New plot to trigger emergency rule?

Written by  Wong Choon Mei, Malaysia-Chronicle

Malaysia’s US and Jew-bashing former leader Mahathir Mohamad finally got to combine his pet hatreds in one tremendous spin that he and current Prime Minister Najib Razak are gambling on to save their BN coalition from being kicked out at the ballot boxes come the 13th general election widely expected to be held this year.

Mahathir’s tirade and the manner in  which the issue has been stirred up by the mainstream media, which are mostly controlled by the UMNO-led BN government, have prompted speculation that this could be another ruse to incarcerate Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim and derail the advance of his Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance.

“Malaysia has definitely become a candidate for regime change because Malaysia does not recognise Israel and criticises various policies of the United States. America and Israel’s candidate for building a puppet government is Anwar Ibrahim. For a long time now they have fostered a close relationship with Anwar,” the 86-year-old Mahathir had written in his chedet blog.

Gave warning to Najib of ‘regime change

Mahathir again raised the subject at a press conference today, this time cautioning the Najib administration against the purported move that he has so far not offered an iota of evidence for, other than a rambling commentary strung together on his personal blog.

“I think I don’t have to advise him (Prime Minister Najib Razak). I just warn him that Anwar is the candidate for regime change, so be careful,” Mahathir told a press conference at the Perdana University on Wednesday.

Anwar, once Mahathir’s anointed successor before he was jailed on trumped-up sodomy and corruption charges for out-shinning his boss, is rated as having an even chance of leading the Pakatan to a historic win.

After sweeping 5 states and the Federal Territories in the 2008 election, the Pakatan has gained momentum, while Najib has failed to galvanize the sinking UMNO-led BN coalition.

Emergency rule to preempt Arab Spring style uprising

The situation is now critical for Najib and Mahathir as the loss of key states such as Selangor and Penang has derailed the UMNO gravy train, with supporters and division chieftains clamoring for greater allocations and access to the overly lucrative deals of the past. If Najib fails to retake Selangor in particular, it will be the political curtains for him, while UMNO is expected to implode with a massive exodus of members of all levels heading towards the Pakatan.

“I won’t be surprised if the US-Israeli angle is used to detain Anwar and slap on emergency rule to protect Malaysia’s sovereignty. What Mahathir and Najib are actually doing is to prevent an Arab Spring happening in Malaysia? Whether or not there is a ‘regime change’ depends on the people of Malaysia at the ballot boxes. It is also telling that Mahathir has finally acknowledged that the current BN government is a regime, hence the regime change he is warning about,” Tian Chua, a vice president of Anwar’s PKR party, told Malaysia Chronicle.

Antithesis

In his posting, Mahathir gave free vent to his dislike of his former deputy. Indeed, Anwar is the very antithesis of Mahathir, who is reviled by many Malaysians and the international community as well. He is considered to be a corrupt dictator in the style of Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, with scant regard for human rights and someone who would not hesitate to use violence to stay in power.

“Anwar, therefore, gives the impression of being a liberal; one who accepts and supports Western concepts like human rights, freedom in everything, anti-cronyism and corruption, rejects the New Economic Model, which is said to victimise certain ethnic groups here, and many more, in order to get praise and support from the US,” Mahathir wrote with a blistering pen.

Protecting ill-gotten gains?

At the press conference, he continued to spit at his arch enemy. Among reasons why Mahathir and the UMNO elite fear Anwar coming to federal power include the high probability that they will be prosecuted and made to return any ill-gotten gains salted away during their terms in office.

According to the Washington-based Global Financial Integrity during the decade from 2000 to 2009 alone, RM888 billion or US$291 billion left Malaysian shores in the form of illicit outflows.

“Anwar is good friends with Israel. He can appear to be all sorts… When he’s with the Chinese, he becomes Chinese. When he’s with the Malays, he is Malay. When he’s with Muslims, he becomes an ulama (religious scholar); when with Israel, he supports Israel… this sort of person, you cannot believe… he has no firm belief,” insisted Mahathir.

  1. Can this Octo say that he has had on contacts with Israeli leaders like Ehud Barak and Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu when he was a Prime Minister? Unfortunately the majority of Malays think he is sincere leader who has been a victim of fitnah. As a result, he can lie to his teeth.

  2. ” ….. this sort of person you cannot believe… “. – Mahathir about Anwar.

This 86 year old makes my toes laugh .. cos he expects us to believe a petty thief , a lair , a racist, and a manipulator of the Malay community who goes about pretending to be a saint.

  3. Emergency rule? Alarmist and inept conspiracy theorist, not much different from RPK-ian ramblings.

As for Octo, Thomas Malthus, the founder of Malthusianism and a great influence on people like C. Darwin, Alfred R. Wallace to J.Maynard Keynes had this to say about him two hundred years ago:
“Evil exists in the world not to create despair, but activity.”

The problem in UMNO today, is that they are inactive in proper things, but in frenzy, almost amok with improper things. Their leader comes across as weak and indecisive (i.e lembek); while his deputy, a doppelganger in thought if not action.

Meanwhile, this great ‘illumination’ by Octo, is as innocuous as is his twisted comparison of the events of 9-11 with the Cinematic special-effects of ‘Avatar’.. Monomaniac, monochromatic Madman, if only by design.

  4. “Malaysia has definitely become a candidate for regime change because Malaysia does not recognise Israel and criticises various policies of the United States. ” former Prime Minster Mahathir Mohamad

This only serves to confirm what many have always feared for some time now that he needs to get ready for that final ride on the back of that kerbau into the sunset. If he can’t get hold of a kerbau, he could try rent a cow from Shahrizat.

  5. Send hordes of Malay gangsters in the tradition of Hang Jebat to create havoc and chaos in the streets of Penang and burn churches and send others to bash in the skulls of some unfortunate Malays putting up election posters? That is not too remote a possibility especially when it is done for a ‘good cause’ which is the preservation of the dichotomy between Malay political control (read: UMNO) and Chinese economic domination (read: “UMNO-Chinese capitalist collusion”).

  6. When he’s with the Chinese, he becomes Chinese. When he’s with the Malays, he is Malay. When he’s with Muslims, he becomes an ulama (religious scholar); when with Israel, he supports Israel… this sort of person, you cannot believe… he has no firm belief,” insisted Mahathir.

    ———-

When Najib is with the Malays he raised up his keris and threatened to fill the TPCA stadium with Chinese blood. When he’s with the Chinese, he says “lu tolong gua, gua tolong lu”. When he’s with the Indian, he throw away his sarong and songkok and attire himself as a Hindu. When he’s with the Kandazan he put on the Kandazan Christian headgear. This sort of person, you cannot believe…he’s a snake.

  7. Pimp, the problem with that scenario, is that the Jebats will first have to contend with the Tuahs. Very bloody. The Katuris and Lekius meanwhile, will be selling thosai and char koay teow to the itinerant migrants watching the show. Penang might not be a good place to start with, neither K.L – too segregated. Perhaps in Ipoh, where Gen Tok Cik will have his barrels primed and cocked.

  8. Retired Gen Tok Cik has his gun cocked for too long in readiness all these years for Shahrizat whose affair with her ‘lembu’ has apparently turned him off. He has recently uncocked his aging M-16 which has not been oiled for a long time.

  9. M-16? I thought it was a bolt action Mauser. You know, one shot at a time? The last time it targeted a cow, it went off prematurely.
Goes to show that talking about Octo’ian rants ain’t good for our sanity. I guess rubbish needs rubbish to counteract the smell.

  10. When he’s with the Chinese, he becomes Chinese. When he’s with the Malays, he is Malay. When he’s with Muslims, he becomes an ulama (religious scholar); when with Israel, he supports Israel… this sort of person, you cannot believe… he has no firm belief,” Mahathir on Mahathir.

  11. what? Turn whole of malaya into a war zone??could be worst… Next thing you know it wont be a two party system the people will be wanting. No siree the freaks of malaya will be demanding for a two state solution in its stead… One ruled by bang Nuar and his pose of reformists , the other by Madir and his gang of extremists. Wait a minute , have this not occured already?

  12. M16?…i thought SLR 7.62 calibre deliver the effect of “bulls-eye”…anyway i don’t think Sharizat cows feared both the M16 or SLR…perhaps the Bofors 40/70 will do the job..

  13. Of late Mahafiraun has been ranting non-stop about the evils of Pakatan leaders which the B-end backed MSM has been hilighting to ensure his words would reach the hinterlands to brainwash the simple kampong folks who still sees Mahafiraun as their saviour.
Now why would Mahafiraun do this instead of retiring peacefully and enjoy the final years of his life ? He knows that if Anwar and opposition led parties wins the next GE, the mother of all ‘can of worms’ will be exposed which will end the B-end dynasty for good !

  14. SLR 7.62mm semi-automatic?

Thought that is no longer the standard weapon used by our Armed Forces. M16 is light weight which is important for our armed forces personnel whose average height is nowhere near 5’10” (which is my height) though less accurate. The SLR (the standard weapon of the Brits in the 60s) plus the bayonet weighs some 12 lbs but doesn’t jam that much and is more accurate up to 100 meters.

But nothing beats the water pistol.

  15. Sadly, the kampung folks and some gullible malays in the city bought Dr M’s bull. My facebook feed is full of these kind of people spewing hatred to the Jews and once a while, the Chinese or the Christians. The psych of the Malays is a very interesting topic for study. It’s more interesting though to study how Dr M is able to lie through his teeth so smoothly.

  16. If Mahathir starts a racial riots after 13th General Election he would be brought to Justice by America. It would be a sad end for him and his families.– Robert

Obviously you have zero understanding of the concept of sovereignty of a nation state.

  17. I really don’t see the benefit for Malaysia to appear as a hard line Islamic state that support Palestine while alienating the west with anti-human rights policies and crony monopolies. The last 2 is bad enough.

Anwar support the idea that any country has the right to defend itself and its citizens and the separation of Palestine from Israel. His critics takes the stand of Iran and denied Israels rights as a nation. This isn’t a solution, this is a declaration of war, so how do you expect Israel to response.

For nation far from the Middle east, why shouldn’t Malaysia distant itself from this crazy ideology.

  18. True. How do you feel if someone comes along and take occupation of your house and let you have the right to live in your toilet? And call your house a two nation state??

  19. robert, please allowed me to correct your fact:

The May 13 riot started when opposition party supporters began their illegal procession in the city…while marching they chanted and shouted racial slurs and provocation, especially to the malay masses,

The malays who felt threatened by the racial slurs and provocation gathered together with umno youth members at dato’ harun residence in kg bharu to stop the procession from escalating to violence and riots….however a certain irresponsible element spread the news that many malays were attacked in gombak…the news reached like ‘wild fire’ to the groups gathered at dato harun residence…as a result “hell broke loose”…the rest is history.

On the contrary today we wish to live in peace in this beautiful country…differences in political belief should never be the barrier to racial harmony, tolerance and peace…may God bless us and the nation always!

    Long live Malaysia!

  20. The kutty is dead worried of a change in gov, for be-end will be catastrophic. Many on the street are concerned and worried about the coming election. if PR will to win, will there be a smooth power transition, we just have to pray very hard for……
