Merry Xmas and a Happy 2012 : We say it with songs

Dr Kamsiah and I wish our Christian friends and holiday makers around the world a Merry Christmas and a great 2012. May there peace and goodwill among people of all nations in 2012.

We also send our sincere greetings to all fellow Malaysians. To those who are returning to their hometowns, please drive carefully. Let us forget our differences, and be positive  and upbeat about the Year of the Dragon.

2012 is an important year for our country with  General Elections No.13 looming. Political temperatures may rise as both sides of our political divide try to win our votes. But let us remember that for the stability and security, we must not let our emotions run riot. We must look at issues raised by those who seek to represent us in the next Parliament  in a balanced and mature manner and then decide what is best for our country.

Our politics are by nature adversarial, but that is what our democracy–imperfect as it is– is about. It is a battle of ideas, programmes, and personalities. We are now a mature society and can decide what is best in our collective interest. May God Bless our country with peace and harmony. At the same time, while seek God’s Blessings, we must work hard to ensure that we remain united as One People and One Nation.

Let the party begin. After all, it is the eve of Christmas. May the songs we play for you bring back fond memories and good cheer for this festive season.–Dr. Kamsiah and Din Merican

  1. All this lembu talk that our Dato has allowed to jam the space here has exhausted me to the point that I’m now considering on taking the trip home to celebrate the holidays on kereta lembu. Maybe make a pit stop at Batang Berjuntai to get some milk.

  2. Kereta lembu, ditarek oleh lembu Perkasa. Satu nama Brahim dan lagi satu namanya Hasan , keduaduanya anak Ali
    Kereta kembu
Wah Bean very fitting song for the holidays except cannot go to Mandi Safar

  3. Go ask Helen Vellu. Orang Melaka semua tahu Mandi safar di Tanjong Keling.

  4. All drinks are on the house. A screw driver for Pak Semper. Milk for Democrat.

  5. I need a partner to open a Milk Bar. You game Semper??

  6. There was a Milk Bar along Jalan Langgar in Aloq Setar in the ’60s where we would go for our ice cream. Dato had his first date there. We would sit for hours listening to music of the time from the juke box for 10 cents a song.

  7. Aiyaa … no more lembu jokes please. I need somebody to help me make it through the night.

  8. Lembu-lembu Ibrahim Ali coming down to Putrajaya.

  9. Merry Chistmas & a very Happy New Year, let’s all join in the Christmas Carol – all Malaysians to do that in Good ‘spirit” and let’s all enjoy….Cheers for the Beers !

  10. Bacardi & Coke anybody?

    ____________
Mongkut Bean, how rum and coke. Stay sober on Xmas eve. –Din Merican

  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

  12. Mr. Bean , this is a tragic love story :

  13. In the name of Love and Devotion, Seasons Greetings.
To Dato, Dr Kam, Bean, Semper, Isa M, Kat, Didi, Abnizar, looes, AiTze, the sams (all of you), Rauf and all friends in this blog:

  14. O yes CLF,

For all our ‘heated’ arguements herein in this Dato Din’s blog, we will still embrace one another in the true ‘spirit’ of comradeship of being Malaysians.

Cheers….i am not for the bacardi, but the Rum…you bet !

  15. There is a report a lady in Los Angeles is celebrating Christmas whilst showing the Koranic versus of how important Jesus is to us the moslems, verse by verse. How in high esteem and honour is Mariam(Mary) and Jesus (pbuh)is to us . It is time we learnt/remind ourselves of this again.

This is our connection to our Christian brothers & sisters, our high regard and the high esteem Jesus (pbuh) and Mariam (Mary) is held in our Koran.

How important and out of love and mercy Jesus (pbuh) was sent to this world as were all the chosen ones of God.

I wish Dato’, Datin and everyone here and every where a Merry and peaceful Christmas and a Happy & Joyful New year.

  16. That’s a beautifull one Kathy….Wonderfull !

Btw, have been missing Frank of late….where is he hiding….or sulking away for what ? Yeh… we do miss him end of the year, don;t we ?

  17. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all Christians and A HAPPY & SAFE Holiday to others! God Bless us all in the coming months & years ahead!

  18. Merry X-mas everyone

  19. The Season’s Greetings to every one of the friends with whom we have exchanged views during the year. And, of course, to our host for making it possible.

May the New Year bring continuing good health and happiness to all of you.

  20. Seasons Greetings & A Happy New Year to One and All!
Lets pray that 2012 will bring about positive changes to Malaysia and its citizens!

  21. To whom it may concern :

  22. Yes, Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.

Thank you Din for providing me with a very enjoyable place to visit and discourse.

Semper believes that the reason why most of us here call ourselves Malaysians first is because we are old. Hmm, it makes me wonder what our average age could be?

    Ai Tze,

45 years and at any age one is never too old if one has an active mind , good health and a compassionate soul. For his warts and all, Tun Dr. Mahathir at 86 has a very active mind, even to be able to plead memory loss whenever it suited him–Din Merican

  23. Average age, Al Tze? Well, it ranges between 40 to 75 years old…Just discount Kathy.

  24. Never mind, Kathy. She’s still sucking. More milk please!

  25. Let us pause for a minute and reflect on the many Santas (and the many presents he would have delivered and the families who could not afford presents without Santa) around the world who are out of job.

Me? Together with my favorite spirit, I will just have to drown my sorrow.

  26. Yes, spirit. It makes for a spiritual Christmas and New Year ….. *hic*

  27. I’m sorry fellas. But I cannot get over this song …. **sob* *sob* … pass me the Kleenex please.

  28. Poor Kath, the eternal butt of sexual innuendoes from all corners in this male dominated blog. Not that you can’t give as much you get, mind.

You remind me of the girl in our nearly all-male crowd whom I once called our “geezer bird”.

Funny, instead of being offended, she thought it quite apt.

  29. Sorry for being melancholy. This year has been a roller coaster.

  30. Ai Tze,

Leave Kathy alone. She’s a big gal. She’s busy riding. She dumped the old retired race horse Sir Lancelot for a younger one.

  31. She experienced an epiphany. You could say.

  32. Love is not a game to play. You can’t just break my heart and walk away … *sob* …. *hic* …

  33. I see you’ve been dipping into the egg nog real early Bean. No screwdriver for me, too early and too many sobriety checks.

  34. Yes, Semper. I’ve been dipping but not into eggnog.

  35. Tok Cik is the real dip stick.

  36. Mongkut Bean
You spiked the Hot Apple Cider? It’s good to keep you warm with all this cold weather. Hope Santa can find your place. You’ve been a good boy this year?

  37. Temperatures are fast plummeting where I am, Semper. Hovering around mid 30degrees right now. Don’t think we’ll have a white Christmas this year. Gotta keep the spirit flowing so as to keep warm. How’s the weather over at your side, Semper?

  38. Glorious weather for Christmas Day expected. High of mid 60′s today and tomorrow. Overnight lows mid 20′s with frost in the morning.
Can’t miss the spirit of Christmas, it’s everywhere in the air. Last shopping day before Christmas.

  39. Merry X’mas everyone. tis the season to be jolly, trallalalaalaalaaaaaaa

  40. It is a very quiet and subdued Christmas this year. None of the merry making that we hear in better times and in past years, Semper.
