Greetings from Phnom Penh

Greeting from Phnom Penh
Semper Fi and I arrived in Phnom Penh this morning on separate flights. We are here on business. He came on a Silk Air flight from Singapore during which he enjoyed the good breakfast they served. I took the MAS flight from KLIA on a Boeing 737-800. Mine too was a pleasant journey, marred only by a cheap skate breakfast of miniaturized roti bomb with sambal tumis sardine supplied by Ibrahim’s Sky Chef and orange juice. I told the flight attendant that MAS should stop supplying breakfast to economy class passengers on this route, if this is the kind of meal they serve up. It is a sheer waste of money.
I do not expect to be treated like a passenger on first or business class, but I
expect decent meal. There is no point winning the best Cabin crew award and boosting about it when the comfort of your ordinary passengers is brushed aside.I hope MAS management look into this matter before its reputation is further damaged. –Din Merican
Try Qantas food… you will puke at the quality.

I am not alone, but I am feeling lonely because someone special is not with me. I spoke to her earlier tonight.–Din Merican

You should have asked for nasi uduk and ikan tongkol.
Mr Bean - November 22, 2011 at 4:20 am
with pisang ambon on the side.
Mr Bean - November 22, 2011 at 4:22 am
You have a choice between nasi uduk and apem w/ cendol.
Mr Bean - November 22, 2011 at 4:29 am
Semper’s favourite is apem w/ cendoi. Sometimes when he has no choice he may go for pisang ambon. Also Kathy’s favorite. Boleh di pegang, jangan di makan.

Has the quality of the back roads improved, DDM ?
2003 was the last time I was in Cambodia when I was back packing across from Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. My bones still creak each time I think of the overland pick up trip from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh.
Apart from that,l had a wonderful experience in Cambodia. The people are genuinely warm and hospitable to visitors.

Bon vacances, Dato!

Mongkut Bean
No nasi uduk but we had Char Kway Teow, Laksa Penang and Nasi Goreng Kampong at a nice Malaysian Halal restaurant D’Nyonya. Nasi uduk is reserved for next week when I’ll be in Indonesia.

Aiyaaah… you travelled ,000s of miles only to eat char koay teow, something you could do back in Los Angeles??
You should be taking Dato to rumah urut now that he’s travelling alone. Here’s a teaser for Dato.
Mr Bean - November 22, 2011 at 9:42 pm
Last time I had a Thai traditional urut, it almost broke my back. So I don’t suggest you go for the traditional urut.
Mr Bean - November 22, 2011 at 9:48 pm
Yup, that’s about right. Go for the soft urut. Recommended for old geezers.
