Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech at the Democratic Party Convention, 2012

Thanks to New Yorker Bean, here is Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech at the Democratic Party Convention.

Obama wants America to move forward, and not get stuck in the past. In my view, he deserves a second term but since I am not a voter in America, I must leave it to the wisdom of Americans to choose between him and Mitt Romney.

Obama is good for America and because he is committed to building partnerships and coalitions around the world and diplomacy as his first option in the quest for global peace, Obama is good for us too in the Asia-Pacific.

Wait a Minute, here is Joe Biden. “Barack never backs down, that is what makes him thick”. America is back on track.–Din Merican

  1. The choice facing Americans is clear. Sarah Palin says she could see Russia from her window but Obama’s challenger for the Oval Office thinks he knows Russia because he has seen Rocky Four !!

  2. “For Mitt Romney an overseas trip is when you trip all over yourself overseas. It was not a goodwill mission but a blooper reel” — John Kerry

  3. The Republican message is simple according to Bill Clinton. “We (Republicans) created the mess. You didn’t clear the mess fast enough. So you put us back in.”

  4. This is the Congresswoman who took a bullet to her head in an attempted assassination after the shooter saw her in Sarah Palin’s gunsights (crosshairs) on TV – and to think that the bitch (Sarah Palin) who said she could see Russia from her window in Alaska never even called her to apologize!

There wasn’t a dry eye after this.

  5. To me the BEST speech of the 2012 DMC is the one by Bill Clinton, given on the second day, a speech to nominate Barack Obama

It was voted by political analysts as the best speech Bill Clinton had given since he became President. Some say that if Obama is tripped over the line to win the Presidency, it will be Bill Clinton’s speech which was targeted at the Undecided.

    It was vintage Bill Clinton.

Simply brilliant. A good example to study how to plan and deliver a public speaking assignment. He even went off the prepared text and still delivered brilliantly

Here it is, the full 49 minutes of the speech on Youtube:

” I want to nominate a man who’s cool on the outside, but who burns for America on the inside…… And by the way, after last night, I want a man who has a good sense to marry Michelle Obama”

  6. here he is known as Wendehals Romney. one who changes his principles according to changing political situation. political opportunists, like those politicians from GDR who sang a different tune after the (Mauerfall) fall of the Berlin Wall.
US americans: we are talking about people who, not long ago, voted in GWB twice!
    a nation with unlimited possibilities

  7. Guys & gals,
Didn’t I exhort Nong Nong time ago that we must prevent turning into another jimmy carter? It’s the stupidity of the Americans by voting in Ronald Reagan that started the mess America is in. I pun takdak faham, one nuclear trained engineer don wan must elect one actor. Stupid izzit.
Just in yingeland, if jim Callaghan still keep his job. I wouldn’t have to pass any tuition fee. I was confided this while slogging in 20 hours a week a janitor in the university admin compound. The international university dean told me so. Those were days when I asked him persistently if any grants given to help commonwealth students such as I stranded because that loudmouth mamaktir. Didnt I say that back in secondary school, the whole classroom cheered when we heard of the news that apanama got heart attack

  8. the whole classroom cheered when we heard of the news that apanama got heart attack- looes74

That is NOT nice….not nice at all. He may be a bad PM or a bad politician, that does not mean you should have evil and bad feelings about him at the personal level. Unless you know him up close and very personal, such ill-feelings to the man is bad,. It is sinful to even have thoughts such as that.

When a person is faced with life and death situation, you never wish that person to get worse. That is uncivilised and barbaric.

I agree. You can like a man and disagree with him. I wish Tun Dr. Mahathir continued good health and happiness. I urge to stop playing race politics. At the same time, I know that it is hard to do because he cannot be dissuaded. Looes74 can go over the top with his comments. He deserves to be criticised, Thanks, Frank.–Din Merican

  9. I feel some of us are making the same mistake as was made when Obama made his first Presidential Address… almost perfectly chosen language with unmatched eloquence of delivery.

But it adds to talk and only talk… not policy. For the US to get out of its mess the two main parties have to start engaging each other … yet we continue to witness a continuation of the tiresome blame game… and it goes on and on.

Can the current political system save the US? I doubt it… which is why I think that the slogan “.. General Motors is alive…” was silly. GM and many of its big time industry partners would all be dead were it not for the “too big to fail” mantra that the government hastily pulled out of its capitalist bag. Is it not strange how many times socialism has been employed to save the follies of the US unregulated free markets? Start with the Great Depression and see what I mean…

Whatever the US decides to do, recovery will be piecemeal and very lengthy. Which is why Dr. Ron Paul would have been the best choice by far for President. As a first step the country ought to listen to his Foreign Policy views… the rest will fall in place.

And don’t forget Isa’s essential message folks… SOCIALISM WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH.

  10. Ever since the crisis hit the United States, leading to the emergence of the 1% vs 99% movement, the cry of people has been to reclaim their country from the vultures.

And yet, did either candidate touch on this most crucial of issues? Or say how they plan to confront the problem? Which is why neither of them is fit to lead the country.

Presidents can create any number of jobs they want but if the financial/lobby vultures are not neutralised, crisis like the current one will keep cropping up.
