PKR Delegate: Go Forward with BERSIH 3.0
by Aidila Razak@http://www.malaysiakini.com
PKR was today urged to stop “wasting time” with the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reform and to just proceed with a third instalment of BERSIH to press for firm action.
Debating the president’s policy speech at the PKR congress in Johor, Azmizam Zaman Huri even urged the leadership to call for BERSIH 3.0 to be held as early as next month. “Let’s not entertain the PSC. We know they will not entertain the BERSIH demands…this congress believes that the best path to Putrajaya is to jolt BN….by holding BERSIH 3.0, do you agree?” he asked the delegates to loud agreement.
He said that supporting the PSC is supporting the government’s delay tactics and that holding BERSIH 3.0 later would allow more room for cheating in the months leading up to the general election.
“We must hold it next month. Can we?” he asked the excited delegates during his fiery speech. Pakatan Rakyat has three members on the PSC, including PKR Deputy President and Gombak MP Azmin Ali.
Supporting his case, Azmizam claimed he has evidence of migrants naturalised in droves elsewhere and registered in Kota Raja and Hulu Selangor. “(The BN government) knows that they will go down in the next general election, so they will engage in more cheating. So we need to join BERSIH, clean the electoral roll, use indelible ink, demand fair and free access to media, stop corruption and stop dirty politics,” the PKR Youth Vice-Chief said.
‘No reform, no GE’
Azmizam also invited the delegates, who by then were whipped up into a frenzy, to show their support at an event on electoral reform on December 4.
“We will gather in the Shah Alam Stadium at 8pm on December 4 to send a message to (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak) and (wife) Rosmah (Mansor) that we do not want an election before BERSIH’s eight demands (are fulfilled),” he said.
Earlier during the PKR youth congress on Nov 25, the youth wing’s Deputy Chief Khairul Anwar Ahmad Zainuddin in his winding-up speech said BERSIH 3.0 is tentatively scheduled for next February.
“We support BERSIH because we don’t want to enter the battle ring if the ring is not the same size and if the goal posts are shifted,” he said.
The youth wing has also promised street demonstrations if they discover polls are rigged. BERSIH 3.0 is touted to be the follow up – should the government fail to act towards electoral reform – to the BERSIH2.0 mega rally for electoral reform organised by civil society, that saw an estimated turnout of 50,000 in the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
Putting the cart before the horse. What a tragedy of Sisyphus.
What will probably happen is that the Revision to “Assembly” Bill, which is actually a Gostan piece of bad literature will be tested first. At increasing levels of agitation starting with the lawyers, individual civil activists and then the NGO’s.
Now if i were the Goons, i won’t want to mess with groups like ABIM, which can make Perkasa lame and look like mince-meat. Looks like Jib’s gang is in a bad way due to cretinism, but these fellas in PKR aren’t the brightest of sparks either.
Bersih 3.0 should be left to the cleaning lady and her crew, not some smart ass, rowdy, latex wearing Inanity. For the life of me, they are about as smart as their compatriots in UMNO – nothing more! Talk for the sake of noise.
We shall see who kentut first. The smell will be awful. After all we are literally and legally worse off than Burma, aren’t we? Democracy and Liberty are not genetic diseases, are they..?
What to say! Just sunk BN for good
The corrupted umNO-BN goons will do whatever to keep the power !
Why does PKR follow UMNO by having youth wing, ladies wing, why not straight membership regardless of age or gender. For this reason PKR is just another UMNO both in thinking and in action. Youth due to their immaturity will make statements that can be detrimental so let them learn by mixing and competing with the party stalwarts and veterans.

PKR emerged as a reaction to UMNO after Mahathir unceremoniously removed Anwar as Deputy PM and Deputy UMNO President in 1998,and sent him to Sungei Buloh fro 6 years on trumped up charges. Its present leaders, except for those from Syed Husin Ali’s Parti Rakyat Malaysia, developed and matured in UMNO. PKR’s culture in UMNO’s, although the party itself is changing, thanks to its multiracial membership.–Din Merican
Over the next few days, I will be posting developments at UMNO General Assembly starting with DPM’s Keynote Address at the joint assembly of UMNO Youth, Shahrizat’s Wanita UMNO, and Puteri UMNO. What will the DPM say in his Address?
Najib’s Amanat Presiden before the entire Assembly should be studied closely for clues about the shape and content of the BN Manifesto for GE-13. Will his Deputy contradict him? UMNO GA is too important to be sidelined because they together with their Barisan Nasional colleagues still govern the country and their policies and actions affect the lives of all Malaysians.
How will UMNO respond to the challenge of PKR following the latter’s 8th convention in Pulai, Johor? More Malay nationalism or fresh ideas on good governance and coherent Way Forward for the entire country? Right now, UMNO is trapped in an outdated paradigm. It refuses to accept new realities and challenges which call for positive and open engagement with Malaysians and respect for their aspirations and expectations.
The Way Forward, in my view, should be based on national unity, open mindedness, and democratic values, not a perpetuation of feudal values and norms. Malaysians can no longer tolerate abuses like NFC, PKFZ, Defense procurements; they want an open society where it is not wrong to be different and an end to crony capitalism.
I urge UMNO leadership to change its style of governance and restore public trust. If UMNO wants my vote and others who share my view, then it has to govern responsibly and in a transparent and accountable manner.–Din Merican
UMNO is brain dead. Their lap-dogs are extinct.
And I don’t vote for Zombies.
