Racially motivated brawl at Kuala Lumpur’s Low Yat Plaza

July 13, 2015

COMMENT: This is not good sign. Thanks to UMNO politicians, the champions of Malay rights and supremacy, PEKIDA hooligans, who are jobless and frustrated, have decided to take the law into their own hands. Being associated and probably funded by UMNO, these individuals know that the Police will not punish them. I suspect the Prime Minister too  will be quite pleased if this incident  triggers more violence, and looting and harms ordinary citizens who do their shopping over the weekend. His politics of race works.

Let us hope that this is an isolated case and will not be repeated. We cannot afford incidents of this nature. At the time of writing, I have yet to read any statement emanating from the “hallowed” halls of the Prime Minister’s Office condemning those responsible for this incident.. –Din Merican.

Racially motivated brawl at Kuala Lumpur’s Low Yat Plaza

Authorities asked businesses at the Low Yat Plaza to close early tonight after about 200 people, some of them said to be from a Malay rights group PEKIDA, gathered outside the building to air their “dissatisfaction” over a brawl which occurred yesterday.

Low Yat Plaza violence

Business premises had been asked to be shuttered as early as 9pm tonight, with  the Police cordoning the area to prevent the group from trying to enter the building. It is understood that the group had congregated in front of the building about 6pm and the number slowly grew to almost 200 by 8.45pm, ignoring Police warnings against speculating on the case as it was still under investigation.

They were heard screaming derogatory and unsavoury remarks and appeared ready to charge into the premises when the management and authorities decided to close early.

A bystander captured this image showing people congregating outside the building. Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad has announced that the brawl last night was not racially motivated, but purely an act of revenge by a group of youths unhappy that one of their friends was arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.

One of them, believed to a the group’s representative, was heard telling the crowd that the gathering was about seeking justice. “We want justice and fairness, let the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) be aware of what happened yesterday,” he said.

The 7.50pm incident yesterday went viral on social networking sites with many jumping to the conclusion that it was racially motivated. The postings on social media also said that the man currently in police custody for alleged shoplifting had been conned when purchasing a mobile phone at the shop.

It was claimed that the man had snatched a unit from a salesman after the latter had refused to replace the mobile phone he bought earlier. Meanwhile, Police tonight said the crowd slowly dispersed around 10pm after being instructed to leave the area.

“They misunderstood what had happened after reading the news on social media. The Police have advised them and some accepted the explanation but there are a few who were still unhappy,” said a source. Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa who was at the scene, once again urged the public not to speculate on what had happened and allow Police to conduct their investigation on the case.

  1. “Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad has announced that the brawl last night was not racially motivated,…”

However the subsequent chain of events orchestrated by PEKIDA are. So, how about applying those sedition laws that these Malay type groups are so eager to defend in the name of protecting peace and stability. As KJ says, we must trust our public institutions, right ?

The fact that this Malay “rights” group is defending an alleged thief, says a lot about the relationship between UMNO and such groups.

    Wankers.

  2. Usual fascist techniques i.e. using “wedge issues” such as race, language and religious issues to stir up social tension and hopefully split opposition and reform movement supporters. The involvement of kleptocratic regime-linked thuggish groups such as Pekida is an obvious sign and dead giveaway.

Also to conveniently distract attention from serious ongoing financial scandals.

  3. theft is theft….big or small and in this case a handphone….but the baffling thing here again is that the perpetrator is being defended rather than punished….see the similarities between this ‘small’ incident vs the much larger 42b+ and growing ones?

shame on those yang beragama umno

this has nothing to do with race or religion….a crime is a crime is a crime

  4. Why has police not arrested these 2 individuals who clearly violated the law and has played a big role in instigating the riot? These 2 individuals are:

    1) Mohd Shuaib

Mohd Shuaib was seen clearly making an impassioned speech to a group of Malay youth outside a Starbucks near the Low Yat Plaza just before the beginning of the riot spewing out words like “ini Tanah Melayu…. anak Melayu yang di pukul orang Cina… kita mesti tuntut kadilalan… takkan Melayu di…..”

Mohd Shuaid is an UMNO leader, supposedly a lawyer and proudly proclaim himself to be an Egyptian-Malay….

    2) PapaGomo

This PapaGomo who was convicted of slandering Anwar Ibrahim and asked to pay RM850,000 have told the court he can pay only RM100 a month… and up to today still a free man to slander and cause trouble in the social media..

Last evening, just before the riot he circulated the picture of a badly injured bloody picture of a young Malay youth bandaged up… and asked all Malays to stand up and fight and not allow such a thing to happen to a Malay.

Unfortunately for PapaGomo, one hour later, a lady on Twitter responded and told him the picture is that of a robbery in Shah Alam the day before and is a friend of hers and asked PapaGomo to cease distributing the false photo. But the damage has been done. The post by PapaGomo has gone viral…

Both the materials, ie the video by Mohd Shuaib and PapaGomo were forwarded specifically to the IGP Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Abu Bakar and asked to take immediate action….

Let’s see if the police will continue to be passive since we know both the above are UMNO foot soldiers…

  5. So much for Malaysia as an international destination for shoppers.
Goods sold are pirated versions of the originals, produced in sweat shops, and carry illegally tacked on international brand names. (Why do you think the likes of Rosie shop everywhere else but.)
One little incident of price gouging or unfair business practices or alleged stealing, and the latent amok frenzy, usually lurking just below the surface, is unleashed.
Wonder what the future will be when the RM42 billion albatross, plummeting ringgit and all the other ills wrought on this nation by the UMNO and BN types finally come home to roost.
Well, the lower life’s may throw chairs and tables for which they will be quickly dealt with while the elite will have access to C4s and hired killers and continue merrily on their plundering ways.

  6. VERY FISHY! I cannot understand the behavior of certain groups of NGOs. Too many NGOs living with government aid for their survival. They should find decent jobs to earn some decent living rather than the leaders using these groups to battle for a mere few hundred ringgit item when billions of RM are questionable.

GOOD SENSE SHOULD PREVAIL for better Malaysia.

  7. I’ve just come to read about Low Yat Plaza where Hadi of PAS giving statement like as if he is representing Najib to stay calm. Great jokers of 21st century getting headlines in national main media.

  8. So yes, it was either a routine seller-buyer dispute gone terribly wrong or a regular snatch theft with the thief getting caught.

But why Pekida? Why the screams of “Allahuakbar” while assaulting the hapless victims? And why were the policemen on duty standing by looking helpless especially since the crowd had been steadily growing for more than two hours…time enough to call in reinforcements like they did against Hindraf?

In the aftermath, I would have thought that the regular defenders of Islam, like PAS, UMNO, Jakim and Isma would have come out outraged …castigating the thugs for ridiculing and abusing their faith during the assault soon after the breaking of fast …and doing so in the name of Allah. Wasn’t the religion of peace being mocked, stripped bare by the violence?

But there has been so such outrage, no outcry. Nothing. And I wonder why?

Politics? Or satisfaction that the thugs have done the right thing?

  9. It was just plain theft & simple hooliganism. Irresponsible users of social media made it look like a racial clash. The crowd mainly comprised curious onlookers.

  10. Moral of the story is never CHEAT your customer…but unfortunately these people always make fortune by cheating others…they just don’t care about halal or haram as prohibited in Islam to cheat others as long they make money..its in their blood to cheat in business, inherited from generation to the next…

  11. With raw evidence of violations by Malay “wankers” ) Mohd Shuaib & Papa Gomo what the hell is our IGP sitting on his fat arse doing F..K all.

  12. Wat do you expect guys.we have this guy who is Robbing us max. If boss can do so can we.we run off with a phone just like he had billions in his account. Monkey see monkey do.

  13. Far more clearer video……Seriously all these thugs should imprisoned for life. 12 rotans on buttock at least. better ask Lupus to just bite them

  14. The riot with the call of “Allah Akhbar” is a direct manifestation of political Islam. The ones who call out “Allah Akhbar” are genuinely felt they are oppressed and are genuinely felt they are the victims of oppressors, in a way not dissimilar to prophet Muhammad being oppressed in Mekah 1400 year ago. History is rehearsed here as well as all nations where Muslims are of majority.

The counter force of victim-hood is from those who call out “Sabar”, reflecting traditional Malay culture, sourced to Malay history of animism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Mekah Muhammad.

Quran states that oppression is worse than killing (2:191). For many Muslims, that means killing oppressors is justified. The above rioters, who only cause injury to others (the oppressors), are considered lenient. That is also the reason why TheSheikh lectures about the morality of not cheating when the rioters causes physical harm to “the oppressors”. That is also the reason why policemen are stymied upon hearing Allah Akhbar. In short, this phenomena is a direct result of political Islam, where the Constitution and civil laws are no longer considered supreme in front of Quranic lessons and morality.

  15. Monkey see monkey do.simple. No need so much comment. The pandas in the zoo are better.get rid of this head monkey.Malaysians wake up.no matter our backgrounds n race let’s take possession of our beloved Malaysia.we do not have any other choice.btw that Mamak Kutty we do not need him.he only wants his billions back to wreck this country further.najis is his pain in the behind only for that reason.

  16. “Moral of the story is never CHEAT your customer…but unfortunately these people always make fortune by cheating others…they just don’t care about halal or haram as prohibited in Islam to cheat others as long they make money..its in their blood to cheat in business, inherited from generation to the next…”

Except this was not a case of cheating the customer . This was a case of a customer stealing. All this was explained by the IGP who also disclosed that the thief’s accomplice was set free by a police personal without the approval of his superior, who then went on to cause this mess, with a little help from his friends. I honestly did not expect such professional, unambiguous behaviour from the PDRM.

Also, you are a moron and unfortunately one of the more visible examples of Islam and Muslims.

  17. “Moral of the story is never CHEAT your customer…but unfortunately these people always make fortune by cheating others…they just don’t care about halal or haram as prohibited in Islam to cheat others as long they make money..its in their blood to cheat in business, inherited from generation to the next…TheSheikh”

Whoah….that’s very funny TheSheikh. Very funny indeed. Why TheSheikh?

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 18 people have been arrested over two days in connection with the theft and subsequent riots near Low Yat Plaza.

City police chief Comm Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa (pic) said those arrested were aged between 16 and 40, including the man who was suspected of stealing a mobile phone at the shopping complex on Saturday.

“Those arrested were connected to four cases. “There are cases of theft and riot on Saturday and two cases of rioting with weapons on Sunday night,” he told a press conference on Monday.

He also refuted claims that the main suspect in the theft case was actually a victim of fraud, whereby he was sold a clone phone.

“It is also not true that the same suspect is a son of a policeman. “There are too many rumours and false news in social media.

This is one of the reason violence escalated last night and early this morning,” he said.

Comm Tajuddin confirmed that the main investigation was focused on theft of a mobile phone and it was not racially motivated.

“I hope all social media users can think rationally and not be influence by unverified news and information,” he said.

He also assured the public that police presence would be beefed up to maintain order near the Low Yat area.

“We have things under controlled. “People are safe to go to the area,” he said. Comm Tajuddin said police would be monitoring social media and did not rule out action against those who spread false news and incite hatred among the people

  19. Without the internet & social media being abused by irresponsible users this simple theft would not have developed into these incidents. Malaysians are in need of a NATIONAL CORRECTION – that includes us here.

  20. For a phone theft attracting so many people to incite riot, there is no basic respect for the law and authority by these criminals.

This is the result of decades of bad and corrupt Malay/Muslim political leadership and gross mismanagement.

There is a strong culture of entitlement and self proclaimed ‘ victims ‘ mentality by some blood thirsty and racist Malay/Muslim criminals…….if they don’t get what they are ‘ entitled ‘ to, they will incite hatred and violence at all cost.

The incident has sent a wrong message to some blood thirsty and racist Malay/Muslim criminals.

That gang of hooligans had started the riots without the internet and social media. It is the internet and social media that reported what happened.

So the “accomplice” who was set free and cried to his PEKIDA buddies, had no part to play in this ? Yes, social media turned the ant hill into a mountain but what this really demonstrates is that UMNO’s rent a thugs, are a menace to national security.
