Pakatan Rakyat and UMNO-BN, Any Difference ?

FMT LETTER: From Wong Mun Chee, via e-mail

I wrote Part 1 more than a year ago, but nothing has changed, has it? No, I have nothing personal against the supreme chameleon Anwar Ibrahim. I’m neither against politics nor politicians but I get fed up when they continue to suffocate us with their politics without any real agenda for the community.

You see, you don’t need to dance with wolves and entice them if what you claim to do is the truth for the benefit of the community.

The opposition PAS with its Islamic stance, DAP, these days with their Anglophile agenda and with PKR; you don’t even know whether they are coming or going forms frustration amongst people like me who would like a change but are in delusion because politicians, whether it is UMNO and its mandores or PR and their mandores, without a concern for the communities’ grievances.

Why do you need mandores if politicians can actually get down to do what they are elected for rather than weighting their options on how they can stay in power or achieve their lifelong dreams through their mandores.

Sorry to disappoint you, I don’t have any gossip about Anwar Ibrahim like in Part 1. I can gossip all I want and tell you tales but how are things going to change unless and until we can stop justifying for ourselves in our own comfort without actually participating for the community.

Sure we blog, comment, tweet and FB, but how has this created a change for the masses. Sure you think that just because you do all the above, it has made a difference. But really!

Then why don’t we just continue doing this and hope that that PutraJaya shall be delivered in PR’s hand in GE13. We should not question how it gets delivered even if it is deemed unethical because we can compromise principles for the deliverance.

Just to recap on the ‘ilham’ (inspiration) that I had then in Part 1: “The crux of this letter is, politicians are never our saviours. We the people need to be savvy enough to understand and comprehend with apprehension the true objectives of a politician.

This can only materialise if they are steadfast in their principle from day one, not swaying and swinging for political needs no matter how you see it. A good politician and its true meaning is to serve the society without the typical grandeur that we observe with Anwar as and when it fits the agenda.

This can only happen if your individual action is in place to check and balance them as I attempted to do with Anwar Ibrahim. Whether I have my doubts about Anwar is secondary. It is your call as a society to flush out artificial politicians.”

What more can I say than the favourite past time, been bought over, sold his/her soul, another UMNO stooge, etc. but never the issue pertaining to what is the truth and reality that seems to be the abyss for most of us for our own personal agenda, like our favourite son Anwar Ibrahim.

  1. Hello Mr. Wong,

Why just pick on Anwar and PKR. I am sure you can write many more volumes on UMNO-BN leaders, unless your agenda is to angkat Bodeh Najib. Try not to fool us with your pen.Try some real intelligent stuff.

  2. Is there a difference?

Just consider the difference in performance between
states ruled by Pakatan Rakyat and states ruled by BN !

  3. Apa tu: “This can only materialise if they are steadfast in their principle from day one, not swaying and swinging for political needs no matter how you see it.”?

You mean people and principles don’t change? Then this flur’s guaranteed not to suffer brain damage, no matter the circumstances. But I think he’s already suffering from apolexy. Principles change with time and environment. The only thing constant is gravity and Planck constants. But even that is questionable. Politicians are fallible, but are essential to any society. After them, the second oldest profession: prostitution.

Whatever it is change is a constant, and better with a penyapu baru than a penjahat-penyamun-lanun. I’ll take my chances with PR, but i guess this clown is gonna stay home and twiddle his remaining toes.

  4. This is definitely an article to blemish Anwar and Pakatan. Just look at the first word to describe Anwar – Supreme Chamelion – so damn obvious!

  5. If you can’t see the difference between BN and Pakatan, then you deserve the BN government. The difference is like night and day, light and darkness, clean and open government and a government clouded in cronyism and cloaked in secrecy.
Just like what Phua Lai Kit say, look at the difference between BN and PK ruled states. If you still can’t see the difference I suggest you go and get your eyesight checked with Dr. Justbendabit Singh, Doctor of Opthomalogy and Lobotomy.

  6. Mr Wong , who pays you – MCA or UMNO? You can’t even write properly let alone express yourself .

And what is worse is the fact that you can’t even see the difference between the crooked, corrupt and thieving ways of UMNO Barisan and the accomplishments of Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan.

Another half month bonus for civil servants – is that how you go about winning support for your favoured coalition , Mr Wong? Maybe you should join the prostitutes in Petaling Street.

  7. Mr.Wong…your stories are full with angers and manipulates your mindset…and you are low graded writers who just air out frustrations without indepth studies and with poor political backgrounds….
Cant you see that PR already proven they are as capable to or better than BN who already rule for 1/2 decades…and PR did made some changes just in 5 yrs,….so pse do some research first before you writes….

  8. Like most people who tweet, FB or blog know that their votes will make a difference. Everyone except Mr Wong apparently. Whatever their are doing on their blogs or tweet are just to enlighten people on the problems the country is facing.

So if PR is just like BN, what does Mr Wong propose us to do? Just stick to BN? Or don’t vote at all? I have a better idea why don’t you vote them out if they are not doing a good enough job.

  9. “Sure we blog, comment, tweet and FB, but how has this created a change for the masses. Sure you think that just because you do all the above, it has made a difference. But really!

Then why don’t we just continue doing this and hope that that PutraJaya shall be delivered in PR’s hand in GE13. We should not question how it gets delivered even if it is deemed unethical because we can compromise principles for the deliverance.”

I don’t know about you but most PR supporters know that they need to vote if they want their party to form the government. In fact, most people do. The reason people supported BERSIH was because they wanted a fairer, cleaner and more transparent election. You think most people are unethical? Would try to win the election by hook or crook? Perhaps you should direct your last sentence to Najib. I respect difference of opinion but this is ludicrous. The mark of a BN lackey is that he is still hung up to Anwar Ibrahim.

  10. another syiok sendiri article, the vile nature of this ‘letter’ is not hard to discern. please write the next part just before you kick the bucket la, maybe then you’d have something logical to tell us.

Wong, did you seriously believe that just because you wrote a letter (Part 1) a year ago malaysians would have changed by now (including Anwar)? what did you have for breakfast?
and suddenly you’ve become an advocate for LGBT. if Anwar had said the opposite then he would have become anti-islam and traitor? what he said is exactly what the pope or other religious people say, there is a difference between saying and doing – is the Pope a chameleon?

A good politician and its true meaning is to serve the society without the typical grandeur that we observe with NAJIB and his sidekicks, as and when it fits the agenda. –Wong!
I think you got mixed up with the names.

  11. The difference boils down to good governance. PR is a strong advocate of transparent, competent and accountable government. UMNO-BN is the antithesis, the embodiment of all that corrupt and decadent in our country.

Mr. Wong expresses a different view, I respect him because he has the courage to speak in mind without the benefit of anonymity. He is not sure if Anwar is genuine about this governance thing since Anwar is ex-UMNO and for many years, he was under the tutelage of Mahathir, the man who is responsible for the state of our country today.

From my experience as his associate, I know Anwar is difficult to read. This is because he is an astute, nimble and visionary politician (and this is the reason why he has survived the rough and tumble of Malaysian politics for so long). But I can say with confidence that he is serious about good governance. On the score you can check his record.

Anwar has been unwavering and starkly consistent when comes to clean, competent and accountable government. On other issues, he is tactical, but overall he is clear about what he wants for Malaysia.

Like the rest of us, he wants to make Malaysia great again. He wants our country to be respected for our competitiveness in global markets, and for our enlightened foreign policy. Anwar deserves a chance to be Prime Minister.–Din Merican

  12. To answer Wong’s question, all I need to do is to place two names beside each other:
    Najib – DSAI
    Moo – TGNA
    CSL – LKS
    CHUA Jnr – Tony Pua
    Sharizat – Nurul
    Toyo – TS Khaled
    Taib – Bian
I think the pong and the aura cannot be more stark even to the blind, deaf and mute.

  13. I vote for Lim Kit Siang to be Prime Minister. But that is not going to happen. Unlike Anwar Ibrahim he has no excess baggage. He travels light.

  14. Wong should be grateful that his diatribe made its way into this esteemed blog. It is more fitting this article appear in The NST or The Star. None are so blind as those who do not want to see. This Wong guy refuses to see. Pity him.
By the way, who the hell is this guy?

Sam01, I try to present a diversity of views. It is up to you guys to make your rebuttals. You can’t blame people for having different views of Anwar Ibrahim. Some of them don’t even know him and create stories about him. I had a chance to be with him and my other PKR friends for 2 years. Anwar is very serious about good governance, justice, democracy and freedom.–Din Merican

  15. Anwar deserves a chance to be Prime Minister.–Din Merican
    Amen to that.
Let’s not be soothsayers. No one can say what Anwar will be when he is PM. Give him a chance. BN had its for 54 years.

  16. I’d vote for LGE as the PM. He seems like a competent person. It’s high time we elect competent people to the post regardless of their race and religious persuasion. This Wong guy can just stay at home since he can’t see any difference between PR and BN.

  17. Only Monkey can’t see the difference between the UMNO and PKR.

PKR has a proven good record in Penang and Selangor.
    ——————————————————–

    ——————————————————–
Kalau PR mengambil alih Negara, kebaikan seperti :

    1) Harga minyak turun.

  18. The only party that may not rule with the BN is DAP. All the other parties had ties with or were part of BN at one time or other. So do not rule out PKR or PAS cutting a deal with BN, who knows, with the leader of one of them being named as Prime Minister. The stakes are too high for an alternative.

  19. Din,
It would be great if you can add in this blogger. Oooh! It’s goona be fun. Please tell me if this joker is actually Kee Thuan Chye……Hahahaha…..Enjoy!

  20. Western governments take action against Third World kleptocrats:

    http://www.nortonrose.com/knowledge/publications/68116/western-governments-seek-to-counter-kleptocracy

Western governments seek to counter kleptocracy
    April 2012

Kleptocracy has played a major role in stifling progress in many parts of the world, particularly in Africa, where corrupt leaders have siphoned public revenues into their personal accounts to fund extravagant lifestyles to the detriment of their communities. Since 2006, when the Bush administration called for action, the international community has made the countering of kleptocracy, or high-level corruption, a major priority. Developments in recent weeks have suggested that this increased vigour is leading to concerted enforcement efforts.

On 11 April 2012, it was reported that French authorities had approved an investigator’s request to issue an international arrest warrant for the son of Equatorial Guinea’s President. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, widely known as “Teodorin”, is the country’s agriculture minister, earning a salary of $6,799 per month, yet is said to have spent over $100 million on personal expenses between 2001 and 2011.

The investigation has seen French authorities raid an Equatorial Guinea-owned Paris building worth €150 million, confiscating artworks, fine wines and a fleet of 16 luxury cars worth several million dollars. Transparency International, the anti-corruption NGO, filed the original legal complaint against Teodorin. Equatorial Guinea is Africa’s third-biggest oil producing country yet most of its population lives in poverty.

Separately, US authorities have sought to seize assets worth $71 million, including a collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia and a $30 million Malibu home. The move is seen as a major step forward in the US’s own fight against kleptocracy, with Human Rights Watch senior researcher Lisa Misol commenting “this is the first time US authorities have gone after the assets of a foreign government official, let alone one viewed as next in line to the throne”.

Increasingly, countries are seizing the assets of foreign officials suspected of corruption. Canada has frozen the assets of Zine al-Abadine Ben Ali, the former Tunisian leader deposed during the Arab Spring, using a new law making it easier for authorities confiscate property suspected of being criminally obtained.

Meanwhile, on 17 April a British court sentenced James Ibori, a former governor of the oil rich Delta state in Nigeria, to 13 years for the embezzlement of £50 million of public money. Pleading guilty to 10 charges of fraud and money laundering, Ibori was told by Judge Anthony Pitts at the Southwark Crown Court hearing “during those two terms (as governor) you turned yourself into a multi-millionaire through corruption”. Judge Pitts also speculated that the true amount illegally accrued by Ibori could be in excess of £200 million.

Ibori used his stolen wealth to fund an extravagant lifestyle in the UK, which included a country mansion in South-West England, a £2.2 million home in London’s Hampstead, a fleet of luxury cars and foreign properties worth £6.9 million. He had faced corruption charges in Nigeria but successfully obtained the transfer of his court case from the northern city of Kaduna to Delta State capital Asaba, where the judge (also his cousin) swiftly dismissed the 170 charges against him.

These moves suggest that national governments are prepared to apply their own criminal laws to prosecute the foreign officials that move or establish links with the country by using wealth generated from corruption in their home countries. The prosecution of Ibori may force corrupt officials to reconsider how they spend their illicit wealth, while the development of the Teodorin case will cast a light on the practicalities of such moves against Africa’s ruling families.

  21. ” ….. he has the courage to speak his mind without the benefit of anonymity “. – Din
My .. my .. is this a big deal?.. concatenation

For Din it is. Even those so-called journalist in NST, The Star and Utusan do the same thing. …. with by-lines and mock shots to boot.
    _______________
I don’t expect that you and I can agree every time. That is the strength of this blog. I can criticised, and be criticised. I hope Wong will respond to all the comments on his article.–Din Merican

  22. Doesn’t really matter if PAS and PKR cut a deal with BN, IFF that brings justice, freedom, democracy, good governance, fight against corruption etc to bring Malaysia back to where she was before s/o Kutty took over the premiership.

  23. “No, I have nothing personal against the supreme chameleon Anwar Ibrahim.” Wong
This man contradicts himself all in one breath. He says,
“I have nothing personal..” and then refers to Anwar as “supreme chameleon”.
Come on Wong. If you have nothing personal you don’t call people names.

  24. Hmmm… Dato, that was not a typo, I meant to type “IFF”, which means “if and only if”

  25. Dan, With all due respect I do not think that it would be likely because in the politics of power sharing the stronger culture will always consume the weaker culture. That is what happened in Zimbabwe and Kenya. The opposition parties that were force to cut a deal by the OAU with the ruling class have now become like the people they were trying to replace.

  26. the difference between the UMNO and PKR.?

PKR consists of disgruntled former UMNO members
UMNO consists of potential disgruntled UMNO members.

    Which means NO DIFFERENCE.

  27. — the real difference is UMNO and PAS.

And what cause the difference?/….. ISLAM.

UMNO-Islam as interpreted by JAWI and the National Fatwa Council is massively DIFFERENT from PAS-Islam as interpreted by the PAS Suria and their team of ulemas.

The difference between UMNO-Islam and PAS-Islam is much more significant when compared to the difference between Shiite-Islam and Sunni-Islam.

As for PKR? PKR is more of Celup-Islam (neither here nor there). On hudud, gay issues, PKR has one leg here and the other leg there.

  28. You can write a book about the difference between PAS and UMNO based on Islam. Too many examples.

    Take one:
UMNO-Islam says it is against the teachings of the Prophet if a muslim joins in Bersih rally. PAS-Islam says it is OK and quotes from the Quran.

UMNO-Islam says Christians cannot use the word Allah because it is a monopoly of UMNO-Islam. PAS-Islam says it is OK.

Why the difference: UMNO members use very expensive short-sighted glasses when they read the Quran, whereas PAS members use prescription-based long-sighted glasses. Except one problem, PAS tend to get injured on short-sighted issues.

  29. What does this Wong Mun Chee know. huh?? He can’t even differentiate between an Indian and a Hindu. To him MIC are all Hindus.

Leave him alone. He just wants to hear his own voice or gloat over his writings. Let him stir in his own juice.

    Next item please.

  30. In real world politics the difference is very little..
BN wants the component partners to assist them to stay afloat right NOW, which nobody believes can be done!

The opposition on the other hand needs to join forces and help each other to win the Main Battle! It is said its a marriage of convenience only, we shall see. Becos BN has had that for 55 years until they start breaking up and heading towards a eventual divorce!

PR – After the battle and if they win – will they be like BN?
    ONLY Time will tell!
If Pakatan Rakyat succeeds then we may see the true colours of the threesome!
If each has his own agenda to pursue, there will be tooth aches in the near future!
If PR stays true to all its promises, then this country will have a new dawn!

Since we have been proven beyond a shadow of doubt that the BN no longer can administer and govern this country properly, we better not force them to continue
for another term of 5 years.

Since PR has managed to proof to us that they can turn things around in the 5 states they took over, that itself proves they have capable leadership in their ranks!

Remember Wilayah P or KL has only 1 seat with BN, just becos the state is so funny we do not have a real state GOVT per say!

Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Penang, Perak & WP! ( Actually 6 states )
Perak was stolen & it does not count! My guess is that it will fall back into the rightful hands!

N9 and the Hang Tuah state is as good as doomed!

Pahang is on shaky grounds – Lynas issue….the people do not trust the answers and justifications! Simply becos if Aussies were confident it has no adverse effects why ship it HERE? ONLY small & little brains who wants to tell BIG FAT LIES & try to CHEAT the RAKYAT is running this state – it has failed 20 times over! Just look at the financial management of the state….all the way & while NEGATIVE!

Perlis – nothing much to shout about too tiny!
Terengganu – may see a surprise tsunami or earthquake happening!
JOHOR – the most moronic state!

East Malaysia – a big surprise in STORE!

    We shall see!

  31. We see too clearly from a neutral & democratic New Zealand. BN/UMNO will LOSE BIG. For those low lives & criminals, God’ s nemesis will prevail. Look at Gaddafi , then Assad, when Syrians wanted fair & free elections, Assad said there were foreign terrorists wanting to topple the Gov’t… now he kills them. Gaddafi and Assad weren’t even democratically elected! Just like your PM – handed down from Daddy! KL has been sucking Sarawak & Sabah’s blood. What development? Even watching from afar, we have reached the brink now: We call the most horrific curse on those criminals. The people’s power, the people’s day will come.

  32. Even in far-away, neutral New Zealand we are boiling mad, your BN Gov’t is outrageously crooked and dishonest, & for how many decades now! GOSH! Horrific plunder and robbery, skinning & fleecing the whole country. eg Taib in Sarawak, holding 3 supreme portfolios of Chief Minstr, Finance Minstr & Planning & Resources Minister, plundering for 31 yrs. Your PM pretends nothing’s there…..now he revenges on Rafizi for the NFC cows, even after 3 murders: Ross Boyert (Taib’s former US aide), Manser (native & rainforest activist) & Altantuyaa (Scorpene $$ claimant), & after BN lost over RM300billion in 55 yrs. Yr PM flies a new RM200m plane & Taib rides Rolls Royce. In NZ our PM flies 2nd Class; here Taito P Field, an MP was jailed for a few years for corruption (using Thai immigrants to paint his houses). How long would yr Dr MM, Najib, Taib all the BN/UMNO/PBB cronies, MACC, Police chiefs last in a democratic country like NZ, Aus, UK, US or Canada before going to jail? 1 mth?

  33. We NZ are neutral (ranked among the highest in non-corruption index & democracy) and we see through your PM who has zero sincerity or integrity. Faced with problem he bribes and buys his way through. Some say his rat eyes and dog moustache are more akin to a dishonest used car salesman than a statesman. In Sibu, S’wak, he declared along the line of …You help me I help you. BN wins then $xmillion to the Chinese school… Like Dr MM they go for twin towers, submarines, mega projects for maximum kickbacks, but never bother building the essentials like the trunk road for Sarawak or Sabah. He condones colossal corruption (Taib, Musa, Shahrizat…) and pretend they don’t exist. His men tortured Teoh B H to death on his wedding day over a few thousand $. He is a big disgrace to your Nation. Why haven’t you impeached him for treason – undermining & destroying the Country?
