Your Weekend of Songs by America’s Ladies of Song and Dame Shirley Bassey

Friends,

Last week we bade farewell to the young, beautiful and talented Whitney Houston and New York gave her a celebratory funeral with eulogies by Kevin Costner, friends and relatives. Gone tragically, she will long be remembered as the finest of her generation. Her funeral was carried to our part of the world live by CNN.

For this weekend’s entertainment we wish to play her popular song just to remember her again. At the same time, we thought it is appropriate to bring back on this blog the voices of some of America’s superb ladies of songs like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald (Mack the Knife), Dinah Washington (with rendition of What a Difference a Day Makes), Sarah Vaughan, jazz pianist and vocalist Shirley Horn and Etta James (singing her popular tune, At Last). To conclude, we thought Nancy Wilson and Dame Shirley should brighten up things with their sultry voices. Please have another good weekend.–Dr. Kamsiah and Din Merican

  2. My days have been brightened already. Thanks to the mistress of the house. No thanks to the man of the house who has been in a nasty mood busy deleting postings.

  3. Nothing beats the new kid on the block i.e. Barack Obama with his now famous rendition of Al Green’s “Let’s stay together” which has attracted more than 5 million hits !!

  4. I’m coming baby! I will turn you on like you want me to. But how do I turn you off? Maybe the bloghost can help?

Hurt so Bad…maybe Sammy Tean can help. He would probably ask you to see his new guru, Goolbatok Singh in Jalan Wat Siam, Bakaq Bata.

  5. my first encounter with nudity in the Netherlands. my friend and myself just arrived from malaysia still shivering. a big blonde walks into the one room flat, she says I’m the girlfriend of Thomas. she throws off her clothes into the sofa and steps into the shower with a glass door! and takes a shower. I did’nt know where to look

today I would’nt blink if a big blonde walks into a shower fully clothed and takes a shower! the germans will say ‘ andere länder, andere sitten!

I think bloghost is fed- up with certain M as I can see. Probably, best not to comment on any of M’s posting. To whom it may concern, this is a song for you. BTW you look happy in this photo.

  7. Hotel Samila ? That was built in the ’70s. Naah … last I stayed was at Holiday Villa. A stone’s throw from Pekan Rabu where Mahathir used to sell pisang goreng not too long ago.

  10. I hope he doesn’t delete this posting based on the three magic words “I love you” in French. What we need to do is to spread the love. Granted spread the love does not mean spread your legs.
