Raja Petra: ‘Rosmah at murder scene’

June 20, 2008

“It’s mindboggling!” – that’s how Raja Petra Kamarudin’s statutory declaration alleging that Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife was at the murder scene of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu was described today.

An aide to Najib also said they were aware of this latest claim made by Raja Petra, who also runs the Malaysia Today website.

“At the moment, we are looking into it. This is a very mind-boggling statutory declaration,” said the aide when contacted. The latest allegation hurled at Rosmah Mansor was made by well-known blogger Raja Petra via a statutory declaration signed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday.

The aide however refused to comment if any action could be taken against Raja Petra.

rosmah mansor najib wife 261004Najib and Rosmah (left) have repeatedly denied they are linked to the killing of Altantuya, describing the widely-known allegations was nothing more than ‘slander and concocted stories’.

In his latest bombshell, Raja Petra accused Rosmah as among three individuals who were present when Altantuya was murdered on Oct 19, 2006.

“I have been reliably informed that between about 10pm on October 19, 2006 and early hours of the following day, the night Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered, three other people were also present at the scene of crime,” he said, according to his two-page statutory declaration.

He named the two other individuals as one acting colonel Aziz Buyong, who is described as ‘a C4 expert’ and the latter’s wife, known only as Norhayati, who is also said to be Rosmah’s aide de camp.

‘A crime not to reveal’

Altantuya’s body is alleged to have been blown up with C4 explosives at a secondary forest in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam. The murder trial is currently ongoing at the Shah Alam High Court.

“My informer states that Aziz was the person who placed the C4 on various parts of Altantuya’s body witnessed by Rosmah and Norhayati,” Raja Petra claimed in the document.

“I make this statutory declaration because I have been reliably informed about the involvement of these three people who have thus far not been implicated in the murder nor called as witnesses by the prosecution in the ongoing trial at the Shah Alam High Court.

“I also make this statutory declaration because I am aware that it is a crime not to reveal evidence that may help the police in its investigation of the crime,” read the document, which was first posted on the bigdogdotcom blog run by another blogger.

umno selangor najib muhyiddin event anti pak lah banners 160408 05Raja Petra, contacted by Malaysiakini, has confirmed the content of the document.

He further alleged that he has also been ‘reliably informed’ that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi knows of Najib’s (right) wife alleged involvement.

“[…] Abdullah has received a written report from military intelligence confirming what I have revealed and this report was subsequently handed over to his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin for safekeeping,” he said.

Apart from Abdullah and Khairy, Raja Petra claimed “one of the (Malay) Rulers” has also been briefed about the matter and is fully aware of the allegation.

He said he has agreed not to reveal their names other than mention that the prime minister and his son-in-law have been given a copy of the military intelligence’s report.

Police inaction over report

“The purpose of this statutory declaration is to urge all these parties who have been duly informed and have knowledge of this matter to come forward to reveal the truth so that the police are able to conduct a proper and thorough investigation into the murder of Altantuya.

“And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declaration Act, 1960,” he said in his declaration.

altantuya razak baginda mongolian murder case 030907In the phone interview, Raja Petra explained why he did not lodge a police report on the latest allegation which could lead to a fresh police probe on the Altantuya (left) murder.

The blogger said since there was no action over a police report he had lodged in a separate case in 2001 when he was allegedly beaten up by a high-ranking policeman, “I am not bothered in making a police report”.

When asked why the document was posted elsewhere instead of his own Malaysia Today site, he retorted: “Why must it be published on my site?”

Raja Petra was called in for police questioning early last month over an article titled ‘Let’s send the Altantuya murderers to hell’ in which he implicated Najib and Rosmah in the high-profile murder case.

A close aide to Najib, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and two police special operations force personnel have been charged with the murder of the Mongolian national.

All three have pleaded not guilty in the ongoing trial. They face the death sentence should they be found guilty.

  1. I don’t think RPK is stupid enough to simply test the waters in that way. Something is afoot. Remember also that he talked about one Sultan being briefed on the crime. Is that his cousin and his informer? The same Sultan was scolded by Rosmah, so may be he got angry and spilled the beans to Raja. Holy Shit.
Abdul, it is not the Sultan of Selangor. There are 8 others. Keep guessing. The RPK move is a brilliant one, coming on the back of the SAPP(Sabah) saga. UMNO-BN Government’s credibility is destroyed.—Din Merican.

  2. BN’s position is more immediately affected by the latest explosive allegation by Raja Petra’s Statutory Declaration on Altantuya Shaariibuu murder implicating the very top! You should read it. It promises to be the biggest issue with national and international political implications.

RPK made the allegation by statutory declaration in the Magistrate Court, Jalan Duta, KL (June 18, 2008 ) because he thought that such a declaration would be more convincing of the truth, accuracy and inherent reliability of facts declared in it.

This is because of the not unreasonable assumption that no person making a Statutory Declaration would knowingly make statements that he knew false for fear of being implicated in a criminal offence of making false oath via the statutory declaration.—Undergrad in http://www.limkitsiang.com

  3. anybody sleeping over these allegations ????
ghenjis khan, the conquerer of the Western Steppes, time for you to act!! Are you sleeping like Badawi? All involved are shivering in their pants. How long more do you think this Badawi government can cover-up?—Din Merican

The biggest news to emerge from this is that the military has crossed swords with the govt and police, and has put the police on guard that they are under military watch! There is no way this information would have leaked unless the Agong (ruler) had given the consent to the military to release it!

The entire police investigating team and the PP’s office will now have to be investigated! Both are in deep shit!
Anon, at the end of the day, it is the military that will save us from the UMNO-BN political leaders who are working with our Police to suppress and threaten the rakyat. The military is under the command of the Agong who is the commander-in-chief, not Badawi and his monyets.Thank God, we have a true professional military force.—Din Merican

  5. Din, when are you coming to Penang? Looking forward to receive you here with a big welcome and fulfilling the ‘Asian Renaissance’ discourse.
DJ Chin, soon I hope. Next time, I will make sure that I make time for our discourse. Gather some smart young Malaysians with ideals to join in and I will be happy to talk to them. We must build a movement for transformational change.

Mediocrity and the people associated with it must be made to go so that we can truly change Malaysia. We need the ooomph which the young can provide.—Din Merican

  6. Wonder what’s Rosmah interest is in Altantuya and why she wants Altantuya blown to pieces.Perhaps to avoid DNA that may indicate Altantuya is pregnant and the DNA matches that of Mr Rosmah.

PDRM needs to enlist CSI team from another country as this is over PDRM’s capability. Just like Pakistan having the Brits investigate the murder of Benazir.
Shrek, if the public is not indifferent, they can pressure the leadership to conduct a full investigation. Our MPs must raise this RPK SD since the mainstream media has been gagged. Some people think that Najib should divorce Rosmah. But that to me is wishful thinking. Rosmah has a hold on the DPM and he cannot shake her loose. He will go down with her if a full investigation confirms that she was at the scene of the C4 explosion which blew Altantuya’s body in smithereens. How brutal can any human being be than these people identified in RPK’s SD.—Din Merican

  7. I am very sure RPK’s source has also made a similar SD or has declared it before a royal household.

It is very unlikely RPK would make such an SD without sufficient backing. He is not only sticking out his nose but also placing his neck on the guillotine. Only a man of God will do such a thing at the risk of his own life.

The iman of Islam Hadhari and his SIL will have to reply to the allegations in the SD. This whole episode makes me sick to my stomach. How on earth can the entire police force and the PM cover up a MURDER!? It does not matter if she is a local for foreigner. She is still a child of God. Yes, the whole lot of them deserve to burn in hell!!
    Mr Smith,
See what power and ambition can do. That is why we need a system of Rule of Law where the Judiciary is independent, institutions of governance are staffed by people with integrity and high ethical values, and where we have a free and independent media with a vibrant civil society as our fifth estate.—Din Merican

  8. Followers of Islam Hadhari better think twice if they want to continue being suckers on the wrong track when the Imam gets into deep shit!

  9. I am sure RPK have done his necessary homework and thinking before he decided on the Statutory Declaration. I am also sure he is quite prepared for the implication. If Yong Teik Lee now is under investigation by the ACA because of SAPP’s action, would it be safe to assume that Badawi will just keep quiet on this SD ? What the SD implied is very earth shattering. What Rosmah did is unthinkable but what Badawi did not do is a disaster.

The bottom line is that we have a Prime Minister who will cover up a murder for his political gains. So this is what Mickey Mouse Najib’s loyalty is all about. Interesting developments on the Imam of Islam Hadhari.

It is also a wonder how the military guys can get involved to the extent mentioned in the SD. Although The King is the Commander in Chief, I suppose Ministers of Defense and Prime Ministers can get things their way too. During Mahathir’s time, he did it in his typical way, by making his brother-in-law, The Cry General, the Head of the Military. Somehow or other in The Corridors of Power in this country, the in- laws seem to be playing key roles. Maybe it iss easy to turn them into outlaws if they misbehave. This control of the military seems to have overflown into Badawi’s time. Traditions die hard in the military regime, I am told.

The silence of the main stream media on this issue is deafening. I guess they are waiting for the CNNs and the Al Jazeeras to take the lead. There is always a calm before the storm. Enjoy the weekend folks, Monday may be too eventful to some of us.

  10. The Agong has little influence on the Armed Forces other than just being a figurehead purely for ceremonial reasons. The PM and the Defence Minister are the power brokers.

When Tunku was the PM his nephew, Gen Tunku Osman Jiwa, was the Chief. During Tun Hussein’s time it was Gen Ibrahim, a fellow Johorean and were cadets together in Deradun, the Indian Military Academy. Mahathir had his brother-in-law, Gen “Freddy” Hashim.

However, the present Chief, Gen Abdul Aziz Zainal has no connection to Badawi other than just being a “obedient servant”. The top posts have always been the reserve of the Askar Melayu so you can trust them not to revolt. Period.
The Agong is just a symbol; I guess that I was wrong to think that the Agong has a big influence over the military. Mahathir saw to it that the military is under the complete control of the Executive Branch with the appointment of Freddy Hashim. My good friend, General Sani was bypassed and also was another friend, General Mahmood Sulaiman, with whom I worked closely during the period of Indonesian Confrontation when I was at Wisma Putra, Thanks, Tok Cik for this clarification.—Din Merican

  11. Malaysians, a C4 just hit us!

The Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Mohd Najib Abdul Razak cannot remain silent any longer now that Raja Petra has made a Statutory Declaration to implicate them, Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor aka Dotty and PM’s son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin.

This is serious serious matter that concern leaders of the country. This may be slanderous and if allegations are untrue, immediate actions must be taken or seen to be taken to clear their names.

When marbles were deliberately spilled yesterday on Raja Petra’s Statutory Declaration, news were splashed all over the internet and in blogs, but Malaysia’s mainstream media’s extreme silence is most deafening and worrisome.

The allegation involved bizzare murder of a foreigner, a Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu whose body was blown to bits using C4 explosive on her her immigration records be tampered with and erased.

The murder is suspect to involve VVIP/s in high office powerful enough to order the issuance of C4 explosives that comes under strict control of the Ministry of Defence.

Altantuya was alleged would expose the VVIP/s and his/their accomplices for their corrupt activities. She knew too much that could cause destruction, shame and/or perhaps political demise of those involved.

  12. It has been 2 days now, why has all Malaysian tv stations and mainstream newspapers keeping so quiet about RPK’s SD? Is there a gag order that it must not be reported? On whose order?

  13. Mr. Smith, no need to be upset. This is Malaysia. The ‘Semua Boleh Culture !!!’ has been inherited from the corrupt leaders bermula dari era Mahathir hingga ke Dollah. Sudah menular kapada semua peringkat rakyat. Lihat sahaja akan perwatakan2 kebanyakan rakyat hari ini. Minda mereka sudah rosak. Anything goes !!!. Civic mindedness is at the lowest level or zero.

  14. “RPK made the allegation by statutory declaration in the Magistrate Court, Jalan Duta, KL (June 18, 2008 ) because he thought that such a declaration would be more convincing of the truth, accuracy and inherent reliability of facts declared in it.” Dinobeano

Statutory Declaration and Affidavits are heresay evidence. RPK could have made his statement and quoted by the mainstream media and it would carry the same weight in court – which is zilch. It is not even admissible as evidence in court in a criminal trial – not without RPK in the witness stand. It is then his testimony that is the evidence and not the SD which is heresay.

Since RPK has no direct knowledge of the events, his testimony would be hearsay and excluded as being in contravention of the rule against hearsay.

We are back to square one! Sorry.

  15. “The Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Mohd Najib Abdul Razak cannot remain silent any longer now that Raja Petra has made a Statutory Declaration to implicate them, Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor aka Dotty and PM’s son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin.” Jong

Agreed. But it would have the same effect had RPK made the same statement in the media.

Their silence in the face of such public accusations is damaging to their credibility. But then they must have been advised by legal counsel to remain silent.

Silence is not admission or guilt. Guilty mind? Perhaps.

  16. For the others who are not participants in the crime, and not even innocent bystanders is there a legal duty to report what was told to them – verbally or in writing? Nope.

And because it is heresay, it is not admissible as evidence. So why bother to report or hand over documents to the authorities when they are heresay evidence and could not be used in court? Of course they could be asked why they are not doing that.

  17. The truth or not, I think the sd’s achieved something- throw us off our chairs.. and maybe influence the outcome of the case too. This will definitely impact on UMNO’s leadership handover. Who’s next in line after Najib? In terms of capability, anyone?

Another point I want to mention is …. which is nothing new actually…how can any single minister/ individual have sole access to these military/ police resources. There shows there are gaps in govt policy & procedures in the area of national safety and security. Crack/ task forces now can simply execute orders in a covert manner ala Tom Clancy and Frederick Forsyth novels.

Najib may be ok after all this ends, but he might have to find a new wife.

  18. It takes a lot of planning to purchase military gear; months on end, years. And the damn thing is not even in the yard when you sign the papers.

Then you haggle on the price. Then you pore on yards of yards of drawings or computer programs. Even then the stupid thing cannot bomb Pulau Batu! 😦

They hack the programming so you can’t bomb the shityard.

How long would that take? 3, 6, 9 years?

All your bases are belong to us! 😉

  19. satu pendedahan yang dahsyat. keberanian petra membuat akuan bersumpah pastinya mempunyai bukti jelas terhadap dakwaannya.

Namun mampukah ianya disiasat dengan adil oleh pihak berwajib?

  20. We are in unchartered territory as to whether a SD can be accepted from a person who is not witness to the crime. I think the Court would use the principle of the strength of the testimony of Raja Petra to weigh on this especially if it can corroborated by a witness to the crime or if the written report from the Military Intelligence is produced. Whatever it is, we will be witnessing some fireworks in the days ahead but I hope Raja Petra & his family safety are well taken care off. My prayers!

  21. I believe RPK has the trump card and I also believe he is highly intelligent and knows what he is doing. As I had said earlier, this looks more like a good game of “poker” except that this one is not all about bluff but more so of timing and lots of guts!

RPK definitely has all of us running in circles for 2 days now, still trying to figure out what’s behind his SD which as you have said holds no water, perhaps for strategem and psychological reasons.

    Categories: Anwar and Isu Semasa

Sebaik membaca perakuan sumpah Raja Petra dua hari lalu saya segera menghubungi teman peguam memohon penjelasan.

RE: Raja Petra said he had been “reliably informed” that the Prime Minister “has received a written report from military intelligence confirming what I have revealed and this report was subsequently handed over to his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin for safekeeping”.
ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT – Whoever, knowing that an offense has been committed, receives, relieves, comforts or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent his apprehension, trial or punishment, is an accessory after the fact; one who knowing a felony to have been committed by another, receives, relieves, comforts, or assists the felon in order to hinder the felon’s apprehension, trial, or punishment. U.S.C. 18
In Malaysia, people cover up for the Prime Minister. The AG protects him. What tragedy? —Din Merican

  24. It is interesting that the writer should quote U.S. law.

Here’ s what ‘accessory after the fact’ means:

The requirements of such an accessory are

    1. A completed felony must have been completed;
    2. The accessory must have known of the commission of the felony;
    3. The accessory must have given aid to the felon personally for the purpose of hindering the felon’s apprehension, conviction, or punishment.

    Acts to establish crime:

Any of the following acts are sufficient to establish liability as an accessory after the fact:

    1. concealing the felon;
    2. aiding him in making his escape;
    3. destroying or altering evidence; or
    4. giving false information in order to divert the police away from the felon.

Mere failure to report a felony or to arrest is not sufficient.

    Above is the law.

    Now the facts:

Some joker made a report to his superior. His superior vets the report and passes it on and finally it reaches the hand of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister looks at it, trusting no one else, gives it to his son-in-law for safe keeping.

    Q. Is there an accessory after the fact here?
    A. No.

Make it a big fat NO.

  25. If I see Din running away with my neigbor’s ayam in the middle of the night (this happened often in Alor Setaq in the 50s. There wasn’t much to steal those days that you could sell without being caught. One ayam looks just like the other), and I did not report does that make me an accessory after the fact? No.

Another neighbor went one step further. He took a snap shot using his infra red camera and gave it to me. I took a look and hid it away hoping to one day blackmail Din when he becomes Special Advisor to the first Pakatan Prime Minister. Does that make me an accessory after the fact?

    Certainly not!

  26. Dear Din ,

I am really concerned and worry about the safety of RPK . Our PDRM can never , never be trusted and some untoward ” incidents ” might happen to our honourable RPK . Please do have plan to look into or monitor RPK movements-24 hrs , never leave him along . Any slight ” disturbances ” call up people power to demand justices .

Is about time , we use PEOPLE POWER to bring down those corrupted , abused of power elected representatives .

  27. Salak, ….hmmm like Ann Coulter? can you imagine how uninteresting the world will be if they are, more like man?

  28. Well gentlemen, I personally sceptical on the exposure. Toward the end of this world anything can happend. Truth may not true and false may also accepted as truth. I hope RPK is not in the latter category. I just hope, I dont know because
nothing is imposible just like mission imposible
    is posibble.

  29. Now that RPK has opened up the can of worms, action must be taken to see that justice is done. Those barbarians who did the barbaric act and who practices barbarism should be sent to neraka (hell of fire!).
No wonder “SHE” looks fat and rounded, if she is really the one involved…gemok, bulat dan penuh dengan dosa..Masyallah!!!!

  30. Din,

Wish to point out Jen Tan Sri Sani was not bypassed. He became the Chief of Armed Forces Staff (CAFS) (now known as Chief of Defence Force) under Tun Hussein Onn.

Jen Tun Ibrahim as CAFS under Tun Razak.

  31. Jong,

    Ann Coulter?

Just glanced at her column. I might like her!

I thought Her Highness might convince His Highness to do the hatchet job himself!

    Dunno! I don’t do contracts.

Could I have done her in softly with a song?! 😉
