SHEER Arrogance: New Home Minister tells unhappy Malaysians to emigrate

Sheer Arrogance, Zahid Hamidi

Zahid HamidiNewly-appointed Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysians who are unhappy with the country’s political system should leave the country, stressing that loyal citizens should respect the Rule of Law.

In his first opinion piece printed in Utusan Malaysia since receiving the portfolio yesterday, Ahmad Zahid wrote that the illegal gatherings held across the country by Pakatan Rakyat was a form of escapism and the denial of the fact that it failed to take control of Putrajaya.

The Minister added that the Opposition was over-confident with the support it received from voters.

“Even if it is true that the Opposition had claimed a greater majority, the measurement used by the opposition had been manipulated to follow the list system or the single transferable vote system,” he said in column entitled “Perhimpunan haram sebab tak terima hakikat gagal kuasai Putrajaya.” (Illegal gathering because refuses to accept failure in controlling Putrajaya)

“Malaysia inherited the political system from the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth countries also use the first past the post system where political parties contesting in the election will only have one representative in each constituency with the principle of a simple majority of votes,” he added.

He said opposition leaders, especially those from PKR and DAP, have been irresponsible in confusing young Chinese voters and their followers who are “politically blind” to dress in black to protest against the result of the 13th general election which they believe is for them due to the popular vote.

“If these people wish to adopt the list system or the single transferable vote used by countires with the republic form of government, then they should migrate to these countries to practise their political beliefs. Malaysia is not a country to translate their political beliefs, even if they are really loyal to this country, they should accept the political system and the existing system to form a government as enshrined in the Federal Constitution,” he said.

He said PR must recognise and accept that the voters have rejected their rule in accordance to the first past the post system.

“Illegal gatherings organised as roadshows are just an escapism by the opposition to run away from the fact that they have failed to capture Putrajaya. The Opposition was actually over confident with the support of the voters and manipulated the various issues with false promises in its manifesto that they know will not be able to implement,” he said.

He also pointed out that PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had already accepted the results  and disagreed with the illegal gatherings by PKR and DAP.

“People are getting fed up with the behaviour of a number of opposition leaders who are dragging in the young, especially those of Chinese descent, by fanning the flames of hatred and racism in a pluralistic society which has already fostered a sense of harmony. The Opposition is also questioning the authority of the Election Commission (EC) which had allegedly manipulated the votes. It is an outrageous accusation when the EC have observed most of their demands including the use of indelible ink that is only used by the third world countries,” he said.

  1. Yes…those who wish to migrate contact Australian Migration Agents. They provide good professional service at attractive price

  2. Well, well well. From Army to police. From carrying Anwar’s bag to polishing Najib’s shoes. Looks like a remake of Rajapakse’s episode in Sri Lanka

  3. This guy knows which side his bread is buttered. He broke the speed record when he abandoned Anwar during the early reformasi years. His short stint under the ISA turned him over permanently.
Since then he has been carrying the balls of 3 PMs including Mahathir whom earlier on he attacked together with Anwar.

With him as Home Minister and the new IGP, expect tougher action on dissent.

  4. I don’t know how to comment about this former Defence Minister. Wait a minute, Najib is also a former defence minister.

    Ehhh Hamidi,
If you ask Malaysians to emigrate, then what happen if they end up in Singapore. More productions such as Mr Brown show will appear

    Guys & Gals,
I don’t know whether wanna laugh or cry……But do enjoy! CLF, please don’t get heart attack

  5. and as the new home minister….he is saying it is illegal “black 505” gatherings….when the bar council says its not illegal…

someone needs to do his homework before opening his mouth for the very first time in his new job….so irresponsible….main hentam saje

  6. Okay. Zahid, next time you have a migraine, don’t bother with the medication, just slam your head with a door. If that does not work, put a pistol to your head and just blow your brains away, that is if you have any in the first place. 🙂

  7. With such ‘high calibre’ minister, Malaysia is heading for greatness in the coming years. It’s paycheck time for the newly minted ministers and their cronies. Geewhiz!!!

  8. Uncle Din
That confirms it. This bloke a son of an Indon emigrant has a Permanent Head Damage (Phd). Awarded by the Professors “Kangkung” of UKM.

  9. Sorry, Zahid. The problem is not the “first past the pole” system, which is used in many countries (including the US). The problem is the delineation and gerrymandering of electoral districts, a process that has become grossly distorted to favor rural areas that support UMNO and BN.

Malaysia’s original constitution called for no more than a 15% variance in the size of the districts (by population). That provision was removed in 1962. If it were still in place today, then the average size of an electoral district would be 58,600 ( 13 million voters, divided by 222 seats). A 15% variance would mean that districts would range in size from 49,810 (-15%) to 67,000 (+15%). But we know that is not the case.

The EC will carry out a new delineation exercise this year. Will it continue to distort democracy in Malaysia by ensuring gross imbalances in the size of voting districts, so the government can stay in power for the next decade, regardless of the will of the people? I know they will try to do that — but the question is, will you let them? People say it requires a 2/3 vote, but my reading of Malaysia’s constitution says no, it only requires a majority vote of Parliament. So BN can take action to keep itself in power by rigging the electoral system to its advantage, even though it does not enjoy the support of a majority of the Malaysian people.

To me, this year’s delineation exercise is the most critical issue in the quest for free and fair elections. But when I just looked at Bersih’s list of demands, the imbalance in the size of districts was not there.

  10. Hey Zahid, if those unhappy will need to leave the country, 53.5% will need to do that… and that will leave you with 46.5% of which Dr Mahathir termed as stupid and lazy… how?

  11. Zahid, stick to to main issue.

The main issue C H E A T I N G, is what DSAI is leading the protest, not losing nor is it the political system.

Pakatan lost in 2008, did not protest as just went on to work harder for the people.

C H E A T I N G the electorate is the MAIN issue that everyone in Pakatan is protesting behind DSAI; not the political system or anything else.

  12. Zahid has really nothing to show for himself over all these years. By appointing him as a Cabinet minister, Najib tells me that he is not serious about reform. Reconciliation? What is that when you have in your new Cabinet someone like that s.o.b preaching parochialism. We have every right to remain in Malaysia because we as Malaysians want to throw out people like Zahid from power. What will the rest of the world think of us if we continue to have a retard like this Minister of Home Affairs.–Din Merican

  13. John M., thank you for your update.

The Westminster system had the English divided the Scots that had in oppressive summation led to Scots referendum. There is a limit as to how far people can be divided. At least the ruling party of UK did not tell its opposition to immigrate.

    This article is either:
    1.sheer arrogance or
    2. sheer ignorant or
    3. sheer umno baruism or
    4. UMNO Baru EGM wardrumming or
    5. sheer extreme fear of DAP merger with PKR or
    6. dousing Mahathirism ahead of Umno baru EGM or
    7. all the above ?

  14. Can’t blame Zahid for his comments…the stake for Umno top echelon is too high to neglect…the ‘power brokers’ has claw their mark. The power game is imminent.

  15. Salam Zahid,
Kita Selangorians dan PAKATANians (bukan DAPians atau PKRians)
Why lu ta boleh tahan kita rally behind Anuar dan Khalid meh.
    Kita faham lu garam ?

  16. Gosh! An UMNO leader who holds a doctorate in something where intelligence was not the criteria for the award? This turn-coat would have been shot on sight during the American revolution for abandoning the good fight. Hey, Dr Zahid, do you understand democracy at all or for you democracy is total conformity to one particular system? You see, you have been soaked in apple-polishing all your life that you cannot agree to disagree. Dato Ambiga has given you a lesson on “rule of law” and “rule by law” – I doubt you know the difference. The kitchen cabinet just announced sees you switching portfolio with your predecessor so the Home Ministry and the Defence Ministry are fixed deposits just as Sabah and Sarawak are. Your are a disgrace to the Prime Minister’s efforts at “reconciliation”, “transformation” and his “1Malaysia”. Please lah, DOCTOR Zahid Hamidi, the less you open the TRAP. the better for us Malaysians. If you have not realized, Malaysians just can’t go anywhere because we ARE Malaysians. If you can’t tolerate us, then you have to leave – go back to whichever Indonesian island your forefathers came from – that is, if you are accepted by the islanders. (By the way, do you feel insulted by what I said?) Frankly, it’s a bloody waste of time commenting on statements by some of our Ministers!

  17. Ambassador Malott, Semper Fi and Mr Bean,
I trust you find the youtube video interesting. It is titled “UMNO Tipu Rakyat.” I find it hilarious. We Malaysians have not lost our sense of humour.Cheers.–Din Merican

  18. What’s with all this vitriol, disgust and hate spewed on this chump, fellas?

I shall NOT heap odium and insults on this most brilliant, angkuh-bangsat-wan of a truly magisterial lignified (from the Latin ‘lignin’), brand of intellect.

I shall instead pity him; and empathize with his deprived, malnourished childhood and subsequent ‘short-circuit’ incarceration by the depraved Goons.

I will also pray to God Almighty, that the wood that makes up the space between his ears will miraculously transmutate into some semblance of Squid neural Ring.

You guys are just jealous of One – who was once a captive – now made the head. Irony, absurdity and fantasy. Can’t handle it? Leave!!

  19. Dear sir, didn’t we once had people like Ghazalie Shafie and Tun Dr Ismail as Home Minister? It really has deteriorate to this level, huh?

    A younger generation Malaysian

  20. First you have Kerismuddin as Home Minister now this idiot. Is this the dream team the mainstream media alluded to? This is the same monkey who claimed that the Sulu intruders were in Sabah to have a picnic. Lingkup lah negara ku ini.

  21. AN angry man with little up there will shoot his feet every time he is pushed around . We will be facing more boundaries with this type of robots. No Logic just anger as per programmed!

  22. Younger Malaysian

So sad your generation inherited beyond description. That is why we are thankful for you generation for standing up and not swallowing any spills and spins. Well done young chap. Keep on micro blogging beyond borders. Social e Learning is your calling. Always check and counter check what they tell you in class. Take no B.S. and give no B.S.

  23. Zahid unleashes his vernom but at the wrong place. It is not the system that we are not happy with but rather the rampant fraud in the PRU 13. The election fraud has been reported worldwide and we hope you are not too ignorant to notice that (eventhough not reported in the BN media). By the way, why migrate since we the rakyat have the power to change the system? We will use it when the time comes, bro!

  24. Another doktor kangkong ministrel in duh 1naj1b cab1net….sori lah apanamazah1d bodoh, I am staying put to irritate you…th1s 1 can really surround h1mself w1th v1llage 1d1ots.

  25. As Defense Minister, Zahid was alleged to constantly use the air force’s new Eurocopters to return to Bagan Datoh and for his family’s joyrides, is that true?

  26. Btw, isn’t this the block who was the First Malaysian Minister to meet up with Bibi, of Israel? Surely, this must count for something. Shame on Bibi for mistaking a Malaysian minister for a chambermaid!

  27. Many Malaysians don’t need your advice. They have already left. Unfortunately for Malaysia, fortunately for places like Singapore, those who are educated and should be treasured by the country, left or about to leave. Not only those who are unhappy but those who could make a positive contribution to society left or leave too.

  28. Wow this guy was really turned over. What happened when his funds dried up after being removed as Chairman of Bank Simpanan Nasional and had to crawl to Che Det. Spit in the air and now spit lands on own face. (Malay saying ludah ke langit) Now he becomes the chief attack dog, but got things wrong. Rakyat not complaining on who wins but the method BN used to win – cheating. Even that he can’t understand. Susah lah.

Guess smart people after joining UMNO become stupid. Must be something that they feed their members or maybe the sight of RM (not Che Mah Chot) short circuit their cerebral function.

  29. Dear Din,   We really have a stupid new Home Minister. He is fit for the cowdung.   Unfair laws are a form of Tyranny, US President said

  30. So sorry. Mr Minister.
There are plenty of us unhappy Malaysian patriots who are
    staying to work for change.

P.S. Do not think that those who left will not trouble the kleptocratic
UMNO Baru-BN regime anymore. If you know your history,
political exiles and citizens residing overseas were instrumental in
bringing about the 1911 Republican revolution in China, the
1917 Russian Revolution, the 1979 Iranian Revolution etc.

  31. Dear Din ,

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (AZH) knows the electoral process is unfair and flawed. Putrajaya has about 15000 voters and Kapar has 144000 voters. (9 times more voters)

The Election Commission (EC) is NOT independent and is run by UMNO members like Aziz , Wan and Harun Din (Perkasa) .

UMNO instructed EC delineated constituencies UNFAIRLY to ensure UMNO is in power forever. Every 8 years, EC will delineate again. You cannot be playing the game & setting the rules. Election is about Fairness I remember AZH broke down & cried when he was jailed under ISA under solitary confinement by Mahathir. He knows that was an UNFAIR law.

AZH wants people to accept UNFAIR Laws. Unfair Laws are a form of tyranny. The new Home Minister believes in cheating to win by unfair laws. That is why there so much coruption.

If politicians can cheat in elections, they can cheat the people/nation when in power. The people should chase AZH out of the country.   Sometimes when I see pictures of UMNO leaders going for the Hajj in the STAR and becoming back still corrupt and talk like AZH, I begin to wonder.

When a person tells me he is religious, I think he maybe a crook. God wants us to go to Heaven and NOT to Mecca.   Robert Chan

    Criticisms welcome

  32. Today I was at the Passport Office HQ at Komplex Kerajaan , Jalan Duta. And what did I see. The queue for application of passports reflected the racial composition of the country.
YB Menteri please do not say such things it hurts all of us.

  33. “When a person tells me he is religious, I think he maybe a crook. God wants us to go to Heaven and NOT to Mecca.” — Robert Chan

There is a word for that person and it is ‘hypocrite’ – condemed by all the prophets.

The God of the Old Testament is heavy into rewards and punishment. He wants to reward His followers with 72 virgins i.e. dark eyed beauties. Funny how they came to be described as ‘dark eyed’ beauties since nobody came back to tell us about it.

  34. Datuk

YB Zahid Hamidi’s rant sums up the unfortunate skew in YB Najib Tun Abdul Razak’s cabinet. I can understand that political alliances often require horse-trading for leaders to survive. However, if the cabinet is dominated by clowns and brawn, the next five years will not see the “transformation” promised. Unless YB Najib finds the autonomy from capture by such “strong but negative characters” it will be back to the same drawing board again five years from now. Although I now tend to agree with your earlier statement that BN no longer has a critical mass of pragmatic, clean and intellectually sharp leaders, YB Najib could have done better by at least taking on some credible and capable leaders. Why did he not bring on YB Shahril Samad? Why was YB Khairy Jamaluddin given such a minor ministry? For someone articulate and endowed with Oxford training I strongly feel he should have been given an important ministry. Why did YB Najib not approach Azran Osman Rani to head the transport ministry? Why did YB Najib not appoint a globally competitive corporate leader the minister of MITI?
    _____________
    Nini,

I have been watching every policy move Najib makes over the last 4 years. He makes a good move like getting a report done by ISIS Malaysia on the New Economic Model and then kills it as soon as he encounters opposition from pro-NEP warlords. He does the same to 1Malaysia idea and then allows Ibrahim Ali to scuttle it. He is not prepared to tackle issues with firmness. He is more a consummate politician than a national leader with a clear vision of what he proposes to do to take the country. I am not sure what he wants to do in the next 5 years. He should decide whether he wants to be a Prime Minister for Malaysia, or an UMNO party leader.–Din Merican

  35. Aiyaaah Why Be this Why Be that, Why Not Be, get rid of all these Why Be. Use their names only, we know who they are.
Yesterday they are Mat Kelentong and today Malaysians address them as Why Be. Kesian kat Malaysians to always have to ask their Ministers Why Be. No wonder the Ministers are confused.

  36. Khiary has made a statement saying that Zahid’s statement is a personel one. But wait a minute, Khiary is Youth & Sport Minister, a junior minister but Zahid is the all powerful Home Minister. One top of 3 besides the Prime Minister. Let us get over the logic.

Who is bigger? Home Secretary or Sport Minister

    I rest my case

  37. The newly appointed Home Minister looks all that mighty when he is arrogant without a sense of responsibility when he told those not happy with the election results can migrate to other countries. Such arrogance and low level of human dignity should not have been appointed as a minister representing Malaysia. People can put him in a different category when he was a Defence Minister….speaking and articulating like a warlord.
