In Animation: The Collapse of the American Dream
Here are two interesting videos of what is happening in the United States in recent years, following the end of George W. Bush militaristic era, for all of us to watch and reflect. The 2 Wars –Iraq and Afghanistan–have been costly not only to the United States but also the rest of the world. America has been on a spending spree taking advantage of the status of the US dollar as the anchor of the international monetary system.
But today,the status of the US dollar as a reserve currency and medium of exchange for international settlements is being undermined free market policies, urged on by vested American corporate interests on Wall Street. These greed driven capitalists are playing both the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress and the President in the White House. As a result, we are all held at ransom, so to speak. The United States sneezes, we catch cold.
Bush’s regime change and neo-conservatism led to an imperialistic America, which is now living beyond its means. Fiscal discipline has been abandoned and the rest of the world is now facing the consequences of America’s mounting debt. The national debt limit is at this point in time the battleground for an ideological fight between the political titans (Republicans and Democrats) in the run up to the US Presidential Elections in November 2012. Tough times ahead for all of us.

There’s this guy in London who’s been carrying billboards predicting the end of the world is nigh – for the last 40 years!
So too, the enemies of the West and USA and the no-hopers hope and pray for USA inc to bite the dust.
It ain’t gonna happen and the East, doomsday cultists and M’sia had better learn to innovate fast or it’s they who will be staring down the barrel of the gun sooner than the USA. If USA sinks, we who are so dependent on them, will sink in the after shock.
let’s hope and pray the USA will come out of it’s problems soon.

Dpp, enemies of the west? You don’t mean China-phile rightways do you?
China’s economy is very much dependent on the west. The west goes down so will China. Can China survive without the US? No, definitely not.

Sometimes the mentality of some Americans (read: GOP) perplexes me. They’d rather spend billions of dollars on unwinnable wars in the so-called name of national security than on social programs. Keep on complaining about the debt but reluctant to cut defense spending and increase taxes on the wealthy. Their argument that tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs is really a claptrap. Unemployment isn’t going down so obviously that doesn’t work, does it? If giving tax breaks to corporations will bring businesses to the country, why doesn’t it work in Ireland?
