History Repeats Itself in A Different Place

Najib and Marcos

God Help Malaysia. Be ready for difficult times ahead. Don’t take what The Governor, Bank Negara Malaysia says. She has become an apologist of the Najib Administration. In that role, she has destroyed the independence of our central bank. Tan Sri Zeti Aziz is disconnected from reality on the ground. That is her biggest problem.–Din Merican

  1. Imagine a Bank Governor saying “the banking system will not collapse…. 1MDB debt problem is not systemic… only a few banks will not be profitable if a default occurs….” – is she even aware of the impact of a default of a few billions will cause in the entire financial system? Omigosh!

And she did not even address the issues raised by The Sarawak Report about Bank Negara being kept out of the loop for the loan of USD500 million to PetroSaudi as instructed by the Finance Minister / PM….

You’re right Din…. she has become an apologist of the BN government especially of the PM Najib Tun Razak…. perhaps they all speak Queen’s English which we ordinary serfs do not understand….

I still hold her responsible for not taking action against the culprits in the expose of the RM10 million illegal transfer through a money changer to London by NS Mentri Besar…. don’t think Malaysians mudah lupa….

  2. i have worked in the Philippines.. and yes, the burden from previous mismanagement are there to feel and not just see…

but look no further.. this is March, 3 month after the flood in late december last year – but why am i getting feedback.. that the scenario is no different from February or Janaury? families still living in tents? sofa still lodged up on top of trees?.. what ever the reason maybe, they are execuses.. the fact of the matter, the bottom line is it is now march and the scenario is still the same.

our adminstrative entities have lost their soul, have forgotten their purposes and have utterly failed understadin and achieving their objective – it will be a challenging year

  3. “History Repeats Itself in A Different Place”

    Dato’,

    Yes indeed.

    A good comparison between Marcos/Imelda & Jibby/Mama

Ofcourse Imelda being an ex beauty queen has more class than Mama,,,

“Don’t take what The Governor, Bank Negara Malaysia says. She has become an apologist of the Najib Administration. In that role, she has destroyed the independence of our central bank. Tan Sri Zeti Aziz is disconnected from reality on the ground. That is her biggest problem.”

Yes indeed, she beholden to BIS, UN, World Bank & IMF to allow “DEBTs” to break the nation, which will then trigger the Global Licenced Along to come in…

Maybe she is hoping for her “Tunship” from Jibby on her “tutup satu mata” with his 1MDB & then she can be promoted to be part of UN proper closer to her Taiko Global Debt Masters (Rothschilds, Rockefella, Bilderbergers, CFR, C of R, etc)

    Just to share this…

“…In the Asian region, Dr. Zeti has been actively involved in strengthening regional cooperation and regional financial integration. She is a founding member of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Asian Consultative Group for Asia, and the first co-chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group for Asia. Dr. Zeti also participates extensively in international forums on the perspective of emerging economies.

Dr. Zeti was a member of the United Nations General Assembly Commission of Experts on Reform of the International Monetary and Financial System in 2009, a high-level task force established to examine reforms to the global financial system. Just compare the above with the “FB messages” between Jho Low & his Wharton Business School sidekick friend…

“It was when Seet was still based at Wynton Capital that he sent and received numerous emails regarding the 1MDB PetroSaudi Joint Venture from this address.

With Paris Hilton at yet another match

He now describes himself as a Vice President of Jho Low’s current company Jynwel Capital, based in Hong Kong.

Seet was copied into the correspondence respecting the JV deal between PetroSaudi and 1MDB in September 2009.

That correspondence minutely reveals Jho Low’s driving involvement in every aspect of the deal.

It was also Seet who joined Jho Low and a fellow Wynton employee, lawyer Tiffany Heah (she also worked for UBG Bank) at their initial crucial meeting with PetroSaudi’s Patrick Mahony in New York, at which Mahony agreed that the firm could “act as a front” for their business activities…

And it was Seet who performed the role as the signatory for the firm Good Star, into which the USD$700,000,000.00 “loan” cum “premium” was paid on the conclusion of that joint venture deal.

On the day that the money finally transferred into the Good Star RBS Coutts Zurich account, Sept 30th, Seet went on Facebook:

    Something big happen that day?…

Li Lin Seet: I feel the earth move under my feet…

A week later Li Lin Seet was embarking on the party lifestyle that became the hallmark of Jho Low and his crowd of business hangers on over the coming years

    – a lifestyle that was so expensive and extravagant that it attracted attention across the world.

Cristal is the most expensive champagne you can buy – this is what Seet messaged from Las Vegas:

Li Lin Seet: In Vegas bring a jacket cos it’s raining Crystal! Hahaha

A week later and the conspirators were drenched in Cristal in Las Vegas….

Li Lin Seet was also the signatory of the company Panama Investment Manager, which did a deal with PetroSaudi ‘front man’ Tarek Obaid to manage the funds of the PetroSaudi ‘subsidiary’ in the Seychelles…

Delightfully for the young men involved, there was clearly plenty of money left over in the system to fund a very expensive life-style for Seet and some new found friends on the celebrity circuit…

Again on Facebook, Li Lin Seet gave an insight into the way he has learnt to do business:

Li Lin Seet: “The PAP manifesto reminds me…Most important of all, we always get away with it by gaming the system. Hahahahaha

  4. There is another similarity.

The Philippines exports human resources on a vast scale to other countries
i.e. unskilled (maids) as well as skilled (nurses). Note that some of the
Filipinos working as nurses in foreign countries are actually doctors who can make more money working as nurses overseas than as doctors at home.

Malaysia exports skilled workers on an increasing scale.

  5. Malaysia’s economic development model under the 1PM and UMNO Baru-BN :

    1. Labour — export skilled labour, import unskilled labour (Indonesians, Bangladeshis etc)
    2. Capital — invest overseas in high end property, park huge sums in tax havens such as Cayman Islands, foreigners relocate their most polluting industries in Malaysia e.g. Lynas rare earth extraction plant
    3. Land/natural resources — plans to build dams, dams and more dams in Sarawak that will flood vast areas, eco-destruction through uncontrolled timber extraction and conversion of forests into large scale oil palm plantations

Inflation — going to implement GST even as the economy is slowing down,
removing all subsidies for petrol but prices at the pump do not
    actually reflect true market prices

  6. Yes, Din, We should continue to sit at our laptops and cyber-whine about this. And hope that come the next GE, there will be a change of government. Well, the next GE is over 2 years away. There is no guarantee that with the massive fraud, intimidation and bribery that happen during the GE, the rakyat’s wish will come true. Also, in 2 years time, the amount stolen by these people would have ballooned so high that our descendants for the next 5 generations would have to slave to pay for the debt.

How do we change things in the meantime? I still stand by my earlier comment that the immediate future of the country lies with the multitude of right-thinking moderate Malays / Muslims, who have been sitting on the sideline watching this daylight robbery being perpetrated by the small group of people in leadership position. These crooks are playing the royalty, race and religion cards to mask their on-going robbery. The moderate Malays / Muslims must come to the forefront and make themselves heard. They have the whole-hearted support of the non-Muslims to make this country a better place.

And you would recalled one of the comments to your previous posts by someone called “THE” ….

“Let me paraphrase Martin Niemoller for the Malaysian context:

First they came for the Chinese, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Chinese.

Then they came for the Indians, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not an Indian.

Then they came for the Homosexuals, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Homosexual.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

  7. Is Parkinson’s disease a crime or an oversight? Which is One way of saying that all is not well and dexterity has been ‘compromised’.

Jibros is actually frightened of Mdm. BN, which is good – in a sense – cuz her deputies tak boleh pakai langsung; and will be much more sycophantic.
So just like the UMNOb leadership – replacements are wrought with even worse scenarios.

Has MIER have a replacement candidate?

  8. When you have Mahathir making the same point as the opposition against you, you are deluded if you believe that you will survive.. The smart ones listen to the opposition, the dumb ones listen to Mahathir, only the selfish and malicious listen to you – you have got to be pretty far gone in character if you believe that they are they are the majority or control them in ANY society..

  9. Yes.
    Just perceptions of Najib.

Perception 1: Very incompetent Finance Minister
Perception 2: Under-performing Prime Minister, with
economic chaos and maybe even social chaos on the horizon
Perception 3: Out of control, free-spending wife
Perception 4: Out of touch with reality
Perception 5: Losing support, even within UMNO itself
Perception 6: It is time to “undur”, even Dr Mahathir says so

  10. /// Imagine a Bank Governor saying “the banking system will not collapse…. 1MDB debt problem is not systemic… only a few banks will not be profitable if a default occurs….” – is she even aware of the impact of a default of a few billions will cause in the entire financial system? Omigosh! ///

Yes, as a Bank Governor, I am astonished that she forgot about fractional reserve banking (or more charitably, she was told to forget) and public confidence in the banking system.

  11. “…still stand by my earlier comment that the immediate future of the country lies with the multitude of right-thinking moderate Malays / Muslims, who have been sitting on the sideline watching this daylight robbery being perpetrated by the small group of people in leadership position. ”

Whereas I am of the opinion that the future of the country will ultimately be determined by the brainwashed disenfranchised UMNO sub class coming home to roost and the religiously addled operatives spawned by decades of coddling by UMNO through PAS.

People tend to forget that “right thinking moderate Malays” were defined by UMNO and that Malay members of PKR are in reality rejects or anomalies of the UMNO system, who more often than not revert to their programming. I don’t even what to touch the bi polar disorder of PAS. And the DAP ……

Now that the Original Scoundrel (Mahathir) has moved from unerklärten Krieg to calling for a police probe on 1MDB and dissing Rosmah et all , you can bet that the factions in UMNO are going all out to shore up Malay support and this time the OS will throw his support behind the lunatic fringe of UMNO, which means that those “moderate” urban Malays, already a shrinking bunch, will be even more scarce.

  12. Not only Bank Negara has been bastardized but all institutions including the Judiciary, MACC, EC, AG Chambers, PDRM, ROS, Security Commission, MCMC, EPF, Pension Fund, Tabung Haji, and even the religious departments and clerics. The wheel is complete. Now the downfall begins.
The biggest irony – this is all done by the government that defends and protects race, religion and royalty. LOL.

  13. /// Chandran Sukumaran March 13, 2015 at 9:24 am
Zeti, is she a woman of substance? ///

Yes, lots of substance. Lots of wherewithal. And substantial amounts too.

  14. Quote:- ““the banking system will not collapse…. 1MDB debt problem is not systemic… only a few banks will not be profitable if a default occurs….”

That’s like saying, don’t worry, it’s only that the first 4 floors of the building are burning and in danger of collapsing, floors 5 to 10 which are not burning are perfectly safe.

  15. What do you mean. On Friday 13th Our Governor of Central Bank was awarded the Wharton Dean’s Medal by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
    Citation:
-Tremendous economic impact in the region
    -Good governance
-Trailblazer for internationalisation of Islamic Finance
    -Incredible policy maker.
