Press Release: NEW VK LINGAM Revelation

My friends,

No sooner did the RCI decide not to call Anwar Ibrahim’s testimony on the VK Lingam video clip on grounds the information he posseses is irrelevant, Dato Seri Anwar has released another segment of the Lingam tape recording. In this segment the predecessor to Ahmed Fairuz and the former Chairman of the Royal Commission of the Police Force, Dzaiddin Abdullah, is clearly identified as having compromised his integrity by accepting bribes from at least VK Lingam and Vincent Tan.

There should be no handwringing on the authenticity of this segment as such has already been verified by numerous experts.

It takes a man of great leadership and vision to understand that this Royal Commission if left to its own devices will do its level best to sweep this widening conspiracy under the rug and further destroy the credibility of the Judiciary, which is was supposed to restore.

Why then has the RCI has chosen to ignore the PKR de facto leader who brought these evidence to light on September 20, 2007. The politics and the power of certain vested interests now on full display to the public makes me sick. The public outcry at this point should be deafening. Never has the level of decadence in the judiciary been so high and so obvious. Talk about credibility and independence of this RCI!! It is going to be a SHAM.

The hearings will be completed by next Wednesday and unless something miraculous happens, we can say that Anwar will not get his day at the hearings. Let us hope some other credible witness(es) can testify.

— FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE —

January 28, 2008

Today I am releasing a third segment of the video tape recording of lawyer VK Lingam that was given to me on Friday, January 25th. This clip adduces additional evidence that the conspiracy currently being investigated by the Royal Commission extends beyond the attempt to fix the appointment of Ahmed Fairuz to the Federal Court. This new 5-minute segment directly implicates former Chief Justice Dzaiddin Abdullah who has allegedly received bribes from VK Lingam and Vincent Tan so that he cannot attack those two individuals publicly. Dzaiddin Abdullah was the Chief Justice of Malaysia from December 2000 until 2003. It was quoted as: “And we have given him the most expensive gift. Don’t ask about it lah. I have given him and Vincent Tan has given him.”

While the creation of the Royal Commission gave the Malaysian public some hope that the credibility and integrity of the Judiciary might be restored, we are unimpressed with the proceedings and the procedural decisions made by the Commissioners thus far. The Royal Commission must operate with the highest level of integrity and transparency so as not to be seen as feeding the rot which has tarnished the Malaysian Courts. I submit this new piece of evidence to the public, and extend my full cooperation to the Commission’s ongoing proceedings.

  1. My friends,

I am told this morning (January 28,2008) that the RCI decided not to call Anwar Ibrahim to give his testimony on the VK Lingam video clip matter. Why the RCI has chosen to ignore the PKR de facto leader who made the existence of this VCD of a serious case of judical appointment and court decision fixing known to the public on September 19, 2007 is now very clear to me. It has all to do with politics, and the need to protect certain people.

The hearings will be completed by next Wednesday and unless something miraculous happens, we can say that Anwar will not get his day at the hearings. Let us hope some other credible witness(es) can testify.

  2. its not surprisign fro two main reasons. first, the web of deception and corruption has eaten into the core of the judiciary. if lingam falls, too many powerful cronies will be exposed. there’s too much at stake. by the way, is this the reason for lingam’s cocky behaviour?
second, the chair is not exactly the right person to lead this enquiry given his history. given his past and also his pesent positions and linkages, I have my grave doubts about his impartiality. and perception is everything in this inquiry into the insiduous affair.

  3. I’ve one question. If all fails which will not be discounted, what’s the Rakyat’s next course of action to get to the bottom of this scandal?

Looks like restless Malaysians need to send another hundreds of thousands into the streets of Kuala Lumpur once again to make our voices heard, to appeal to the King – the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to sack the whole lot of Commissioners headed by Haidar. We the Rakyats have rights to the truth!

    Jong,

The answer is very simple. If you think the rule of law is the foundation of democracy, then you vote this government out of office. If you are sentimental and fall into their trap of promises, promises and more promises, you are at liberty to retain them in power. I think that is what Malaysians will do and after that, they will bitch. How come when an Indian lawyer and a Chinese gambling tycoon get together they screw up the lives of a former PM, the judges and others who cross their path? Someone asked me “why are the Malays so blur?” I asked him to contact Malay supremacists,Hishamuddin Tun Hussein and Khairy Jamaluddin, and glocal Malay Panglima al thantuya, Najib, for an anwer.. at the start, they try to portray some semblence of impartiality as part of the exercise to restore some credibility. but whne the heat in the kitchen gets too hot, thats when they started to get private with the inquiry. sure, why try to play with fire by getting anwar and lingam’s brother to testify though only one out of 3 tried his best to be impartial ( the other two is mute and deaf coz there is no records of them uttering an intelligent question). thats RCI malaysian style for you, folks.

  5. “Why are the Malays so blur?”

    – Not blur. It could be just their trusting nature and the well ‘protected’ comfortable lifestyle. As for the Chinese and Indians, it’s survival of the fittest. Their self-reliance and prudent upbringing necessitates the ‘otak’ to be on overdrive all the time. 😀

  6. You want to be globally successful, take the NEP crutches away and the Malays will be just like the Indians and Chinese.

Insist on elite cushy life with NEP, then remain ‘terminally ill’ dependent on UMNO-handouts forever. The choice is yours Melayus!

  7. “Insist on elite cushy life with NEP, then remain ‘terminally ill’ dependent on UMNO-handouts forever. The choice is yours Melayus!” – Guffaw

    – Of course not that the Chinese and Indian Malaysians mind really, and at the end of the day they will use more “over-drive” and still come out winners! …smart asses!

  8. “Why then has the RCI chosen to ignore the PKR de facto leader who brought these evidence to light on September 20, 2007.”

I can understand your disgust over the decision to ignore the PKR de facto leader. But you know, whatever your towkay says will be received as coming from someone who has an ax much in need of grinding. Besides, he will also look hypocritical as the damage to the judiciary had surely begun when he was in power. I think he is doing a far better job remaining on the fringe and supplying nuggets like this latest video. And I pray he has a lot more ammunition in his arsenal or the years of free time he had to think would have been a waste.

Din, you fear the further destruction of the credibility of the judiciary. I think the destruction is already so bad that it couldn’t get worse. People have doubts over the integrity of the RCI panel members, made up mostly of former judges. And their decision to have hearings in camera further fuels the cover up theory. I’m skeptical about the need for a cover up because the person likely to be ‘damaged’, if it comes to that and as if it matters, is Mahathir and not Badawi.

Meanwhile, Joe Public must be wondering what this hearing will lead to. All we hear are fairly simple questions asked of the witnesses who have a choice of equally simple answers: yes, no, cannot remember or not sure. We even have the cocky main player saying that it sounds like him, look like him but can’t say for sure it is him until his own experts can verify the tape and there is no original. Imagine if this is a valid defense for someone caught on camera committing a crime.

When will the experts be asked to testify to put an end to this nonsense? Where are the phone logs of calls made? Where are the records of the travel agencies to clarify who booked what tickets? Thus far, those asking questions do not sound clever or learned. I pity their real clients in court. No wonder some lawyers had to buy expensive gifts for the judges. Din, I think you can do a better job than any of these guys. So I’d hope PKR can sound out these issues to put some pressure on the participants of the ongoing wayang.

On the PKR front, I hope your party will do its utmost to attract the non-Malay vote. No other party has the ghost of a chance to govern this country as a multi-racial party. No party can succeed without the backing of Malay voters. And the Chinese and Indians must be pragmatic and let the Malays have the majority but then please let everyone have a fair chance of coming out of the bottle whenever it is shaken. The Malays should not have everything. Be the majority but be fairer in the distribution of the goodies.

Can the PKR deliver such a government? If yes, say it clearly, loudly and convincingly. Otherwise, the word association game will go like this: PAS = Malays, DAP=Chinese and PKR=Malays. And we’ll have BN for the next 5 years.
