Lee Chong Wei wins Silver Medal for Malaysia at 2012 London Olympics

China’s Lin Dan defeated Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia 15-21, 21-10 and 21-19 to win the men’s badminton singles gold medal at the London Games on Sunday.
It was an exciting finals, which saw the Malaysian leading in the first set. The final set was a cliff hanger; it could have gone either way. In my view, it was Lin Dan’s destiny to win. Lin Dan reaffirmed his position as the greatest badminton champion of his generation.
With the victory, Lin Dan became the first man to defend an Olympic badminton singles title. China remains the dominant badminton nation.
Congratulations to Dato Lee Chong Wei. You gave it your best for us. Well done for a fine display of sportsmanship. –Din Merican

Indeed we must search for a new Olympic champion in the sport. Perhaps the time has come for LCW to retire. He gave everything to badminton, won many championships, became the numero uno in the world, only to be denied that elusive gold medal by yet another badminton ‘fighter’ in the sport…At age 30 we can’t expect much more from the tiring body and mind. BAM shouldn’t sit on their laurels and must begin planning for the Rio Olympic in 2014 and bloody well cut the house infighting for the sake of this sport in Malaysia..!!

LCW gave his best, that is GOLD to me and that is what I told my children who were watching the finals with me! To us he won even though it wasn’t gold because he gave his best for the country!

Indeed, the thought which crossed my mind was why there was not sign seen of her consoling Chong Wei. I hope it was not a matter of her flying to London to look good especially if he won gold, and then when Chong Wei only won silver, not wanting to be associated with him.
