Malaysiakini Hit By Yet Another CyberAttack
The Malaysiakini website was once again attacked starting from 2.45pm yesterday. Although the cyberattack continued, the site was fully restored at 11.30pm.
It appeared that this was not an isolated attack against Malaysiakini – simultaneous attacks were launch against a number of other websites in the country. At press time, most these websites, including those of Opposition parties DAP, PAS and PKR remain unavailable.
In a Twitter message, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang said: “DDoS attacks on DAP, PAS, PKR websites since afternoon. UMNO-/BN cyber saboteurs rehearsing even more serious DDoS in 13GE.”
The attack against Malaysiakini was the most sophisticated to date. “It used a complex attack pattern, and not easily detectable,” said CEO Premesh Chandran.
International syndicates
The attack – commonly known as a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) -
managed to overwhelm the Malaysiakini servers. It involves using a large number of computers to flood Malaysiakini’s servers with fake traffic, causing a traffic jam which denies access to legitimate users.
The attack is normally carried out by international syndicates paid to disrupt targeted websites. However, Malaysiakini’s technology team was able to bring the site back up after battling the debilitating attack for eight hours.
Over the past year, Malaysiakini has been hit with a number cyberattacks, most notably during the BERSIH 2.0 and 3.0 rallies as well as the Sarawak state election.–http://www.malaysiakini.com

while you express hope to the current PM during his infancy of his leadership (i admire your optimism) i must admit i had already made the assumption for the worse (i knew Paklah was better even though i do not rate him as a leaders for he can not lead at all – express no leadership qualities or skill). I rate Muhdin more than najib, atleast the people selected to be around him are smarter.
So here we are now, Mr PM did not change the formation of the cabinet when it clear he had to do it (culture & communication? got higher & lower education ministry? etc.. what gives?). Formation need to chage, after all it was Mr.PM who shouted ‘transformasi”. Then u gotta change personalities… now thats is a no-no, gotta keep everyone happy…
Now, we have to wait (for the umpteen time!!) for Mr.PM to decide the GE date (hey, finish & confirm the list of winnable candidate yet?)…
Here is what riles me up, u want detail informations regarding malaysia companies, you go to Bloomberg for example but you dont try too much looking into the local sites… you wanna know which counters are syariah compliance… you go to star website for example and you dont go to the local official websites… see the trend (see the mentality)… you can not counter issues being raised or brought up bu M’kini and the ilk, u DDOS them?? see the trend and see the mentality…

The philosophy of “All is fair in love or war” should not be applied when it comes to freedom of expression. Opinions & ideas should be countered by opposing opinions & ideas not by jamming & attacking websites as this can be interpreted as an act of desparation by whoever perpetuates it.

Just ask yourself what happened in April 2009…. those with a degree of clairvoyance or clairsentience will vouch for the fact that all the dark djinns, toyols and hantus are gathered in Putrajaya for the Final Battle. Remember the epic battle for Minas Tirith in Lord of the Rings? The political situation in Malaysia is pretty much akin to that scenario. Umno’s Ring of Unholy Power must be destroyed!

Pray tell, why would calling israeli cyber expert be of any assistance? It is a DDOS attack and there are many option & solution, i belive they are well advised ( there will be more in the future). As i mentioned, it is a mentality thingy and wont work – as a matter effect, it will bring the opposite result.

Well, better start thinking real hard… The Felda IPO, ‘the dirian runtuh’ thingy… Well, them cornerstone got a 6 month holding requirement… When the times comes, there will be repositioning activity which may not favor Najib …. But then again, call it too early and Pakatan wont’ sing along… Oh, well u reap what u sow….
