For Poltical Survival, Najib dismisses claims  about Taib’s Ill Gotten Wealth

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has dismissed allegations that Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud had amassed billions of ringgit. “There are all kinds of allegations, jangan kita layan (let’s not entertain it),” he said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

Najib was responding to a question on a report produced by Switzerland-based NGO Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) claiming that the chief minister, who has been in power for 31 years, has emerged as the country’s richest man with an estimated wealth of US$15 billion (RM46 billion).

It also estimated Taib’s total family wealth to be at a  mind-boggling US$21 billion (RM64 billion).

The report describes in detail the business activities and personal wealth of 20 members of the Taib family in Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Britain, United States and other countries.

On a separate matter, the premier declined to weigh in on the controversy that human rights group Suaram was receiving foreign funding.

“The CCM (Companies Commission Malaysia) is the authority on this matter, let them investigate,” he said was his curtly.

‘Suaram to be charged’

On Sept 18, Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said CCM was investigating Suaram for “confusing accounts” and expected the NGO to be charged this week.

However, the Attorney-General’s Chambers had sent back the investigation papers on the matter to CCM, for being incomplete.

Yesterday, Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia and Umno-linked New Straits Times and Berita Harian highlighted that Suaram and other groups were receiving foreign funding from international organisations.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein had said that this could pose a threat to national security and the government was monitoring the funds.

  1. Taib and family have plenty of money.Taib has taken advantage of his position to give his friends and immediate family members opportunities to make money in Sarawak.

Tan Sri Teng Keng was only a lorry driver and a bankrupt but he make a lot of money by being a timber contractor by belonging to Party Bersatu Sarawak.

Tan Sri Tiong,A Rimbunan Hijau owner, was formally a communist agent in Sarawak. He surrendered and became vary close to Taib family. He manage most of timber concession belong to Taib.

I don’t think Taib family worth Us 40 billions. But they are rich and powerful in Sarawak.

  2. I’ve never seen a worser troll than this “A najib fan”.

So what’s your conclusion, Hamid? Is Taib not corrupted? Is cronyism or nepotism not wrong?

  3. It pays to be Taib’s gurkha. Hamid says he got a brand new Merc 350 for his services and he now apologized to the people of Sarawak.

  4. On another piece of news Dato, would love to hear your views on the Penang DAP bashfest dinner where Tunku Aziz and sacked DAP members talked of corruption within DAP. Thank you.

  5. Mahathir’s sons, Ling Liong Sik’s son, Taib Mahmud’s sons n whoever r rich. All of them r capable n good in business… That’s how their fathers told the world. Hahahaha… As if doing business is so easy… Hahahaha… Good for u, A Najib Fan.

SPRM must investigate him. What say you Din Merican ?
    ___________
Yes, that is the job of MACC and the Police. So far they got nothing against him. They can only fabricate stories.Better investigate Taib Mahmud, but you and I know that it never happen because Najib needs him to deliver Sarawak in GE-13. Politics, my friend.–Din Merican

  7. Corruptions in any forms by anyone must not be condoned period. Najib, Taib, Anwar, Azmin and many others suffer from allegations of corruption in one form or another coming from various quarters. If we really believe in the rule of law – prove it. OK, it is the job of the MACC and the Police but these 2 organisations are also suffering from similar allegations. Surely some dedicated & learned lawyers out there, having the interests of the people at heart, can find creative ways to prove it instead of having unproven allegations cluttering the air around us.

  8. the MACC and the police have investigated and charged Anwar & Co. numerous times since 1998. where have you people have been living all the while? in some ulu kampung without telephone lines and radio?
how many of the bn crooks have been investigated and charged and punished?
the crime fighters are all blind in one eye.

what hangs over Jibs head like the sword of democles is not ONLY corruption.

  9. When you are drowning at sea do you care who is your rescuer? Survival is the name of the game.

But more and more people are waking up to the political shenanigans.

Can Jib & Co. survive? Will EC support the electorates to decide or will EC decide as predicated by its master? Time will tell.

  10. The current president of Uruguay is dubbed by his citizens as the Poorest president in the world. Why? Because the bulk of his salary is given back to his people. I would die for a leader like him. The only vehicle he owns is a Beetle Volkswagen. Taib is known to travel around Sarawak in a Rolls-Royce/ Not corrupt?
How on earth can a government servant afford a RR?
