Shahrizat stays as Wanita UMNO Chief and You, Principled Kamilia?

by Shannon Teoh@http://www.themalaysianinsider.com

Datuk Seri Najib Razak insisted today there was no reason for Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to cease being Wanita UMNO Chief as there is no proof or charge of wrongdoing in the RM250 million National Feedlot Centre (NFC) scandal.

Although Shahrizat announced on March 11 she would step down as women, family and community development minister when her senatorship ends on April 8, the veteran politician said she would continue to lead the 1.3-million strong wing.

“This is the policy of UMNO as something is not proven yet or there must at least be a charge. If not there is no need to give up,” UMNO President Najib told a press conference today.

Shahrizat was called in for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last month over allegations she and her family abused a RM250 million federal loan meant for the national cattle farming scheme but has not been hauled up to court.

However, her husband Datuk Seri Mohamad Salleh Ismail, who owns the National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) with their three children, pleaded not guilty on March 12 to criminal breach of trust and offences under the Companies Act in relation to RM49 million in public funds.

Najib also said he had met Shahrizat and her Vice Chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim and the duo had agreed to cooperate despite the latter recently calling for Shahrizat to relinquish leadership of the wing.

The Wanita Yawn greets Najib’s Decision on Shahrizat

The UMNO President’s remarks today left open the possibility of Shahrizat contesting the next general elections or making a future comeback to revive her political career which had appeared earlier to have been buried by the scandal.

“Both leaders will cooperate fully after this as a united team. They will work effectively together as a team.Wanita UMNO pledged to support Shahrizat,” the Prime Minister said at the press conference attended by both leaders as well as the party’s top brass.

He was speaking after a closed-door session with several thousand from the ruling party’s women’s wing this evening turned into a show of strength for the embattled women, family and community development minister.

If there were supporters of Vice Wanita UMNO Chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim, they were nowhere to be found at the Putra World Trade Centre today, as those wielding placards and banners were fulsome in their calls for Shahrizat to continue leading the 1.3 million-strong wing and representing it in Cabinet.

Kamilia had said earlier this week the public felt something was “morally and politically wrong” with how the National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) was run and this was affecting preparations for a general election that must be called by May next year.

“People are poking fun at Wanita and calling us ‘cows’. The Wanita grassroots are saying it’s difficult to work (for the general election)… As a leader, we have to listen to what the grassroots are saying,” she was quoted as saying.

Najib also shrugged off suggestions that Shahrizat’s continued leadership of the wing would hurt Barisan Nasional’s election preparations. “It’s okay. We have to be fair. She has already taken the moral responsibility to resign from Cabinet.”

  1. Prime Minister Najib, what nonsense is this? You really deserve to lose the coming GE-13. You are a morally decrepit leader. Keeping Shahrizat as Wanita Head is a strategic error. NFC is serious matter and you lack the backbone to deal with it.

As for Kamilia, you should resign having failed to gain the support of the Prime Minister and Wanita UMNO. Even your supporters have abandoned you. How can you work with someone you condemn. What a shame!

  2. Jibby is being fair here. Fair to PR, providing them with more than a fighting chance by retaining Shahrizat.

  3. Now that the Great Leader Ah Jib Gor has spoken, it looks like Kamiliah has to eat cow shit and keep quiet as she does not want to lose her No.2 position. The Club of Obedient Wanita (COWs) is now getting interesting because Kamiliah;s position is going to be shaky so her supporters have to quickly seize the initiative and go on the offensive. With the AP Queen’s sizeable bank account, I am sure Kamiliah and her supporters can bank on the AP Queen’s support.

  4. Mr Bean, where is Sir Lancelot? Standing speechless before King Arthur!
You didn’t think I knew that one, did you?

  5. But Black Gold, do you know about the congress with the herd of cows — and a united congress?? You may want to ask Najib. He knows that one.

  6. Najib: “It’s okay. We have to be fair. She has already taken the moral responsibility to resign from Cabinet.”

I guess for Najib not renewing Shahrizat’s term as a senator and continuing her appointment as minister is akin to her resigning. What a spin? … as long as some Malaysians can still be fooled. With the strong support shown by her Wanita herd, Najib has to back down.

Until today her family has not even start servicing the RM250 million loan.
At the moment, Shahrizat’s and her family are untouchables (in both senses). Najib desperately needs her and her Wanita UMNO to help him win this GE.

Rafizi can start shoving out more cow-shit till the GE.

  7. Getting interesting….PM really a good leaders who really stand hard to his teams until proven guilty, rare species who dare to gamble victory just to defend cow girls. Made me wonder why at the first phase for not stopping this cow girl for stepping down as Minister….Najib moves really full with puzzles and difficult to forsee the loopy holes….hope the umnoes will accept their polling fates…maybe blurred and dome….

  8. This episode really showed out Ah Jib Gor’s weak and spineless leadership just like in many past occasions where his “resolutions” are more compromises than being decisive! His strong launch of Nw Economic Model and all the APCO-designed hoopla and hoo-ha just lasted three days and after Ibrahim Ali al-Kataki made some noises, he went on to invoke his father’s name “I am Tun Razak’s son, no way I am going to remove his NEP legacy!” What a lggard for a PM!

Cukuplah for now, get my blood pressure up each time I comment on this 1GasCylinder prime minister!

  9. I just don’t understand. Why does Najib keep on insisting that Sharizat stays? What kind of grip does Kak Ijat have on UMNO? It seems to be more iron clad than Kak Idah’s.

  10. For a long time the grapevine is clogged with stories of Rosmah and Shahrizat huddled in one corner of their room plotting their rise up the corporate ladder. They decide early in their career that men with power and money to throw are as good to them for as long as they last. The number of broken homes and famiies and broken careers they leave behind as they climb the corporate ladder are collateral damage to them. The friendship and loyalty they have for each other is meant to last the ages. Najib is not about to treat his wife’s partner in crime as cow fodder.

  11. “What kind of grip does Kak Ijat have on UMNO?” — didi

You may want to re-phrase your question thus: “What kind of grip does Rosmah have over Najib”. As experienced old geezers here would tell you. nothing that a regular dose of Kacip Fatimah could not do.

  12. what hold Sharizat has over Jibs? she has told him that as long as he leaves her alone she ‘ll make sure he wins the GE13?
that the remaining portion of the 250mio will be transferred to a bank in Kazachstan/Israel??
that she’d not squeal on his involvement in the A……….murder case??
that Rosmah won’t hear about his small tete a tete with her??

    pick your choice

  13. What “grip” has Shahrizat over Ah Jib Gor? Perhaps Izat has the same hand grip as Kak Rosmah on Ah Jib Gor’s b***s.

  14. what so iron lady from izat….agreed with you guys….probably najis ball are being squeed hard from izat….unbelievable from 1.2 millions cows girl…couldnt find a replaceble capble one from this cow dung….

  15. Wah so many fans of Kacip. Kacip is used to cut the beetle nut but of all items in the tepak sireh, the most interesting should be the gobek. Shahrom Yob has a very large selection of Gobek sireh.

  16. Cut the beetle nut, Semper?? My God ! I can imagine the agony Najib goes through. It is torture. The last time it happened to me, I had to tap my partner asking her to take it slow and easy. And she didn’t have to take no kacip.

  17. Why are you so forgiving & relenting? Have they got a trace of the people’s interest at heart? NO! It’s endless tricks, acrobatics & deception to stay in power. If you research globally & think thoroughly: Politicians are the roots of all the problems in the world: pillage & plunder; cronies; in-equality of races & incomes; hardship & grief turning to crime & tragedy; trillions of $$$ wasted worldwide on corruption, thefts, land-grabs, resource-grabs, amassing of projects, money outflow & laundering, white elephants & kickbacks; abuses, mismanagements, misuses, mismanagement, crime-fighting, strife, riots, wars. In the end, to cling to power & luxury, they will kill. Look at Idi Amin, Africa, N. Korea, Arab Spring.
Not after 55 years of UMNO! It must now be zero tolerance & striking back with the greatest force.

  18. Time Magazine quoted an economist at Morgan Stanley in Singapore as saying that the country might have lost as much as US$100 billion since the early 1980s to corruption (RM300 billion = 300,000 million).
Perwaja RM10 billion. Forex fiasco early 90s RM30 billion. Maminco scandalRM 1.6 Billion.
Bank Bumiputra Scandal RM10 billion. STAR-LRT bailout RM3.256 billion. RM 38.5 billion compensation to highway companies. Putra transport system, which cost RM4.486 billion. Maminco scandal RM 1.6 Billion. PKFZ 12 billion. Bank Islam RM700 million. M.V. Agusta & Proton lost RM 348 million. Wang Ehsan, oil royalty Terengganu RM7.4 billion. Philharmonic Orchestra has swallowed a total of RM500 million. Bailouts of Malaysia Airline System RM7.9 billion. Spent RM3.2 billion in teaching Maths and Science in English over 5 yrs. Jets and submarines to 2 private companies Perimeker & IMT Defence amounted to RM910 million. RM1.3 billion wasted building the white elephant Customs, Immig & Quarantine (CIQ) facilities on cancellation of the Scenic Bridge. National Service Training Programme yearly estimate of RM 500 million. RM 4.63 billion, ’soft-loan’ to PKFZ. RM250 in NFC Cowgate scandal. RM30billion with Sarawak’s CM & cronies in 31 years. RM 160 million for 300 computer labs in Sabah – only 2 completed. RM29 mil Tsunami Warning System doesn’t work.

UMNO & cronies are among the world’s biggest laughing-stocks, in some countries would have been charged with treason and jailed.

  19. PM Najib, we demand an answer! Why are you pretending all the massive multi-billion corruption & plundering are non-existent? Just one of the many cases here: Despite a registered letter from some 15 NGOs demanding arrest of Taib Mamhud after 31 years! & sarawkreport.org Where is your integrity, sense of shame and legitimacy to lead? You should be impeached for treason – deceiving & undermining Malaysia! I speak from NZ, rated among the top in the world for democracy & transparency.
