A New Dawn for Malaysia

My fellow Malaysians,

Today at the ballot box, you listened to your heart with the firm conviction that the time for change has arrived.

The people of Malaysia have spoken. This is a defining moment, unprecedented in our nation’s history.

Today a new chapter has opened. The people have voted decisively for a new era where the government must be truly inclusive and recognize that all Malaysians, regardless of race, culture and religion are a nation of one.

The people have expressed in no uncertain terms that they want accountability, transparency and the rule of law.

Today unity, consensus, and mutual respect triumphed.

Tomorrow, we start working to build a brighter future, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. This is a new dawn for Malaysia.

  1. Thank you DS Anwar Ibrahim for your encouraging speeches that gave us the inspiration that turned to action!

A new dawn for Malaysia, it is.

  2. Today is a Great Day. A historical day. The day that the future generations will recognised as the day we decided to take our future into our own hands instead of leaving it in the hands of BN. Today is the day we can all stand tall in fornt of our children and grandchildren and say, “We did what we were supposed to do”.
Congratulations Malaysia. Congratulations to PKR and DSAI and his team for believing in themselves and showing us Malaysians the way.

For all of us Malaysians, we now need to decide – are we going to follow through with what DSAI and his team has done and jump in to conclude this revival of our spirits 5 years from today.Or we going to let this chance slip away.

Again congratulations to DSAI, TAN SRI KHALID, DIN MERICAN and the rest of the team. May God be always with all of us to let us see a better Malaysia.

  3. This is the man I had faith, from the time of his dismissal, who would be able to transform a Malaysia for Malaysians, and looking at the recently concluded elections, he is set to do that job with ALL Malaysians lending him a hand.

As I had expected prior to the election that BN would lose its 2/3 majority, it is almost certain that BN would be bundled out in the next election.

However, it is necessary for the BR’s candidates to perform to their maximum best and change this country for a better future. The elected representatives should refrain from the pedestal attitude of BN reps and should foremost remember that they here to serve the rakyat. They should drop all pretensions of someone beyond reach and would do well to drop this YB labels. People’s reps are one among the people and should show that they are indeed one.

  4. Can i suggest that as a start, all PKR reps in DUNs and parliaments voluntarily drop the title YB. and replace it with WR or Wakil Rakyat (if need be ) !

  5. We did it, we did it! I’m over the moon, had been celebrating since last night and only knocked off at 4 am this morning.

    Congratulations Malaysia!

Thank you all those hardworking men and women of the United Rakyat, without your sacrifices, toppling the corrupt and arrogant scumbags of BN, would not have been possible.

Those few paragraphs sum up what we in KeADILan have fought for since 1998, and now we are being entrusted to carry out this Anwar Ibrahim vision and mission for a truly united and inclusive Malaysia.

Thanks, my dear friends and fellow Malaysians. Let us begin this journey together so that our country will regain its right to be among the best in Asia. We must play in the premier league, not be a nation of jaguh jaguh kampong.—Din Merican

  7. the extent of the unhappiness with BN is reflected by the losses suffered in their strongholds. I am sure, many like me, even overcame the fear, and voted PAS for the first time in their life. And this is reflected by Dr Lo Lo’s win in an urban seat of Titiwangsa.
Din, with yoru experience, I hope you will give the young team in the opposition good guidance and make sure that their feet are firmly on the ground. Never be arrogant and listen to the voices of the downtrodden, the weak and the meek. In this way, I am sure BN will be the opposition for a long long time.
    Best wishes to Keadilan.

  8. More than 24 hours after the first results of the GE 2008 on 8 Mar 2008 was out, BN is still recovering from the state of shock and licking its wounds when many of their leaders were wiped out and votes swung unexpectedly beyond their beliefs in favour of United Rakyat – PKR, DAP and PAS.

I read with interest many in BN have called for post-mortem into the results to evaluate the poor showing. I truly don’t think there’s any need to. If they had been less arrogant and more caring towards the downtrodden and oppressed, this political tsunami would not have come crashing in.

Hope it’s a good lesson learnt. We have showed them what Mikall Sakti(People’s Power) is capable of and never to take its citizens for granted!

  9. Here is the one again the People Power (makkal sakti) has proved that the unbreakable 2/3 of BN historical victories is broken now and this will be in the history book of Malaysia.

The most important factor now is the rakyat has very high expectation from BR. Now, BR is on transient region or period which is close inter-level with his opponent BN.

Fundamentally, BN will play their role now for win back the voter confident for next general election. So, BR have to plan very robust strategies to upkeep current momentum so that their can rule the country in next general election.

For the MP’s and DUN, should not relax with current achievement and should put their 200% effort for betterment of our Nation for all racist. This is the golden opportunists to prove themselves to Rakyat the real meaning of Democracy and work toward national building.

    SYABASS…….8th March shall be celebrated….

  10. Selangor is the litmus test for PKR.

I would like to see corruption charges be brought against individuals who openly participated in the rape and plunder of the nation’s coffers before I cast my vote again for PKR and the Opposition.

    Friend from Wat Siam,

We are not going on a witch hunt. We will fight corruption because we are committed to good governance. —Din Merican
