Yesterday Anwar had said that he had evidence implicating Inspector-General of Police Musa and AG Abdul Gani Patail in the misconduct, including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against him after his sacking from government in 1998.

He added that a fresh police report lodged against him for sodomy was a result of “interested parties to attack me in retaliation” over this evidence in his possession.

The report alleging sodomy was filed by Anwar’s aide, 23-year-old Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, yesterday.

Anwar claimed that the accusation against him was a “complete fabrication”. PKR also said that Saiful was arrested and forced by the police to lodge such a report against Anwar.

Anwar is presently seeking shelter at the Turkish embasy after fearing assassination attemps on him.

Wan Azizah: Aide was volunteer staff

This morning Wan Azizah said that Saiful was a volunteer who joined to help the party during the general election period three months ago.

She added that little was known of him and that no background check was done on him as he was just a volunteer. He later become a special assistant to Anwar.

Wan Azizah also added that Anwar “was taking it well” with the latest happening.

The police have denied that Saiful was arrested and forced to fabricate evidence as claimed by PKR.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has also denied that the government was behind the new allegation against Anwar and he would let the police investigate the matter and take the necessary action.

Many were there overnight to monitor the situation and protect Anwar, who is staying at a hotel to attend a two-day PKR workshop with all its elected representatives.

This morning, there were two police patrol vehicles outside the hotel.

    Has this been corroborated?

Salak, still trust the Police? They cannot even guarantee Anwar’s safety and deal with threats against his life. It is a damn shame that he has to accept the invitation of the Turkish Government to be in the care of their embassy in Kuala Lumpur. It does show that we can no longer rely on our government to protect us. What is happening?

Saiful is on their side now.—Din Merican

That’s very “casual”. How do we get reporters and editors dismissing a grave incident as casual?

How far has the psy-war got to?

  3. Pak Din,

This boy was a former leader but he never been one true leader. He chose to leave us while he is needed. He’s been working for Najib Altantuya for only-God-knows-how long. Dropout from Uniten, fame hunter and God-knows-what-else.

I really hope Najwan’s entries could be used for something good. We did smell bad from the beginning and I couldnt believe it will turned out this way.

Anyways, I believe this is just a conspiracy made by someone to assassinate DSAI’s career and life.

Believe me, Saiful is capable of doing this. (musang berbulu ayam).

  4. Din Merican,

You’d be failing in your duty as special advisor to the man, not to advise him to seriously consider applying for political asylum in the United States. He is only one phone call away from his good friend, the former Defense deputy secretary Paul Wolfowitz – among others. Everything will be taken care off.

Someone should advise him that this is not just about him. It is about his country. It has grown into something larger than himself. He owes it to all Malaysians who believe in the ideals of democracy not to put himself in harm’s way – not this time! He must keep his personal struggle alive because it mirrors the struggle of all Malaysians who believe in liberty, equality and justice and fair play.

The BN government is increasingly repressive and oppressive; its corrupt leaders are desperate to hang on to power at any cost. The country is once again in a free fall not just economically but also politically – and it is almost cliché to say that desperate times call for desperate measures. They may just proceed and do the unthinkable – and then what??

No doubt there are leaders who would fill his place once he seeks asylum with the help of a foreign government. The United States, the world’s beacon of democracy, would readily give political asylum to political leaders like Anwar. It would be a slap in Abdullah’s and Najib’s face when that happens.

I can just imagine in my mind’s eye, Anwar saying —as he marks his departure in search of political asylum abroad — words made famous by Gen. MacArthur like “I shall return” or more recently words made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger, now the popular Governor of California, “I’ll be back!”

He may direct his Party from abroad and when Pakatan takes over, returns in the same way as General MacArthur did. What Anwar must not be allowed to do is to let matters take their own course. It is no more “God willing” but “God forbids”.

kawan, Anwar is not seeking political asylum. He has not committed a crime. He is a Malaysian first and last. He cannot get any guarantee for his safety from Badawi who thinks the Police can do that. Here we have the IGP and AG who were involved in fabricating evidence against him in 1998 and you expect them to protect him. I think those in power should be sent to a mental asylum or see a shrink.

Anyway what is so special about the United States? For me, Malaysia will always be No 1. —Din Merican.

  6. Dear Din.

As we get closer to Sept 16, more of such innuendo is expected. Pls hang on and stay the course for a PR government, come Sept 16.

  7. Din, this latest development stinks to high heaven of conspiracy. That DSAI’s life can be at risk is not a doubt and I would endorse our Kawan from Wat Siam’s comments that DSAI should make a tactical move by relocating to the US for the moment. I can accept fighting a war with my leader in safer hands. The fact is that this situation has escalated (or should we say sunken to) slimy, lowdown depths. The Pakatan must stand firm in the face of this development to fight for the country and we Malaysians will be staunchly behind the PR.
It is very clear to us that the present administration and their goons will not stop at anything to hang on to power – except that they have proven themselves so bloody bankrupt of ideas, so complete in their absence of care for the country and the rakyat that they are prepared to turn the entire country into turmoil just to achieve their ends. The time is NOW that all responsible Rakyat stands up and stands by PR to ensure the end of this dirty and heinous administration.

  8. “Anyway what is so special about the United States? For me, Malaysia will always be No 1. —Din Merican.”

It will always be for me too! It has always been!

It is true Anwar has not committed any crime and I believe he has not been charged with any. If Anwar is a convicted criminal or has a criminal background, he would not be eligible for asylum in any country which has an agreement with the U.N. on the fate of refugees and not just the United States. The U.S. government believes the trial he was put through which led to his conviction and incarceration was a sham trial based on trumped up charges.

Like I said earlier, this issue is larger than Anwar himself. He needs to keep his political struggle – which mirrors the image of that of fellow Malaysians committed to the ideals of a free society – alive. Naturally he cannot do that behind barbed wires!

The idea of seeking political asylum is not all that far-fetched or ridiculous as it is first thought. Political leaders seek political asylum in the face of persecution by their governments all the time, and live in exile only to return later. There is no shame in doing since it is usually sought by political leaders dedicated to their struggle as a last resort. Perhaps it is a little early for Anwar to actively consider but when he does the perception, I believe, would not be like he is abandoning his political struggle or betraying the very values he stands for or the very people who depend on him for ‘change’. He shouldn’t feel that way assuming that he does.

  9. Knowing UMNO shall use MSM to spread lies, I suggest you get bloggers to keep the rakyat uptodate every minute. Get Pakatan’s web TV to operate like normal TV being constantly giving newsupdate by the hour at least.

  10. Anwar is being accused for sodomy. He is innocent until proven guilty. Right now he is innocent. Why are we focusing on sodomy when there are better issues to address. Anwar’s previous downfall was being framed for sodomy and it worked. So these people thought it would work again so they tried the same tactic. Anwar is an intelligent person. He speaks well with intelligence and he’s got charisma. Unlikely that an intelligent person like him will resort to this stupid act. Why don’t the Govt. concentrate on reality..the Altantuyah’s case is a reality!!!

  11. Dear Din,

I never thought that our country will come to the stage of leaders seeking political asylum. I cannot believe how low we have fallen. From a model country to the pariah among the third world nations ? Those responsible for this will answer for it, one day. In the meantime, I believe DSAI still have the presence of mind to decide what is best. And knowing him his decision obviously would put the country and the struggle first before himself. I like to appeal that he priorities properly because I don’t think we can afford a “Dead Hero”.

We are on the verge of taking the country out of the clutches of leaders who cant afford to lead the country purely on the basis of fair play and democracy. They think of themselves and their political position and families and cronies, not about the rakyat and the future of this country. In their bid to hang on to power they will do what it takes !

  12. “And knowing him his decision obviously would put the country and the struggle first before himself.” Din Ahmad

Putting his country first means seeking political asylum and not put his people through such trauma again – and his country on a path towards certain implosion.

He should keep his struggle alive. His struggle is our struggle.

  13. Kawan,
Agreed. As i said, I don’t think we can afford a “Dead Hero”. We also cannot afford to wait for another Anwar Ibrahim to take the country out of the clutches of UMNO and BN. We cant wait because its going to be one hell of a wait.

  14. Yes kawan. His struggle is our struggle too. In him we have the best leader that can bring us forward to where the country should be. Taking care of his safety is not something he owe to himself and his family only, he owe it to all of us , the rakyat who believe in him, sing the same tune and speak the same language – the language of integrity, fair play and democracy. He owe it to our future generation, who is caught in a bleak future if the nation continues in the present hands.

  15. I believe Anwar is scared for his life and the safety of his family. He has good reasons to be – and Malaysians who support him and put their trust in him, are not looking for a martyr. Here’s hoping that he would be surfing the internet and visiting Din’s blog, a facility available to him at the courtesy of the Turkish Embassy.

The other option open to him is to work out a deal with senior members of the Armed Forces (not the Police) elements loyal to the King. We are talking coup d’état here! Not an impossibility.

  16. “Taking care of his safety is not something he owe to himself and his family only, he owe it to all of us …” Din Ahmad

I’ve always held that view! The issue has become larger than himself. Anwar cannot say it is his decision and his decision alone to make. Seek political asylum now and continue speaking through surrogates and complete the process he started i.e. the cross overs and taking over the federal government.

The message from Najib is not only to Anwar alone but to all those who dare think of taking over the government. If Najib is willing to do the unthinkable to Anwar then there is nothing unthinkable that he would not do against the others!

The country is in a free fall!

  17. Yes agree with you guys that Anwar Ibrahim should seek political asylum in US or Canada and direct ops from afar until such time when situation is safer.

Having said that my thoughts are on possibility of those power crazy umno despots who will not stop at anything, even to send their cleaners in the form of “Mak Foon Than”?

    Din,

I understand what you mean by the Police actually doing this whole job and on the balance they could have damn well done it. I see no corroborating remarks in those paragraphs that the Police HAVE denied; that the truth of the matter is that the Police actually did it. Some newsmen trade all the time, regardless.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has also denied that the government was behind the new allegation against Anwar and he would let the police investigate the matter and take the necessary action.

That’s very “casual”. How do we get reporters and editors dismissing a grave incident as casual?

    Din,

The problem here, I think is professional journalism. They have to cast aspersions of the even for the consumer of news, the essence in that moment at that time—his facial expressions his gestures of the casual way it was stated by Abdullah and the like. Or pursue with other questions or remarks and add those in the print.

But it appears so dumb that he had said that he would let the Police investigate—like sending a musang into the reban ayam. I can’t believe him being that bad a liar or that innocent in his job. He was a defence minister for many years. What I mean is that it was not even a “good” lie!

The ridiculous thing is this. Possibly, the real Abdullah is at another place!? But it doesn’t detract form the fact that those goons want to do Anwar in. You do understand what I mean…

There’s a funny thing about his spouse, too. I haven’t seen her in the news lately. I wonder if KAWAN, might have seen here?

  19. KAWAN,

At the moment, the risks are very severe on AI’s personal safety. You could say it’s Top Defcon.

But AI’s might have to balance and deal with the situation. It guess, it’s like playing poker in the midst of a chess game!

  20. Having said that my thoughts are on possibility of those power crazy umno despots who will not stop at anything, even to send their cleaners in the form of “Mak Foon Than”? Jong

Speaking of the Mak Foon Than syndrome, there are many cleaners all over the U.S. and Canada – mostly Korean and Chinese (from Hong Kong and China). One in the U.S. recently got his pants sued by a judge.

None of the cleaners here in the U.S. is Malaysian. I bet it is expensive to send professional cleaners all the way from Malaysia to do any cleaning. But I don’t think cleaning is what they have in mind – more like pressing.

  21. So now our ‘serial liar’ PM is assuring Malaysians that the govt is not involved in allegation against Anwar. Even his “friend” Najib do not have any intention.

Cool. He can now vouch for Najib too.
The PM also does not believe Najib and Rosmah are not involved in Altantuya’s murder by C4 in 2006.

  22. Yes, what Din Merican said about this guy Saiful being the UMNO plant/mole is true, and you can verify this with Haris Ibrahim, whom Din had told to when they met earlier this year. Still, it makes my blood boil that this shit still took place. Clearly we can see just how desperate the monkeys truly are when they had to resort to this rotten tactic employed by one evil mamak 10 years ago. Shows how bankrupt these monkeys are, of ideas.

  23. What irritates me big time is when they’d hide their ‘heinous’ crime behind religion and when they talk about god and religion, all will be forgotten by their supporters esp the Malays! And when they don’t seem to get what they want, they’d turn ‘racist’ to spread hate and to divide and rule.
Does Hardhari teaches them so? I deliberately drop “Islam”. I think it’s an insult to the true Islam.

I am sorry, no offense meant – not all Malays, and I mean what I say. I am glad most NONs have woke up and they are not easily convinced by that “sodomy” lies anymore.

Let us see what the Police will do next.

  24. “The police have denied that Saiful was arrested and forced to fabricate evidence as claimed by PKR. Has this been corroborated?” Salak

While on the subject of “corroboration” and corroborative evidence, they think by getting different persons to come to court and repeat the lies uttered by another is corroboration.

Now there is this uncle of Saiful who said he believes in Saiful because he has always been an “honest boy, a good kid” who has chosen to file a police report against his boss. That is not corroboration of Saiful’s sodomy allegation against Anwar.
