This is the best way to describe Dr Mahathir. Mahathir would have done a Brutus on anyone. Najib is a small fry to him.
If he can do that to Tunku Abdul Rahman, no one else is safe. That is why we say his 22 years as Premier was a nightmare. Malaysians are better off without his legacy — the UMNO of 1988 which is now inherited by Najib. Tunku Abdul Rahman is not here to defend himself.
The granting of citizenship to more than 1 million non-Malays before 1957 was for the purpose of nation building. It was for a higher calling. The granting of citizenship to the Filipinos and an assortment of other nationalities done by Mahathir was directed at consolidating his power.
These are two different things. One served a higher calling and for the advancement of the 
greater good. The one did by Mahathir serve a narrower interest- his lust for power. The difference should be obvious to any right thinking person. We need not even go to the granting of citizenship as a precondition of the British giving independence to Malaya. Or we were not yet independent when Mahathir started his project IC in Sabah? But there is a more pertinent point here.

If Mahathir is keen to have RCI, we should agree to have a RCI that investigates his activities when he was Prime Minister for 22 year plus years.
The Tunku adopted the principle of jus soli when he granted citizenship to the Chinese, Indians and others at the time of Independence. It was part of the deal with the British and members of the then Alliance Party, the precursor of Barisan Nasional. That is different from giving citizenship to Filipinos and Indonesians in Sabah for the purposes of getting them to vote for Barisan Nasional.
Tunku’s is an act of statesmanship where Mahathir’s is regarded by many political analysts and civil society leaders as a treasonous act.–Din Merican

Tunku’s time was about the birth of a nation, and the non’s were given citizenship similar to that given in other newly independent countries in Asia and Africa. For Mahathir it was to ensure continued federal control over resource rich Sabah as there were rumblings of a possible secessionist move by some Sabah leaders. So it was bribe them over and eventually smother them with Muslim numbers via project IC. Clever Kutty and clever BN etall !!!

MM is at his wits end. He is going all out to ensure the safety of his VAST Fortune he has alledgedly amassed during his 22 years tenure as PM not his legacy. He did not give two hoot of his legacy.
There is a point here. Mahathir by bringing up the issue of jus soli ultimately revealed his identity of being the ultra-Malay that he has hidden for decades. ONLY ULTRA MALAYS weave this fantasy, they would not outright debate for decades, that independence was possible without granting of citizenship to the Indians and Chinese.
Mahathir, bringing up this issue, ultimately showed he is a freaking idiot of who he is – from the anarchist of ultra-Malays movement of yesteryears..
When Tunku granted citizenship to million Chinese and Indian, many of these were long-term migrants who have worked during the British colonial rule and it was an arrangement to have them have a home / country to call their own. Only then was Malaya born….
In the case of Mahathir, it was so blardy obvious, 3-4 weeks before elections and giving out 70,000 just like that…. it is an act of treason!
The government should follow up with a trial and charge these fellas from Megat Junid, Aziz Shamsuddin and Mahathir and if found guilty, do a Saddam on them….
Yeah..! why not do RCI on Semenanjung ,as there is possibility of abuse in granting citizenship in Semenanjung as well.
In our daily life we often stumble into a person who totally cant’s or hardly able to speak Bahasa Malaysia but we know for sure they are Malaysian citizen. How this come about ?, didn’t we suspect that something are not right in their citizen status .
There so much being said about corruption ,thus this could be the result of corrupt practice that a Malaysian that could not speak Bahasa Malaysia which are the national language of the nation.

I Salute on your comment. Why, in Malaysia we allowed this kind of corrupt practices escape prosecution. Yet, these people live as if nothing happens and honored with such honorific titles when they retire from service which they managed corruptly, including their spouses. Only in Malaysia, i think. We, most of all are to be blamed for voting them and allowing them to manage the Country as it is now……Till when are we going to be a matured citizen with matured rights to choose maturely the right candidate and party to manage our Country. These folks were UMNO grassroot folks…..Just as how PAP won over UMNO singapore folks during the earlier 50s. Looess47 – I think you are wrong about Tunku who started the Ketuanan Melayu concept. As far as I know, the Tunku saw all Malaysians as equal, even though the constitution provided a special place for Malays, which most Malaysians of my age, did not, and still do not question. The Ketuanan Melayu concept was capitalized upon by Abdul Razak to attempt to propel his supporters into the business sector to control and gain resources to support the future of UMNO. It was Octopus Nonhumanesis who used it to turn his offsprings into billionaires, and everyone in BN jumped into the bandwagon of pillaging the Malaysian treasury and making second class citizens out of non muslims. Yes, if Jaafar Onn had his way, we would today, not have the divisions of race in our country. But, fate is that Malaysians would be saddled with one of the most corrupted and immoral leader of the globe as the reward for our people accepting Ketuanan Melayu in return for citizenship. He build white elephants, looted the treasury, enriched his family, promoted racism, corrupted our judiciary, put his deputy in jail, and everyone still praised him then. Today, with the possibility of PKR taking over, the crooks, the thieves, the murderers, are now running for cover, spilling beans, and selling out secrets, so that they can join the next bandwagon. Our issue now is truly, how do we take the opportunity to change our government for better, and how do we build a nation united despite the differences in heritage and religion, and most important of all, how to avoid the pilferage, the corruption, and the evil mongering by the likes of Ibrahim Ali – the one most deserving of going to the next life soon.
This is two different issue, one was done due to the formation of Malaya. The other was due to race and religion to stay in power.

No, ” Ketuanan Melayu ” is a misnomer, it was coined lately amid all the bickerings….Article 153 is NOT to be interpreted or misinterpreted as Ketuanan Melayu. The so-called ‘ special privileges’ accorded to the Malays was the quid pro quo of agreeing to confer Citizenship to the non-citizens under the Brit’s patronage.
That ‘ privilege’ was conferred to cover Malay handicap in the Economic sector…..to sort of correct the imbalance between the three ethnic groups of Malaysians. Whilst non=Malay Malaysians are making headway in the political arena, Malays are equally trying their utmost to come to the level playing field in the Economic activities of the nation….” Ketuanan” is nonsense….its a HANDICAP given….but its not meant to be Hijacked by the Few to enrich themselves in the crony system of patronage….

Tunku may not have apologised over this concept of his but deep down inside, he regretted that it happened. Since then, Malaysia has went down hill. Hence, this 13GE is very important, Pakatan must win else……
I truly believe that the only way to integrate our country, (1) remove the classification of race and religion from our birth certificates and government records, (2) re-engineer NEP only for the poor or disabled (3) ensure there is no limitations on race or religion in all non religious educational sector, (4) hire people in government based on merit (5) completely change BTN or eliminate it (6) enforce the idea of complete unity all school levels, (7) recover the lost billions stolen (8) revitalize our judiciary (9) ensure that the entire government strives for betterment of all Malaysians, not their heads of department – ie clean up the civil service. It will take years for us to reverse what Razak and Octo has done to the country. PKR despite its shortcomings, represents an opportunity for our people to return Malaysia to its roots of an integrated country, free of despots and crooks. Malaysians. BN is simply to corrupt to be able to change. We should not waste this one opportunity to make our country Malaysia, a country we can truly call home.
Election is a numbers game. He who can sensationalize the masses win and the some of these masses are the increasing new MyKad phantoms to put Selangor and Penang at stake. Intellectuals can talk and talk here; much which the man on the street is less interested. The game is the last 10m dash when parliament dissolves on 222. Who gets nominated would see how they match face to perceptions and expectations. Next two months we can expect increased intensity. PK has too much hard work to do against the increased MyKad phantom voters? Does PK hold its due diligence over voters’ roll of recycled IC numbers of dead people and dead babies coming of voting age? One vote per Malaysian; dead or alive.
Would be tough for PK. Phantom votes can circumvent pertinent intellectual issues that only few have the trouble to care whereas most can be swayed into juicy talks in the last 10m dash.
