MH370: Questions for the US and its Intelligence Services

March 30, 2014

Disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 370: The Trillion Dollar Question to the U.S. and Its Intelligence Services

Malaysian media should pose critical questions to the US and its Intelligence Services and not to the Malaysian Government

Let me state from the outset that I totally agree with the press statements by Malaysia’s Defence Minister and Acting Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein that “we have conducted ourselves fairly, responsibly and history will judge us for that.”

And to a mischievous and presumptuous question from a correspondent of the Financial Times, Datuk Seri with confidence and integrity rightly said without any fear of contradiction that, “I don’t think we could have done anything different from what we have already done.”  Well done!

What technological innovation would prompt the Pentagon's military intelligence agencies to electronically interdict a civilian airliner in mid-flight, while disposing of the collateral passengers as shark bait?

What technological innovation would prompt the Pentagon’s military intelligence agencies to electronically interdict a civilian airliner in mid-flight, while disposing of the collateral passengers as shark bait?

The Financial Times, CNN and other foreign media ought to pose similar questions to the US and its intelligence services and stop insinuating that Malaysia has not been transparent and/or engaged in a cover-up. Foreign media should stop engaging in dirty politics!

It is my hope that following the publication of this article, Malaysian mass media will focus on questioning the integrity of the US’s assistance to Malaysia in the first three weeks of the SAR mission, notwithstanding its recent offer of more assistance.

I take comfort that my reservations about the US and its intelligence services as well as other intelligence services closely linked to the US, especially British secret service, have been more than vindicated by Reuters in its news report on 28th March, 2014 entitled Geopolitical games handicap hunt for flight MH370

The search for flight MH370, the Malaysian Airlines jetliner that vanished over the South China Sea on March 8, has involved more than two dozen countries and 60 aircraft and ships but has been bedevilled by regional rivalries.

… With the United States playing a relatively muted role in the sort of exercise that until recently it would have dominated, experts and officials say there was no real central coordination until the search for the plane was confined to the southern Indian Ocean, when Australia largely took charge.

Part of the problem is that Asia has no NATO-style regional defence structure, though several countries have formal alliances with the United States. Commonwealth members Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia also have an arrangement with Britain to discuss defence matters in times of crisis.

As mystery deepened over the fate of the Boeing 777 and its 239 passengers and crew, most of them Chinese, it became clear that highly classified military technology might hold the key.

But the investigation became deadlocked over the reluctance of others to share sensitive data, a reticence that appeared to harden as the search area widened.

“This is turning into a spy novel,” said an envoy from a Southeast Asian country, noting it was turning attention to areas and techniques few countries liked to publicly discuss.

Ultimately, the only country with the technical resources to recover the plane – or at least its black box recorder, which could lie in water several miles deep – may be the United States. Its deep-sea vehicles ultimately hauled up the wreckage of Air France 447 after its 2009 crash into a remote region of the South Atlantic.

While Putrajaya has been forced to reveal some of the limits and ranges of its air defences, the reluctance of Malaysia’s neighbours to release sensitive radar data may have obstructed the investigation for days.

At an ambassadorial meeting in the ad hoc crisis centre at an airport hotel on March 16, Malaysia formally appealed to countries on the jet’s possible path for help, but in part met with polite stonewalling, two people close to the talks said.

Some countries asked Malaysia to put its request in writing, triggering a flurry of diplomatic notes and high-level contacts.

‘It became a game of poker in which Malaysia handed out the cards at the table but couldn’t force others to show their hand, a person from another country involved in the talks said.

As in the northern Indian Ocean, where Chinese forces operate alongside other nations to combat Somali piracy, current and former officials say all sides are almost certainly quietly spying on and monitoring each other at the same time. (emphasis added)

WantChinaTimes, Taiwan reported,

The United States has taken advantage of the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight to test the capabilities of China’s satellites and judge the threat of Chinese missiles against its aircraft carriers, reports our sister paper Want Daily.

Erich Shih, chief reporter at Chinese-language military news monthly Defense International, said the US has more and better satellites but has not taken part in the search for flight MH370, which disappeared about an hour into its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in the early hours of March 8 with 239 people on board. Shih claimed that the US held back because it wanted to see what information China’s satellites would provide.

The above is the reality which we have to confront. Therefore, desist any attempt to label the above mainstream media articles as a “conspiracy theory”. Reuters has let the Genie out of the bottle!

Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Hishammuddin gave hints of Malaysia’s difficulties (as his hands were tied by intelligence protocols and or refusal by the relevant foreign intelligence services and diplomatic reluctance) but our local media failed to appreciate the nuances of his statements by not directing their questions at those parties that have failed Malaysia as their neighbour and in their duties under various defence treaties and arrangements.

Malaysian media, please read at the minimum three times, the sentences in bold AND WAKE UP TO THE REALITY that our country has been badly treated even though our country put all its national security cards on the table so that countries whose nationals are passengers on flight MH 370 could come forward with sincerity to assist in resolving this unfortunate tragedy which is not Malaysia’s making.

Malaysia is but a victim of this tragedy whose plane, MH 370 was used for a hidden agenda for which only time will reveal.

On the 27th March, 2014, I exposed how Israel is exploiting the tragedy to create public opinion for a war against Iran, a Muslim country that has close ties with Malaysia.

At the outset of the SAR Mission, all concerned stated categorically that every scenario, no matter how unlikely would be examined critically with no stones left unturned – terrorist hijacking, suicide mission, technical failures, inadequate security, criminal actions of the pilot and or co-pilot etc.

Given the above premise, families of the passengers and the crew of MH 370 have every right to ask the following questions of the US and other countries that have sophisticated technologies to track and monitor airplanes and ships in all circumstances.

Such questions should not be shot down by those who have a hidden agenda that such queries amount to “conspiracy theories”. Far from being conspiracy theories, we assert that the questions tabled below and the rationale for asking them are well founded and must be addressed by the relevant parties, failing which an inference ought to be drawn that they are complicit in the disappearance of MH 370.

Let’s us begin.

1)        Was the plane ordered to turn back, if so who gave the order?

2)        Was the plane turned back manually or by remote control?

3)        If the latter, which country or countries have the technologies to execute such an operation?

4)        Was MH 370 weaponised before its flight to Beijing?

5)        If so, what are the likely methods for such a mission – Biological weapons, dirty bombs?

6)        Was Beijing / China the target and if so why?

7)        Qui Bono?

8)        The time sequence of countries identifying the alleged MH 370 debris in the Indian ocean was first made by Australia followed by France, Thailand, Japan, and Britain via Immarsat. Why did US not offer any satellite intelligence till today?

9)        Prior to the switch of focus to the Indian ocean, was the SAR mission in the South China seas, used as a cover for the deployment of undersea equipment to track and monitor naval capabilities of all the nations’ navies competing for ownership of disputed territorial waters? Reuters as quoted above seems to have suggested such an outcome.

10)     Why was there been no focus, especially by foreign mass media, on the intelligence and surveillance capabilities of Diego Garcia, the strategic naval and air base of the US?

11)     Why no questions were asked whether the flight path of MH 370 (if as alleged it crashed in the Indian Ocean), was within the geographical parameters of the Intelligence capabilities of Diego Garcia? Why were no planes deployed from Diego Garcia to intercept the “Unidentified” plane which obviously would pose a threat to the Diego Gracia military base?

12)     The outdated capabilities of the Hexagon satellite system deployed by the US in the 1970s has a ground resolution of 0.6 meters;  what’s more, the present and latest technologies boast the ability to identify objects much smaller in size. Why have such satellites not provided any images of the alleged debris in the Indian Ocean? Were they deliberately withheld?

13)     On April 6th, 2012, the US launched a mission dubbed “NROL-25” (consisting of a spy satellite) from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The NROL-25 satellite was likely rigged with “synthetic aperture radar” a system capable of observing targets around the globe in daylight and darkness, able to penetrate clouds and identify underground structures such as military bunkers.

Though the true capabilities of the satellites are not publicly known due to their top-secret classification, some analysts have claimed that the technology allows the authorities to zoom in on items as small as a human fist from hundreds of miles away. How is it that no imagery of MH370 debris was forwarded to Malaysia, as this capability is not classified though other technologies might well remain classified? (Source: Slate.com)

14)     Could it be that the above capabilities were not as touted?

15)     However, in December, 2013, the USAtlas V rocket was launched carrying the spy satellite NROL-39 for the National Reconnaissance Office, an intelligence agency which is often overshadowed by the notorious National Security Agency (NSA), only it scoops data via spy satellites in outer space. The “NROL-39 emblem” is represented by the Octopus a versatile, adaptive, and highly intelligent creature. Emblematically, enemies of the United States can be reached no matter where they choose to hide. The emblem boldly states “Nothing is beyond our reach”. This virtually means that the tentacles of America’s World Octopus are spreading across the globe to coil around everything within their grasp, which is, well, everything (Source: Voice of Moscow). Yet, the US with such capabilities remained silent. Why?

It cannot be said that it is not within the realm of probabilities that the US may not want the plane MH 370 to be recovered if rogue intelligence operators were responsible for the disappearance of MH 370.

If the above questions have been posed to the US and other intelligence agencies and answers are not forthcoming, I take the view that the Malaysian government ought to declare publicly that our national sovereignty and security have been jeopardized by the disappearance of MH 370 and that the relevant intelligence agencies have been tacitly complicit in the disappearance of MH370.

By coming out openly to explain the predicament faced by our country, Malaysia may prevent a hostile act against a third country.

I therefore call upon Malaysian mass media to be courageous and initiate such queries as only the US and other intelligence agencies can give definitive answers to the above 15 questions.

It is futile to demand answers from Malaysia as we are not in any position to supply the information as we do not have the capabilities of the global and regional military powers.

Malaysians must unite behind the government so that our leaders need not feel that they are alone shouldering this enormous burden.

  1. ” Matthias Chang ….. served as political secretary and adviser to former prime minister mahathir mohamad .” – bloghost

Can the author of this piece have any credibility given that he has not condemned Mahakutty’s theft and corrupt nature , his convenient loss of memory from time to time and above all Kutty’s legacy ?

  2. Dear Mr. Matthias Chang, RMAF chief had been reported to have stated that MH370 turned back just after the disappearance was reported but he was made to retract/deny that statement presumably by someone in authority and more than one critical week was wasted targetting the South China Sea.

    Why?

Australians had satellite pictures of sizeable debris which mysteriously disappeared and the search area moved more than a 1000 km. The plot thickens and the Japs have now joined in.

Is there a conspiracy to hid the true fate of MH370 due to a big power being involved in its disappearance? What is in the planes cargo hold? Will the Malaysian Government make public the cargo manifest?

Is there any item in the cargo which is of interest to the big powers to the extent that will want to SECURE IT AT ALL COSTS?

Diego Garcia may hold the key to the disappearance of MH370. The truth will prevails and apologists for the lies being fluanted will hang their head in shame for helping to change black to white and playing on the emotions of the kins of the MH370 passengers.

Our Government knows more than what they are telling the world and all we ask is for the TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH because lies will be exposed by history. Please note Musa Hitam expose on Memali.

  3. Aiya.., an article like that from Octo’s caddy boy is probably not worth the bandwith i’m using. But since “Octopus” was mentioned, i’ll give it a go.

Of course Taikor USofA probably has the means to to detect ‘the mole on looes’ butt’, but they ain’t gonna tell – cuz that’s their ‘Supernature’. While the whole world is stuck in this Awful Mystery (Tragedy, only when the debris is found – but will still be a Mystery), the victims (the crew, passengers and relatives) in Limbo and the Malaysian Gomen in sheer Confusion, Contradiction, Confabulation and Consternation (besides the pre-eminent UMNOb trait of blaming everyOne else), those faceless folks at the Big 5 – i.e NRO, Langley (CIA), NSA, DIA, NGA are probably grinning from ear-to-ear. Firstly, the Chinapek’s technology is still some 4 decades away and they often mistake dead squid for orange life jackets. You see, it ain’t their business to interfere with something as mundane as a Vanished Plane – since it ain’t their watch nor M&A.

In Perth, the PRC IL-86 pilots were ogling the P-8 Poseidon and besides sprouting all sorts of antennae – they had to make an appointment with my Urology buddy who treated them for Priapism.. Anyway isn’t USS Blue Ridge hanging around the place? Now, besides Diego Garcia and Pine Gap, they may set up shop in the Cocos Islands.

That’s why i begged Taikor to give us measly Sailos a break all those weeks ago. Still no response. PRC was scanning Diego Garcia assiduously, remember?

  4. Hahahaha! See, I told you that CLF would unleash his lupusness. Fox News = Lupus of News. Time for CLF to become Air Lupus/ Hahahaha! Oh by the way, CLF…..Do argue with your alter ego, ktemoc. Malaysia may have wonder weapon……..ery superstupidkated radar……..hahahaha! can’t disclose data one

Again, I don’t think you look even close to this fella

P.S : It seems Malay male wanna pusing pusing again. It comes when some clownish ministers warn people not to speculate

  5. As this prolongs and things get dodgier by the day,Am starting to seriously wonder what was the cargo manifest, both the listed and if there may be any unlisted “packages” ??
Apart from the almost “half a ton of Li-on batteries” (at least that is what was told to the public) bound for Beijing , China.( spy novel fans or authors about top secret shady trade of sensitive materials/intel /info /industrial secrets / weapons by goverments, will find this fertile ground for imagination , a ” something everyone wants to get their hands on or prevent another from obtaining it by all possible means ,even deadly force, if necessary to intercept !” type of plot )

    On a more sober tone.
The question i may ask is ” Why the hang up in releasing details of cargo manifest?
And why PM Najib seem so keen to jump the gun and dish out a tragic fatal conclusion when , no physical evidence from recovered debris can be produced definitively to confirm . Just because a satellite said so? That the plane flew into the wide expanse of the Indian ocean, towards nowhere, thousands of KM from anywhere?
And question to the US…CIA / NSA.who have often created an impression of their super hyper secret intel gathering ability , which they will neither confirm nor deny but obviously prefer to keep that impression, on land sea and space, practically 24 hours blanket surveillance globally, where if Kim Joung Un farts loud enough, they may pick it up and if NK fires a ballistic missile at a friendly , they will know instantly, track it and shoot it out of the sky, also in instant real time.
    Question will be ..
Has any of their global monitoring hardware ( classified of course ) but maybe picked up and tracked an anomaly in a flight path that may be MH 370.?
Or , were any of their nuclear subs just happened to be in the neighbourhood and their powerful sonar devices or earthquake seismic early detection recorders picked up any loud bang/boom, or a after shock quiver ,that may be caused by a gigantic piece of metal smashing into water or ocean bottom ?

  6. Matthias has really gone deep, very deep into Conspiracy Land. Shifting attention onto Western intelligence agencies, military rivalries (US vs China, etc.), and leaks from the Western media is a great way to shift attention away from the poor performance of the UMNO government. If it weren’t for the foreign press and intelligence services, we wouldn’t know half of what we do today.
    _________________
Ambassador Malott, good on you for defending your country. While I agree with your view on UMNO and its politics, I find it puzzling that you have not explained America’s role in the SAR operations for the missing MH370. There is more to this saga. The Americans know it. They have the sophisticated military assets, technology and the expertise to send a man to the moon and track and kill Osama Ben Laden. Surely, the MH370 puzzle can be unravelled with your country’s wholehearted cooperation. Perhaps, Obama should, therefore, defer his visit to Malaysia. The mood is not good here for him.

Maybe, another Snowden will appear from out of the woodwork years hence to tell us what actually happened. Please read Kamsiah’s postings on her Facebook. She has been tracking developments on MH370 since it happened.–Din Merican.

  7. We must spread and share this idea. That we must demand from Malaysia government accountability from USA intelligence. This is sneaker than it looks.

Malaysia government is helpless. Why? Because of fear of the Chinese.

Think about this, who are the only people who benefit from the disappearance of MH370?

The Party of the People’s Republic of China. It is a “propaganda scoop” for them. They benefit at the EXPENSE of both Malaysian and Chinese victims.

Who benefits, this tells us probable motives. We know it could not be terrorists or hijackers and had to be a State entity, only a government could pull off things like this

Brothers and sisters, we must demand that Malaysia’s government resist Chinese influence, and demand accountability and clarity from USA Intelligence and Israeili intelligence on their roles in the disappearance of MH370 !

We know from investigations of Dr. Kevin Barrett that a model of the plane exists in Tel Aviv, why is this?

Isn’t it possible that the government has this information but is afraid to disclose what it knows? Why? Fear of China.

MH370’s disappearance could only have been done by a State entity. Not have been hijackers, not the pilot who is being slandered in the media. He has no motives. Hijackers would make demands, and some warning issued from the plane.

Modern cockpit doors are gunproof and axe-proof. Standard procedure in hijacking is to lock door for duration of flight. The pilot’s personality is a man who knows the rules and is a professional.

But the transponder was disabled! This normally can be done only in person. But what about a manufacturer backdoor? Something used in testing the planes, then forgotten. Only a State’s intelligence service would know the backdoors of this made-in-America airplane.

What happened? Obviously the plane has to have been hacked or taken over, but ONLY through remote control. No one on-board could get away with hacking it through a mobile phone or through the entertainment console.
If they tried the crew would realize something is wrong and searching passengers for laptops mobile phone etc.

The only logical possibility is remote control. This could only be done by an entity with through knowledge of the plane, and only a government intelligence service would undertake something this dangerous.

WHO BENEFITS? Only China. WHY. China wants to erase from the hearts of our loyal Chinese citizens of Malaysia their confidence in the government. Once this is done they will feel only China can protect their interests.

China wants to put a barrier between our races. WHY?

China wants to turn the loyal and intelligence Chinese citizens of Malaysia into a fifth column against Malaysia, by making them disillusioned and feel like Malaysia government cannot protect their interests.

Then they will naturally turn to China, and undermine us and facilitate China’s takeover.

Israel intelligence has access to every USA manufactured airplane schematic and specifications by borrowing them or STEALING them from USA intelligence, since the government of the USA is full of Israel agents, who not only protect Israel’s influence but ALSO protects China’s influence in the USA. Many American politicians have commented on the growing influence of China and they fear it.

Only US government would know remote control backdoors from manufacturer. Israel spies have access to everything USA knows through Mossad.

Israel and USA would know what really happened, and how it benefits China. They scratch their backs, and they benefit in return.

Don’t you suspect this is true? Haven’t you suspected this all along?

Our government knows but must be silent because of fear of the danger from China. We must support FULL DISCLOSURE of the truth. We must DEMAND that China accounts for itself and the knowledge Israel and USA has about this incident.

  8. He is brilliant and faithful, this we have to give it to him. I would love to have him on my side. As a lawyer he is equipped with “Plan B, Plan C, etc”. I am sure many of us don’t see this coming, questioning the US, a party who infect assisted our search for the missing plane. Tun M, you lucky fellow.

But Mr Chang, I am sure all of us would love to have you refocus your God given resourcefulness and energy to bring justice to Malaysia which is much lacking. Will you heed our calls as a fellow Malaysian?

  9. Here is a person with at best, controversial credentials, trying to shift the blame from the BN government to US.

In doing so, he seems to have conveniently forgotten (just like his master) the most important question: What did the BN government do in the 1st few hours when the plane alleged flew across Malaysia? The plane was flying ride by our backyard and the people who is responsible for watching our skies and for running our country just watched the plane flew by as if they were watching a movie! Can he blame the US for that?

  10. Wild fantasy to shift blame from the bungling of our own RMAF and DCA and the inaptitude of our governmental set up. Matthais Chang is the same guy that predicted that the US$ would be worth a piece of toilet paper by now with the US govt. working its printing machine like there is no tomorrow, but instead it is the RM that is in that situation today !!! A roll of KLEENEX 3 ply costs RM 1.40 currently !! Spot on Matthais, blame the USA for our own bunglings like UMNO doing it to ANWAR !!!

  11. Sheesh.., you conspiracy theorists are a bunch of wimps, sitting on your laptops wet dreaming up schemes and dreams.

As for this Ahmad R fellow, who’s trying desperately to defend the ‘Apa lagi Cina Mahu?’, i can only say this – PRC leaders see Malaysia as a decayed sausage only worthy enough to present the annual ‘Bunga Mas’. Yes, they might ‘protect’ the Malaysian Chinese of local extraction, so long as they benefit from it. Yup, like funding the anti-Lynas campaign.. So the question should be ‘Apa Melayu Nak Lagi?’

For all of my buddy Ocho’s ruminations – i would suggest to all of you: A misdirected HAARP pulse sent through Anchorage, Alaska, by the dastardly Mossad in connivance with BAE and Snowden. After all, weren’t the Big 5 Watching our Dopey ex-PM even when he mumbled in his somnolence and forgot to tie his shoelaces? Problem started when Scomi was really trying to circumvent the Iran ban.

There are too many puerile questions already, but let’s first direct it at our own Goons before splattering it all over the world. We need self-reflection, not a bastardized version of Tom Clancy’s novel. Aren’t we trying to achieve 2020 – er.., not the visual acuity, but the capacity..?

  12. I never had much stomach for Matthias Chang; cannot shake off memories of how he managed to arrange that shameful “tea ceremony” at which “Chinese community leaders” offered cups of tea to Mahathir seated just like some emperor accepting the tributes of his humble subjects.

However, this time, I must say that at least he managed to stay on a saner footing than the likes of Yoichi Shimatsu, supposedly “former editor of the Japan Times Weekly” and a “science and technology writer”, whose “Is MH370 The Latest Casualty Of The Pentagon’s Pivot To Asia?” is still being viewed by many eager to believe conspiracy theorists as practically proof that MH370 was diverted to diego Garcia.

For all I know, there may be grains of truth in what Yoichi Shimatsu wrote, but he is not going to win my trust when he asserts that “Malaysia has the only air force in the
region that flies Sukhoi jet fighters”. I wonder what the 24 Su-30 in Vietnam, 11 in Indonesia and 194 in India [which a quick Google search revealed] are. And that’s not counting the 100 that Caina operates [as it may be outside “the region”] and other Sukhoi jetfighters aside from the Su-30 which Malaysia flies.

Then again, Yoichi Shimatsu also claimed previously that the “Geronimo” which SEAL Team 6 shot in Abbottabad was not Osama bin Laden in an item which proclaimed that
“CIA-hired architects studied every large compound in Pakistan, using Google Earth maps”. Google maps! Not images from the many US satellites tasked to cover Pakistan / Afghanistan, or even the images from commercial satellite operators which are better than Google maps. If that was not enough, Yoichi Shimatsu also wrote elsewhere that Isreal had sabotaged the Fukushima nuclear plants computers with the Stuxnet virus. And there are more of such.

I keep as open a mind to what floats around as possible; can never quite discount some of the theories these days, even when it involves suggestions which are difficult to imagine at first. But the credibility of the sources of the theories needs to to be weighed carefully.

  13. Ahmed Rasid,
stop piggy backing on other people’s idea and come out with your own analysis..theory. You are no Dr. Chang. You are those what we called monkey see monkey type. Go dig a hole and buried it like the ostrich.

  14. Ahmed Rasid
I am not sure if you are a good spin doctor or a lousy one.

WHO BENEFITS? Only China. WHY. China wants to erase from the hearts of our loyal Chinese citizens of Malaysia their confidence in the government. Once this is done they will feel only China can protect their interests.

As a Malaysian with Chinese descendant, not only I am disappointed with the BN government, I am also damn pissed off with the CCP govt and the people from PRC, especially the actors and actresses like Chen Kun and Zhang Ziyi who claimed that they would boycott everything and anything Malaysia, including the products Buatan Malaysia, singer Fish Leong, skipping the country for tourism purposes, etc.
If what you said was really the CCP intention, then I can tell that they failed miserably and they are driving their targets (like me) away, further and further.

China can protect my interest? I will be damn happy if they don’t come and mess up with my life (such as the property prices in Malaysia and other parts of the world) and others’ (my child’s education costs in the UK) in the world.

  15. I don’t understand where this idea comes from, that the US is not participating in the search effort. The US Navy was among the first on the scene in the Gulf of Thailand and the first to shift assets to the Indian Ocean. Then, it became clear that the plane had gone to the vast area of the Indian Ocean, and other navies joined the search with their ships. The Australians (our military ally) took the lead in coordinating the search effort, since the search area was “next” to them. So the US Navy then decided to shift its focus to areas where it could really make a difference with its technological advantage. The P-8 Poseidon (which only the US Navy has) can cover a far, far vaster area of the ocean’s surface than any ship can. (But of course, ships make greater “visuals” for newspapers and TVs, so maybe the pictures in the news give the impression that the US is no longer around.)

The Poseidon has covered over 200,000 square nautical miles so far. Now the US has decided to send a second Poseidon to the seas off Australia, plus a device that the Australians have “borrowed” to listen for pings, and a Bluefin-21 underwater probe drone that can detect the plane at depths to 20,000 feet (6,000 meters). The latter two devices were shipped all the way from New York, which to me is another indication that no one else has this level of technology, because it had to be shipped from halfway around the world.

The NTSB, FAA, Boeing, and our satellite reconnaissance experts all have been involved as well. Their know-how is just as valuable and important — if not more important — as the ships. If it weren’t for this kind of expertise, we would still be chugging around the Gulf of Thailand, looking for something that isn’t there.

My friends, please do not succumb to the UMNO Government’s latest ploy, which is to deflect attention away from their own incompetence by claiming that foreign governments and foreign media are not being helpful.

  16. Malott,
I believe that some people including CLF himself overestimate US capability. Some may not believe that with such advanced US technology, USA would not have known by now where the wreckage is. Or what actually happen to the plane. Hehehe, kinda deflecting responsibilities by Malaysian government & leaders. Because MH370 did make a turn back & pass through Malaysian airspace & Malaysian government did nothing. Like Richard Quest has said, it’s a scandal that Hisham (The Defence Minister) & Najib must be held accountable for. We are not talking about one detainee escape from detention centre & swam to Malaysia. Even then in the Mat Selamat case, Wong Kan Seng, the then Home Minister of Singapore apologised 3 times in parliament. Now such a scandalous handling of MH370 by Malaysian authorities & Malaysia top leaders especially Hisham refused to say sorry……Hiyah!

  17. Dear CLF,
Nah. I think you got it wrong on this one, mate. The world created by these scary black ops creeps is indeed stranger than fiction! The twists and turns of the on going MH370 saga are the very stuff that fiction is made of. Indeed, Tom Clancy will be truly inspired if he’s still alive. 🙂

Until the official version of 911 was debunked, the 911 conspiracy theory was till then, just another theory.

Similarly, the views of Gordon Duff, an American Vietnam War Marines Vet and other brave men like him, validated or not, will remain just theories for now until the truth behind MH370 surfaces if it will ever emerge for it is doubtful that there will be another Snowden expóse as all the leakages have been sealed tight.

Suffice it to say, the readers who visit DDM’s blog, in search for the truth, are intelligent enough to form their own conclusions as long as they are able to see both sides of the coin.

  18. This Mahathir’s lap dog is a purveyor of all sorts of far-out conspiracy theory. He will give dire warnings of the world financial system years ahead. And when it happened, he will say “there, I told you so”. The point is, without a time-frame, he will eventually be proved right. A dead clock tells the correct time twice a day.

I remembered he was telling the whole world to short the Singapore dollar some time back because Singapore’s public debt is more than 100% of its GDP. He was so over-the-moon and thought he discovered the most earth-shattering and darkest secret of the fragile Singapore economy. He didn’t realize that it is public debt and not external debt. In fact, Singapore is probably a net creditor in the world financial scene. The public debt was largely due to the issuance of Singapore Government Securities to broaden and deepen the debt capital market. The Singapore Government has never borrowed for consumption or for subsidizing consumption.

I hope Matthais Chang did short the Singapore Dollar and lost his pants.

  19. Airlines buy and sell planes daily once the planes reach a certain cycle or age as a D Check can be very expensive. Airlines like their fleet to be young to reduce maintenance cost, Singapore Airlines for example have one of the youngest fleet. Maintenance comes in 2 parts, line maintenance or night stop and base maintenance where the aircraft is ripped open down to the bare airframe and reassembled after a C Check or D Check thus giving the plane a new lease on life. A D check will take 10,000 man hours.

So no big deal if the Israelis so happen to buy a B 777 200ER with similar engines and avionics. MAS buy these planes and standardize the engines and avionics to cut down maintenance and spares cost. Bet you there may be another twin B777-200ER out there but belonging to another airline. Anyway its easy to figure out what engines and avionics are installed in these aircrafts as there are not too many engine manufacturer (3) and maybe just a handful avionics manufacturer that are OEM for the B777-200.

  20. I get your drift, Semper.
I also heard it from the grapevine that there were 4 billion-yuan-aires on board too. It’s still hard to wrap One’s head around the total lack of debris or evidence of a crash for something as humongous as a 777. Even the monitoring and surveillance satellites didn’t pick up anything on the night of the disappearance. The Southern Indian Ocean is a very lonely place indeed.

Whatever happened, i would presume that we are looking way off base. The local Goons are probably as lost as we are. The clamour for disclosure, if not closure, is off the rails, and sooner or later ‘something’ will be found. Meanwhile stay cool, even as the tremblors continue.

  22. Wrath,
This is a problem of one Madhater’s goon knows NUTs about economics. The reason why Singapore has a high percentage of public debt is due to the necessity of borrowing money from CPF. CPF holders need their money to grow & hence it’s a win win for the government as well as the citizens/PRs. Plus Monetary Authority Singapore operates with a basket of currency……Not so easy for speculators to make for a kill. Before Singapore really mampus, countries such as Hong Kong will mampus first
