Do you recognise this man? He is Che Det’s Puppet

October 12, 2008

Do you recognise this man (picture below), if you were to see him on the street? You should. On the back of this man who got things for himself on a silver platter, or on the back of hefty commissions, Che Det hopes to have his last hurrah (read Zaib Ibrahim’s comments in the Malaysian Insider). It will be a return of the politics of vengeance, or better known among academics—thanks to Dr. Khoo Boo Teik— as Mahathirism (authoritarian rule via ISA and Ketuanan Melayu). We had 22+ years of it. Isn’t that already a mouthful?

Tell me, fellow Malaysians, are we itching for more of this, or do we want change.? If the results of the 12th General Elections (March 8 ) and Permatang Pauh by-election (August 26) are any indication, we rejected not only Badawi’s leadership—gee whiz, I am delighted that he has quit and will make his exit in March 2009—but also the return of authoritarianism in whatever guise, and rule by ISA.

But now if we are remain indifferent or not careful, we will get “Najibism” which will be an unmitigated disaster, because behind this man is a lethal combination of the authoritarian Che Det and the unscrupulous and mean Rosmah Mansor as “First Lady”.

The mainstream media (even Kalimullah is offering the man some advice) is already promoting him aggressively together with Muhyiddin Yassin, and Mukhriz Mahathir as UMNO Youth leader. No chance for Tengku Razaleigh and sorry for Khairy Jamaluddin. All your war chest of money won’t help, KJ!

As for MCA, MIC, and Gerakan, everything is fine. Puppet, puppet lah. What is the difference? As long as they get their share of the loot, they will go along. And Badaw? He is spared of the mess he created. A Tunship (for Datuk Seri Jeanne Abdullah too, I guess) and a very generous gratuity await him from a thankful nation.—Din Merican

  1. Malaysia cannot afford another corrupt regime takeover anymore, when times were good oklah that they could plunder, but now the razak clan & family sharks are gathering, and they are the hungriest sharks around.

Believe me Malaysia cannot afford a Imelda Marcos take over, Yes I am talking about that short, ugly, fat, 2nd hand slut as Malaysia’s first lady. Yes folks I am talking about rosmah, whom I have Nicknamed Ugly Fat Oink, no insult intended to fellow muslims, but that slut is like a *ig, she soils and corrupts anything she touches. SHE IS FILTH. WE CANNOT AFFORD SUCH FILTH SITTING IN THE CORRIDORS OF POWER, ALREADY THERE ARE RUMBLINGS THAT SHE IS GETTING AN OFFICE BUILT FOR HER IN M.O.F., WHY?, WHO THE FOLK IS THIS SLUT, DID WE VOTE HER TO ANY POSITION? SO YOU CHOOSE WHETHER WE WANT THIS U.F.O. in the corridors of power.

  2. Yupp.. Najib will promote Mahathir’s style, but I think.. you (Din Merican) also Anwar’s puppet. You said it in your blog, are you?
“Right now, I am Program Director, Parti KeADILan Rakyat in the Office of Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim”..

So.. what a difference between you and Najib?

  3. I am totally against Najib being the PM not only because of this return to the ruthlessness of Mahathirism, but also that Malaysia MUST NEVER have a PM who has been accused of cold blooded first degree murder and yet has no guts to face the accusations but instead runs away and hides like a criminal. This same man who has promised to shed innocent Chinese blood – yeah, call me a coward cause I am Chinese!

  4. I refuse to accept the decision by 1 man that Najib be at the helm. We still have till March 09 and its time enough for Anwar to perform his trick, commencing tomorrow.

We do not want a lee kuan yew type control in this part of the world. Singaporeans being passive as they are (Please don’t take it as derogatory to all singaporeans) have taken this type of control but we do not. This is was made clear in the GE12, PP by election and the Hindraf

  5. Correction. Based on recent news, Mahathir is behind Najib, Mahyuddin and Mukhriz. Imagine if all the three take over the country. We are going into a new era of Mahathir reinvention. An dark era of ISA, Gerrymandering, Evidence fabrication, corrupt judiciary and inefficient public sector. What is the PR doing now? We can’t just sit and watch the circus, can we? It is going to be an awfully cruel circus, not entertaining at all.

  6. Cekka,

which would u prefer given a choice ? a mahathir style puppet or a anwar style puppet

people like u shud be sent over to Kamunting if i happen to be d Home Ministry 🙂 instead of RPK !

tell me which is a greater evil ….. an accussed sodomizer or an accussed murderer in d case both had been proven guilty ?

    have a nice evening

    cheers

  7. Dear sir and all Malaysian readers,

It looks much like the ‘out of the fire and into the pit’ story is set for the nation.

It cannot be and we should never let it be.

How can we walk the days through when an individual who is continously alleged for horrendous crime be the leader of a nation? Come on Malaysians, this is not a war crime but a crime of murder against a single individual and all for money.

OKAY. Our UMNO friends insist that the DPM is their premier choice for PM material. This being the case, should Najib then not step down, clear his innocence and then rise like a shooting star?

And what is Che Det talking about “keep your family away”? My God, does a PM material need to be told of such? And by even suggesting this is Che Det not reaffirming what we fear most?

Someone has to put the brakes and break fast. Otherwise, Malaysia will soon dissappear from the radar of model nation.

Therefore, DSAI if you fail, you fail 27 million plus the next generation of citizens. Take the Nike slogan: DO IT! And do it now please.

  8. By d way Din,

i havent made up ma mind whether to remember him as …..

plain Jib Al Tan Tuya bin Mongolia or SubMarine Jib Al Toyah

    cheers

  9. Najib was the chief campaign boss to lead the BN charge for both the GE12 & PP by elections and his campaigns lost disastrously and yet he is being richly rewarded to be the next PM. What an international JOKE!!! Malaysia truly BOLEH!

  10. Dear Mr.Din Merican,

I see that you are living up to your blog’s namesake but where is your spin coming from?
I am apolitical by persuasion and an ardent reader of both the mainstream and “sidestream” media.
With due respect to you sir, it is obvious, what the political aspirations of both the PKR and BN camps are. Having said that, may I give you the aspirations of those of us on the middle ground.
As much as we want change, for more transparency, accountability and competency in governance,we are also faced with this conundrum – both the key players contending for the top job are equally tainted – despite all the mud slinging, the fact remains that all are innocent till proven guilty !
The PKR has no proven track record to brag but it has no excess baggage to drag either; the BN on the other hand has a proven track record but it has a closet full of skeletons to bear!
Najib has his faults as you have glaringly posted above but Anwar was no saint either but we are hopeful that his sabbatical sojourn at the courtesy of the ISA has reformed him.
Of major concern is the monkey on his back – of being tagged a US lackey and his pro IMF (International Mother Fakir ) inclinations during the AF crisis.
People on the streets want change and are willing to give the PKR the mandate to bring about that change because it is obvious that the only way to clear the political landscape is by weeding out all the swamping undergrowth which the BN has failed to do so miserably, for obvious reasons.
The PKR will only be a force to be reckoned with if all its component parties will remain true to its individual ideology because its diverse core values, when unified, will act as a check and balance to bring the party to new heights.
But by no means, rest on your laurels(if you guys get the votes) and fall asleep on the job like AAB ,be prepared for a rude awakening, because when the two party system kicks in,there will be no room for complacency across both sides of the political divide.
More Power to the People !

  11. God help us all ! A suspect in the Altantuya murder is to be the next PM of Malaysia ?
Malaysia ‘bukan keluarga Najib, Mahathir atau Pak Lah punya tapi Rakyat punya !’.
Tengku Razaleigh would have been a better choice.
Still the Majority of Malaysians want a Change of Government that has the RESPECT,TRUST & CONFIDENCE of the people.
That Leader is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister with Pakatan Rakyat of Keadilan-Pas-Dap Government for All Malaysians NOT for a small Group of Umnoputras/BN Cronies like the useless Gerakan Party !

  12. “Najib must keep cronies and family members at bay, says Mahathir Oct 12, 11:16 ”

This is what I mean by excess baggage!
What a load of bs coming from the lower end of the man,who at his heydays, had the largest horde of bagmen at his behest, second only to Marcos!
Or is this another case of “Melayu mudah lupa” for this pseudo Malay?

  13. To compare najib with anwar is the epitome of injustice.
Many have grudges against anwar, mainly because their periuk nasi was broken during the last ‘AF crisis’. Much water has passed under the bridge since then, and we’re going into another severe economic meltdown, despite the ridiculous denials of the ruling junta.

Anwar was jailed for political expediency, and the 6 yrs. incarceration changed him. As a student leader in UM, he was bISAedb for fighting for the poor and disenfranchised. His whole life has been dedicated to serve the marginalized, but he was tainted by MM’s corruption, cronyism and nepotism. He has more than paid the price for this folly – for which many of the ‘middle ground’ arm chair critics like me have forgiven him. He has always been an anti Establishment rebel with undescribable charisma and insight.
Otoh, we have the son of a former PM, whose life reeks of high priviledge, who has manicured nails – what does Najib know of the poor and marginalized? The aspects of his personal life are replete with stories, real or imagined, of perverse moral-ethical issues. His style of leadership is neo feudalistic to the core – to the likes of Mahatir. Can he be an effectual leader when there is no empathy for the citizens of this blighted nation? I doubt it. Furthermore he will be severely cobbled by his old grandmaster, not to mention his strong willed wife. More of the same ruined, failed nationhood.

Malaysians are at the crossroads, one mistake and we are all goners. I certainly will not be a toady up to a feudalistic, rascist and fascist party which is in extremis now.
    Yeah right, who cares?

  14. din, after what u did to deminegara’s article (including your name in it), do you still believe you have the credibility to give any opinion now?

    HAHAHA

this article is just another attempt to vilify najib over some paranoia over tun’s past administration.

din, please remove your name from deminegara’s article which you republished in this blog of yours and apologise for this blatant act of syok sendiri..

    malu la sikit.

  15. Cekka,

besides this two fer a choice, do u have anyone in mind currently ?

both mayb bad, we only have a choice of a lesser evil in politicals not greater saint to choose from 🙂

yes i wish i could be d Home Minister in d comfort of ma home …… with ma wifey playing d Finance Ministry role so i could have a free flow of beers without worrying about price of potatoes n petrol 🙂

    cheers

  16. Simply put, the New night soil carier of and for the 22 year regime Head.

He will send shivers through your spines, people!

Dr. Shaaribuu can tell you ‘AL’ that!

  17. Under Najib, things will go from worst to down the gutter. Be ready for some really tough times under Najib/Rosmah and Mahathir in the background.

  18. For a start, I vote for any party that will abolish ISA and throw the DNA bill out of Parliament.

cekka, I admit I don’t know the future, but I will give DSAI a chance to implement the above, then the next term I shall evaluate his performance before voting for the next PM.

Currently our PM is not voted by Rakyat but is selected by ex-PM and sacked by UMNO. Najib is not a PM voted by rakyat, but both were voted by Mahathir. I have enough of Mahathir, and when Mahathir die (soon) I don’t want his ghost to haunt the corridors of power.

  19. Din,

Looks like a very gloomy future for us, Malaysian in general. Many viewed politicians as savior, generation after generation, but the politicians turned out to be more like a thief. Can we wait for another generation ?

Everyone kept talking about self sacrifice for the sake of the country, I did not see those politician doing the same for their own kind, especially their own family members. They went on lavish entitlement to education, anything the best their own kind can imagine.

What Malaysia is in dire need a strong system to keep the politician in check , be it current ruling government or opposition. Because left alone, anyone is likely to be corrupt.

Now you know why we have an University Act to curtail our academics from producing bright students to lead, because the politics in Malaysia is like wayang Kulit, only a few characters(watak) and ONLY limited to the few, wanting to pass it on thru the generations and generation to their own kind only, thus we need a law to prevent students & academics from excel to take on the leading baton. Because if others become too smart, the baton cannot be passed on from father to son.

    -woody

  20. alahai Din…

    tak approve lagi my comment?

    tak berani ka?

it seems that what deminegara said is true after all…

    HAHAHA

you know and I know that you don’t have the integrity and the moral courage to do the right thing. just like your boss anwar.

    you guys are fake.

  21. If we don’t do anything positive NOW and turn things around, looks like we will once again be stuck with scumbag sons, sons-in-law of former Prime Miinisters as if it’s their godgiven right to ‘rule’ this land! Let’s not forget, we all love this country of ours, not theirs so we and all in UMNO must reject them and let’s see to it that the best man leads this nation and turn things around.

They say Melayu ‘mudah lupa’? I do not agree with that 100%. We have a bunch ball-carriers – spineless scums of the earth who call themselves leaders in Gerakan, MIC, MCA, and other BN component parties – they too have contributed greatly and they should also take the blame .

There is no denial where we are today is the result of the big mess left behind by that Mamakfler who ruled this land for 22 years – the blatant abuse of power, judiciary rot, rampant corruption, divide and rule policies and deliberate abuse of ISA against ordinary Malaysian citizens that PM Abdullah Badawi inherited.

Those in UMNO and Barisan Nasional, please wake up and do something! Search your conscience if you have any?

Don’t we have enough of Mahathirism that also saw Anwar Ibrahim arrested and jailed as a result of trumped up charges against him, then dragged, tortured with broken collar-bone and a black eye, remember? You and I will not be spared if the former dictator is once more allowed to dictate terms and form his ‘Cabinet Ministers’ from the comfort of his airconditioned room. This will be another joke for the world to see, how useless Malaysians can be if we allow a repitition of his leadership!

We don’t need tainted characters – murder suspect, daylight robbers and racists and hypocrites who swear to bathe their keris in Chinese blood to take the top seats of the Malaysian government?

NO to them, NO to Najib and his gang! Will the ghost of Altantuya and her departed ancestors be watching over us?
Let’s not just pray, but do something!

  22. I think Cekka and Harus needs to clear their minds – we are not electing saints here, we do need change in our country and like it or not, Anwar has a better platform to offer than Barisan Nasional, that clear distinction has nothing to do with who is better off for sainthood.

And I dont know how anyone who reads the mainstream and alternative media can claim that Anwar is a puppet of the west, or a puppet of the United States. To come to such a conclusion evidences biased in the mindset, so please dont insult us.

  23. THE POST OF DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

The post of deputy PM is not provided for by our Federal Constitution 1957. Only the post of Prime Minister is provided for; and it comes under Article 43 of the said Constitution.

What exactly are the powers of the Deputy PM if not to act as his stand-in during the PM’s absence overseas – or in the event he is incapacitated by poor health. Whatever powers the deputy has are whatever informal powers the sitting PM chooses to allow him. A weak Prime Minister would let his deputy influence his policies and decision-making process. A PM like Mahathir would not want his deputy to be strong, but remain weak.

In the U.S. Presidential system, the post of Vice President is provided for by the U.S. Constitution, for example, whoever is the VP is also the President of the U.S. Senate, and would be the next in line should the U.S. President become incapacitated. Our Federal Constitution is silent.

In our system said to be modeled after the Westminster model of parliamentary democracy, we do not get to choose the country’s PM (unlike the U.S Presidential system where the people get to choose their president every four years) We do not.The Agong does. Also Article 43 (2)(a) makes no mention that he has to be the President of the ruling party but only a person “who in his (Agong’s) judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of that House.” It does not have to be the President of UMNO, for example, it could be anybody who, in his opinion, is likely to command the confidence of the majority. Admittedly and invariably, this would mean the President of UMNO but it does not have to be.

The convention that grew since the country’s political independence in 1957 has been that the PM is always succeeded by his deputy (except in the case of Abdullah Badawi) i.e. the deputy PM ( a post not constitutionally provided for by our written constitution), who is earlier appointed by the PM from among his party’s VPs to assist him in his administration. It has allowed the deputy Prime Minister a post not provided for constitutionally (no reference is provided by our Federal Malaysian Constitution 1957) to become PM. If that has been the intent, the framers of our Constitution would have provided for it – but there is not even a hint anywhere, a reference direct or indirect anywhere in the pages of our Constitution.

It is perhaps not untimely that we consider abolishing the post of Deputy PM since it is not provided for by our federal constitution – or amend the Federal Constitution to allow for it.

  24. Yeah I’m still hoping Bapak Snoozer does a final flip and out he goes! Well that old fart did it a few times. That Najis is getting too arrogant even before he gets the job.

  25. “And I dont know how anyone who reads the mainstream and alternative media can claim that Anwar is a puppet of the west, or a puppet of the United States. To come to such a conclusion evidences biased in the mindset, so please dont insult us.”
To all you diehard Anwaristas out there, if I had inadvertently ruffled your feathers, let me say that I am only calling it the way the dices are thrown.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and please,I am not here to insult anyone.
And it certainly looks like we don’t really have much of a choice and I agree with some of the other posters ,if I may coin the phrase,” it is better to have the devil you know than the devil you don’t”.
What I am stressing here is, are we really absolutely sure that we know the “devil”?
But like I said, the nation is caught between a rock and a hard place because the consequence of not having a regime change will be even more disastrous….
All I am saying is this – For all our sakes and the sake our beloved country ,Anwar had better prove his detractors wrong .
Like what “menlayak-er” said, “one mistake and we are all goners”.

  26. Menyalak -er said;

“Otoh, we have the son of a former PM, whose life reeks of high priviledge, who has manicured nails – what does Najib know of the poor and marginalized?”

FYI, anwar ibrahim’s dad was a parliament secretary in the cabinet last time. Anwar led a privileged life too. He too had his nails manicured and wore armani ties and armani suits when he was the DPM.

Pak Lah’s dad was the deputy chief minister of Penang back in the early 70’s.

You think anwar really fought for the poor? He was doing a syok sendiri spree back then. He stepped on the Malaysian flag in Baling. That was why he was ISA-ed.

Anwar when in the govt didn’t give a rat’s ass about the poor. Just ask the ppl Baling when he was the DPM. What did he do about them when he joined Umno? Zilch.

  27. 27 | Jong

    October 13th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

“waah, missing in action eh Bean? Two days sanguine and three days missing? ”

Fell flat on my face and broke all my teeth is not my kind of holiday, Jong! 😦 Ferried to JFK hospital after a 911 call by good samaritans and landed in ER for a good day! No donuts for me for a while.

  28. Mr Bean

Hope you are OK. Imagine this happening in Malaysia? The 911 dispatcher will ask if you are still alive, then get a taxi to come to ER. Life is precious in the UofSA.

Were you distracted by donuts when you fell? Donuts especially the soft ones are best for you after losing all your teeth. Wash down with some Latte. Speedy recovery Bean.

  29. Now when Din Merican becomes Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the U.N. he is not going to hire me to carry his bag. I have nothing to offer more than a toothless grin! I can no longer put teeth on my donuts and my buns 😦

  30. Thanks, Shrek.

The receptionist at the office of my oral surgeon just couldn’t understand how I could have fallen so hard and flat on my face. She is convinced that I was on high heels when it happened. A cross dresser?? I told her not to say that too many times because my wife is likely to believe her!

The 911 call and the ER (I rather refer to it as ER than ED because ED could mean erectile dysfunction and might stir Jong’s imagination the wrong way) are excellent over here. Six years ago they cut open my chest and stopped my heart so they could do the necessary plumbing work and got my heart to tick again. Now I’m a semi- bionic man! Soon there won’t be a part of me that is original. Every part of your anatomy can be adjusted – extended even if that’s what is needed!

Imagine hospitals in Malaysia would be screaming for your money upfront and you’d be dead before you could call mama or nenek! The public health system in Malaysia is non-existent. Here it doesn’t matter who you are. If you have health insurance, your health insurance pays for the cost of the surgery which is USDSL55,000.00 for a heart bypass. If you don’t have one, the U.S. taxpayers would be paying for the cost. You may be an illegal speedy Gonzales, the U.S. taxpayers would still be paying for it. The hospitals cannot refuse you. However, now that states like California are going bankrupt – they have no money to pay their teachers’ salaries in a few months’ time – I don’t know who is going to pay. You and I may have to take what’s left of our 401k and return to Malaysia and tanam jagong!

In the U.K. it is even better. Your wife gets pregnant (hopefully by you) and she goes to the hospital for delivery and you not only get a free delivery (of your child of course), you get a nurse who would visit your wife at home and teach you how to put on diapers (on the child of course – not on you!) and have milk delivered free (cow’s milk of course). Your immigration status and work status does not matter.

Will Malaysia ever find itself in the same situation?

  31. En. Din,

Strictly speaking, within the confine of this article per se – YBM Ku Li is the best that UMNO can offer. Period.

Much has been said about Datuk Seri Anwar, in particular the trumped-up-recent-criminalcharge; pertaining to this intergral paramount issue, I say, Qazaf is a grave offence in Islam to contemplate and insinuate anyone with a Qazaf offence is a sinful act and the doer remains a fasiq. God forbid. I will not become one of them.

Semoga Allah melindungi dan memberkati usaha ikhlas Datuk Seri Anwar bersama angkatannya.

  32. I just saw the interview DSAI the leader of the opposition after today’s Parliament .Its an absolute disgrace the Finance Minister did not even bother to turn up.He did’nt turn up at the recent Finance Minister’s Develoment Conference at the UN in New York either. The man is either ignorant, stupid lazy or just scared out of his pants to face the public, just in case a reporter asks him to swear he never sent those SMS messages to Shaffee even BEFORE Razak Baginda was charged.

  33. Bionic Bean

Waaah so many parts replaced or repaired. Yes I agree the ER and Emergency services here are excellent.

California is facing a Cash crisis. First was the budget impasse then the financial meltdown. California have difficulty borrowing money with the current banking crisis. Gov. Arnold will have to figure this one out.

Health services and medical care have always been an issue seeing the large numbers of illegals in California. Several large county hospitals are overworked and strained to the limits as more private ER and trauma centers close down.

I dread getting into an accident or fall sick in Malaysia. The emergency services are almost non existent. Ambulances and paramedics are scarce. It’s usually faster to get to ER by taxis. In the ER they are more concerned with filling out the paperwork instead of seeing the patient or at least getting a triage nurse to determine the urgency.

So we have to think real hard about balek kampung tanam jagong. Our lives will not be worth saving in Malaysia lest we are a VIP.

Watching 2 big fires close to my home. One is over 3700 acres and the second is over 750 acres. A third just flared up.

  34. Najib is blinded by that eyeglass. No wonder he can’t see what’s going on around him. Everything looks Rosy as in Che Mah Chot.
If he plans to disguise himself he needs a wig and a face job like Che Mah Chot. Right now he is in competition with Angelina Jolie for the fat lips.

  35. No way he can ever come close to Angie Baby. He’ll give Danny La Rue or Dame Edna a run of their monies, though! :-))

  36. Mr Bean and Ocho Onda
So many Malaysian women go goo goo gaa gaa over Najib’s lips. Ask Jong. Najib should also sign up as “organ donor”. Those lips could centainly find a home elsewhere.

Guess Najib needs those lips to give ‘lip service’ when confronted with issues. Maybe in a meeting with GW Bush he can always say ‘read my lips’

  37. “Go goo gaa gaa” over Najib’s lips? You must be nuts Shrek, to think so! Maybe his fat blob, over his pocket.

That SOB is not fit to be where he is today let alone a PM in waiting. Read he did not even attend Parliament yesterday – did not, dared not or too arrogant and irresponsible!

One thing is clear – he has no respect for the people’s elected rep in Parliament(MPs representing 40%+ Msian electorates), that they are not to be taken seriously and take us for downright fools?

There’s no excuse for this ‘new’ Finance Minister to give Parliament a miss, when he knew pretty well(the press/tv media had been focusing on that for days!) that the rakyat are concerned about the current economic situation of the nation. Issues relating to the budget need clarification. The last budget presented by FM/PM Badawi who within weeks swapped ministeries with his deputy.

For Najib to distance himself from Parliament, that’s dereliction of duty!
Apparently it was reported he was ‘seen’ in Parliament building but he did not attend the peoples Parliament sitting that was in progress, WHY?

What can be more important than Parliament’s first day of sitting after Hari Raya break when the whole nation is eyes and ears on what the Finance Minister’s next course of action in view of current global economic crisis?

Is Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, all that Najib the new Finance Minister who is also the Deputy PM, cares for? He cannot avoid Anwar forever. Anwar will be there eyeball to eyeball facing him in Parliament every session until he takes over the Federal government!

We know Anwar was ‘aiming’ at him the Finance Minister, shouldn’t he be? He has the mandate of the electorates he respresents. Most rakyat are all behind this Opposition Leader and his Pakatan Rakyat team to throttle the Finance Minister and his government’s stand on their ‘outdated’ budget and get intelligent answers!

  38. Mr Bionic Bean,

I’m sorry to hear of your ‘misfortune’ and your ED! 😀
Hope you are fine now. You are lucky to be in New York with an efficient paramedics. 😀

  39. I am no anwarist, and nor have I forgotten his failures as an educational minister. My hope is that the years and trials have made him more aware of the failures of our nation and the opportunity to forge ahead, a more prosperous and equitable nation.

  40. Jong
Shrek didn’t “think” that women go goo goo gaa gaa over Najib’s smacker. Shrek just notice that many bloggers mention the pink smackers when describing Najib. Shrek still have all my marbles. Cuckoo cuckoo

Yes no excuse for the new FM to miss Parliament especially during this economic trying times. Parliament should move to cut his pay for each day he’s absent as FM.

  41. Najib’s in Parliament today – dah kena hentam in blogs, but Bapak Snoozy is missing – perhaps burning midnight oil working his butts off trying to ‘deliver’ his 2004 promises before he leaves in 5 months time? Hahaha, new-found ‘super power’! Boleh percaya kah?

I am eerily suspicious when yesterday he came to the defence of his designated successor Najib, that all those allegations against him in Altantuya’s murder cannot be believed and that he believed Najib to be a good person.
Hmmm…. his predessor Dr M assured us he(PM Abdullah Badawi) was a ‘clean’ politician, is he?

What makes him do that – to come out in open to defend Najib and expect the rakyat to believe him? He had been keeping a tight lip on Najib’s and his wife Rosmah Mansor’s alleged involvement in Mongolian Altantuya’s gruesome murder. Why now? Is the PM under pressure to do so?

  42. Jong

Badawi and Najib are both playing a game. Both have agreed on an exit and transition plan. Badawi knows Najib secrets and Najib also knows of certain Badawi secrets. Both have allowed some of the secrets to leak out. But both have not reacted. Now the next step is to be nice to each other lest more secrets are leaked out.
Call it double dare or double jeapordy.

  43. Unlike RPK, yours truly is not God’s gift to mankind or in my case, should I say womankind. Ask Jong – she’s convinced I’m no gift to womankind. So James Chua you’d have to do without me during the Christmas season! Thanks for the concern.

I’d love to be in KL during the X’mas season because I don’t think there’s another city in the world that celebrates X’mas and New Year the way Malaysians celebrate them. Look at the lights, Santa Claus in all the hotel lobbies, shopping malls, coffee houses etc. You can drink and drive! Where else can you find such freedom?? It is freedom, isn’t it??

Everywhere else X’mas is the time for ‘balek kampong’. Over here it is Thanksgiving Day which is on November 27th this year, an American tradition. They return to their families to have that turkey dinner (you don’t want to go into the history of Thanksgiving because it is mostly myth. It is just Europeans feeling guilty about the atrocities they committed against the natives and they needed the story to feel good about themselves).

I hope before the next X’mas I’d be carrying Din Merican’s attaché case to meetings with leaders of the free world when he becomes Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the U.N. – or the next Big Duta (Duta Besar) of his country that the former U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr. John Mallot thinks he should be. It would be a remarkable story of a boy raised single handedly by his mother, who grew up in the shadows of Wat Siam in the old hallow that was Aloq Setaq in the 50s to (almost) Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC. – the seat of power of the free world!

The fire has burned over 15,000 acres. Porter Ranch fire is close to Shrek’s home but no danger as the the wind is blowing it away. However some Malaysians are affected by the Camp Pendleton fire north of San Diego. Shrek and some friends are keeping watch and offering assistance as requested including housing anyone needing a place to stay.

  45. Shrek, that’s real nice of people like you to keep watch and offer housing assistance, it will mean alot to those affected and will be much appreciated. You guys take care.

I have to once again put off my trip end of the month, can’t really go with this financial mess.
