APSIA Conference 2017 Keynote Address by Singapore’s DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam at LKY School of Public Policy

Geo-Politics, Disruptive Social Developments and Technological Change: Has the Game Changed? Yes, that is easy part of the answer.  How we wish that life is simple and outcomes are predictable. But it is not. I  have been grappling a few questions. I asked myself questions like What has changed? How it has changed?  What is driving the change? What this change means to us in Asia.

China, North Korea, Islamic and Christian evangelism, terrorism and so on are making the headlines.I  also see increasing polarisation and the need for understanding and rebuilding trust. I expect our politicians to reconnect with people they are mandated to serve and  want leaders to lead with integrity, honesty and hope. Listen to DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam for some insights.–Din Merican

  1. Najib and UMNO integrity, honesty and hope? Well, false hope maybe to Felda Settlers, Hadi’s PAS and Sarawakians and Sabahan..

Truth is if we get enough competency, it would go far already. Every mega project by Najib is no hoper, will be bailed out even the Refinery bought by Aramco, will lose money and be sold cheaper than they bought it.

Playing with fire by dancing with Hadi’s PAS? It will eat us all alive when it goes horribly wrong. Najib will just deny responsibility like he is lying through his teeth now in Sabah.

Najib is creepy, slimy, getting caught lying even before he finishes his sentences. As Mahathir says, he IS STUPID and heading towards a cliff.

  2. This design is wicked! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!
