Najib, UMNO Baru and 1MDB keep lying till the end of time

by Mariam

Ismail Sabri Yaakob warned that anyone who slanders Najib Abdul Razak and the government over 1MDB would be punished. This demonstrates two things: that Umno Baru promotes ministers to their level of incompetence, and that spending taxpayers’ money is easy, because it does not appear to belong to anyone in particular.

The irony is that it took former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, with his severely blemished past, to show that the only way UMNO Baru politicians assuage temptation (spending public funds) is by yielding.

Ismail, who is UMNO Baru supreme council member, reminded the rakyat to be wary of unsubstantiated sources such as Sarawak Report and The Edge, with their evil agendas. He said that those who discussed Najib’s involvement in the 1MDB scandal could be relying upon inaccurate information about the dealings between 1MDB and PetroSaudi.

Warning that stern action would be taken against Sarawak Report and The Edge for harming national interests, he said, “When the 1MDB issue erupted, many people believed in The Edge, which frequently reported biased news and was criticised for sabotaging the economy.”

Ismail, who is also the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister, pleaded with Malaysians to have faith in the government, and said, “We should trust the government and the minister’s explanation…”. He urged the rakyat to ignore information garnered from social media or from bloggers and refer instead to the authorities for verification.

Asking the authorities to verify information is an impossibility and shows how naïve Ismail is to think he can fool the rakyat. Najib has dodged answering questions about 1MDB and helped extend the 1MDB scandal.

Integrity flies out the window, where party politics are concerned. Everyone has a price and Najib knows that UMNO Baru divisional heads are demanding, and expensive. Would Ismail like to verify the allegations about UMNO Baru heads receiving substantial contracts and fiscal rewards for showing their loyalty to Najib?

Veteran UMNO Baru politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said, “These days UMNO Baru divisional leaders as well as parliamentary members earn up to RM50,000 a month, some even earn hundreds of thousands”.

He said that on March 8, over 160 UMNO Baru divisional leaders, including those who support Mahathir, had attended a meeting with Najib to show their allegiance to him.

‘No lah. Everything is above board!’

The typical response from the authorities, on whether this meeting took place, or that loyalty is accompanied by a price tag is this; “No! UMNO Baru politicians are clean and law-abiding. No one is above the law. We love Najib.”

The opposition MP for Petaling Jaya Utara, Tony Pua, claimed that the purchase of property by Mara in Melbourne is a covert attempt to save 1MDB. Do similar property purchases, by government-linked companies (GLCs), both in Malaysia and abroad, constitute a form of illegal kickback for corrupt officials?

We can predict the response; “No lah. Everything is above board! Mara is not corrupt.” Ahmad Maslan, the UMNO Baru Information Chief, announced that his party’s elections would be postponed till after the 14th general election (GE14), to strengthen the party and focus on the needs of the people. UMNO Baru secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor admitted that the postponement was because of an internal political crisis.

Critics claim otherwise and say that the delay is due to Najib needing more time to resolve the 1MDB crisis. Additionally, UMNO Baru has to resolve its in-fighting, and more importantly, Dr Mahathir’s relentless attacks on Najib. The authorities’ verification? “No. The postponement has nothing to do with 1MDB or Mahathir’s criticisms.”

PAS’ Pokok Sena MP, Mahfuz Omar wants Muslims to reject Najib’s ploy, to use RM20 million from Yayasan 1MDB to pay for the redevelopment of a mosque in Kampung Baru and turn it into a “national landmark”. Mahfuz accused Najib of using Muslims to “forgive 1MDB”, and that Najib wanted to “sanitise” 1MDB’s controversies by giving money to build mosques and helping to fund the pilgrimages of religious scholars to Mecca.

We can predict the response of the authorities to Mahfuz’s assertions, “No. It is not true that 1MDB’s funding for mosques is used to appeal to the Muslims. UMNO Baru is merely helping to protect Islam and promote the Malays.”

Ismail knows, and his knowledge is confirmed by the preceding examples, that trying to verify any facts with the authorities is a pointless exercise.

He may be interested to know that the rakyat’s list of queries is much longer and includes questions on who killed Altantuya Shaariibuu, the purchase of the Scorpene submarines, the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), the cargo manifest of MH370, the RM24 million ring, the jailing of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim on trumped-up charges, human trafficking, Taib Mahmud, Batang Kali, Memali, Kampung Medan, Mahathir and May 13.

UMNO Baru treats information, in one of the following ways – denial, pay-out, violence, threats of jail, lawsuits and silence. UMNO Baru politicians have spun so many webs of deceit, that they now believe their own lies. Naturally, they think that Najib and UMNO Baru can do no wrong.

  1. No lies in Selangor, P.Pinang and Kelantan ? What are they doing there ? CAT with “dead cat bounce ” – afterall its all about money, power crazy and corruption anyway. But this stories never been told, here. At least for the better.

Similarly to Umno. They never listen. They never bother . They just neglected the “roots”.

Najib policies towards the Malay – a curse. 1MDB makes it worst. Slandering is part of the game. Cheats and lies through media. Make it to pro- gomen or the opposition.

We are living the country without religion now. We live in hypocricy among the HIPPOS !

No more “AMANAH DAN TANGGUNG JAWAB ” – cancer to the whole
    system of societies.

  2. Constant lying is a symptom of a serious underlying
    “personality disorder”.

Another one is lack of feelings of guilt or remorse after doing
    things that harm others.

  3. It is really simple. If the PSI documents are doctored then just laid the actual document and the doctored document side by side for all to see. Of course the main issue is : Where has the money gone or like TDM said show us the money

  4. Technically speaking if documents are tampered evidence would be tendered of such, from the start. I don’t see the logic in UMNO’s assumptions but then again logic is anathema to this Regime.

  5. I feel sick of this government because of the way the leaders twist and turn of facts to play monkey with rakyat..

  6. Agreed that they are all feeding the raayat with lies. But then again , are’nt Mahathir , and his cronies like Zainuddin Maidin, Kadir Yasin , etc ., doing the same?

  7. Fiscal policy and other economic policy in 1Malaysia:

    1. More taxes — indirect taxes and hidden taxes (e.g. credit card ownership tax, passport fees) are preferred
    2. More subsidy reductions — petrol, electricity are the easiest to carry out
    3. Freeze hiring of civil servants (but not across the board, see comment below)
    4. Freeze budgets of government departments. Even better, carry out cuts in government budgets (especially for capital budgets, don’t touch the operating budgets for the moment). Remember to exempt particular arms of the civil service (see comment below)
    5. Liberate the resources locked up in EPF, government pension schemes etc. Try to do this by stealth.
    6. Borrow from our rich Arab and Middle Eastern friends.
    7. Rework the formula for calculating inflation in Malaysia. Put more price-controlled items into the formula.
    8. Have public relations staff and pro-regime economists scrutinise all official policy documents such as the Malaysian Plan for any material that may cast a negative light. Omit/downplay/rewrite accordingly.
    9. Come up with more government contracts and schemes that can be created and awarded to regime loyalists and supporters such as high political and high level civil service figures. Do not forget private sector business people linked to BN component parties such as the MCA and SUPP too. Make very sure that contracts are not given to people in the
    Mahathir camp.

Comments: 3 & 4 are not applicable to the police or security services or for the Ministry of (Dis)information
If 1 & 2 upset the population, step up the BR1M programme. There will be a bit of revenue loss, but the benefits of 1 & 2 will greatly exceed the costs of stepping up BR1M.

  8. My question is why are tjey protecting this trio especially this relatively unknown EX-assemblymen from rural Sabah when they can gain so much more credibility by cutting him loose and just get the machinery to do what is simply their proper job?? Why kill their national credibility especially with their core constituent with this innocous people out there?

Either the entire UMNO/BN including Najib are so devoid of the fundamentals of how to do real politics and leadership or there is something really sinister. But either way, it spells COMPLETE HOPELESSNESS OF UMNO/BN ever reforming and achieving any kind of real excellence..

Fiscal policy and other economic policy in 1Malaysia: ///

De jure, yes. De facto, no. I don’t think those running Malaysia has any consistent policy, and if they did, it is superseded by the need to get rich quick. The only consistent and persistent policy is the NEP in its various guises – NEP, NDP, NVP, and other schemes to enrich themselves.

  10. Phua Kai Lit,

Just to let everyone know a little well kept secret. In Singapore you only need to pay for your driver’s licence once and never again for life.

  11. Looks like the chicken and gang have taken their propaganda offensive to a new phase. They attack Kutty and the opposition by issuing a statement which will be repeated many times by the UMNO controlled media and their cyber mercenaries, like maae, nai and orang biasa. At the same time Twitter Khalid jumps into action, arresting those who criticize the regime.
But what I don’t understand is why the Thais are in it? Bernama has said whilstleblower Justo will be tried in The Land of Smiles, meaning this guy has becone a sitting ducj for chicken and his gang. Do the Thais get paid with a share of those ‘units’ held in BSI Singapore? Or has our chicken promised something? But then the Thais must know the UMNO government doesn’t have a habit of fulfilling its promises.

  12. The fact that the original truth copy of 1st SD as stated by PI Bala and released officially by Anwar stating that Najib knew the Mongolian girl and later introduced her to Baginda can be changed and completely overhauled by Najib’s so called legal adviser Cecil Abraham within hours, showed that what Mariam wrote is completely true to the core that Najib will keep on lying (cheating) if he wants to survive as PM and turn Msian into a third world country worse than you n I can imagine!!!!

  13. Whatever the stories told, true or false as claimed by both parties, personally put the proof
On the table for all to judge!
