Malaysia Today inaccessible, and now back on again
Popular blog Malaysia Today has been having accessibility problems since this morning prompting the question if this could be related to the exposure of a ‘classified’ cabinet paper related to the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.
Over the past three days, the blog had been uploading several parts of the cabinet paper.
The published document revealed how the RM12.5 billion project had spiraled into disaster.
Malaysia Today was completely inaccessible in the morning but came back online later.
However, a check by Malaysiakini at 3.45pm revealed that the site was once again inaccessible.
Contacted later, a Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) official said they were not aware of the problem.
Opposition stalwart Lim Kit Siang asked if the technical problems were related to the expose.
Respect right to information
In a statement, Lim said the time had come for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to honour his pledge of public accountability, transparency, integrity and good governance.
He said this must include respecting the right of Malaysians to information about the entire process as to how Malaysia could be landed with a RM12.5 billion scandal through three prime ministers, three transport ministers and four Port Klang Authority chairpersons.
“To do this, it is essential that the prime minister should declassify all relevant PKFZ government documents, including cabinet papers, to public scrutiny as there can be no security justification to continue to protect these information as ‘official secrets’,” he added.
According to Lim, this would be the best Hari Raya present Najib could give the country.
“Are there ministers whether from UMNO, MCA, MIC, Gerakan or the other BN component parties who are prepared to come forward publicly to support the call for the declassification?” he asked.
Najib: This is unacceptable
Meanwhile, Najib said the police would be investigating the matter as the cabinet paper comes under the Official Secrets Act.
He added that the investigation was not to deny the people’s right to information but such exposure on the internet was something that could not be accepted.
“In the PKFZ case, whatever that we must tell the people, we will do so later but it cannot be accepted that the cabinet paper is posted on the internet.
“Any cabinet paper is still under the OSA and police will investigate anyone who exposes cabinet papers.
“Let’s wait for the investigation and what action can be taken based on the OSA,” he said.
Din,

What is up? Investigate the entire civil service. Perhaps, set up a Super-Dupper Task Force headed by the AG and co-chaired by the IGP. Obviously, there are civil servants who are unhappy with Najib’s handling of the PKFZ scandal and other matters. –Din Merican

It is bad for the country to have Cabinet Paper posted on the internet. If we can have cabinet papers for all and sundry to see, who will guarantee that the whatever our military secret and whatnot are not already with people who are not suppose to have them.
Having said that, the real issue is the cabinet is trying cover up a bad decision from public knowledge. RPK am sure fully aware of the “secret” nature of the document but he can’t wait for the document to be declassified in order to tell the rakyat that the Cabinet is fully aware of the scandal.
If we are really a country that take good governance and collective responsibility seriously, the Cabinet should admit their mistakes and bites the bullet to tell the truth. Those people responsible for the fiasco must be prosecuted. Am sure if the crime of such magnitude were exposed in England or Japan, someone would either commit harakiri or already rotten in jail. If this happen in China the family of crooks must get their money ready to pay for the bullets use by the firing squad.
But this is Malaysia and the people will have to work harder just to pay for the crimes of those walking the corridors of power. It is the sad truth until there will come a day when the rakyat decide that enough is enough.
But for now Najib and Che Mah Chot are busy making preparation to welcome the rakyat at his open house. Selamat Hari Raya Malaysia.

Would the couple be willing to pose with you for a photo shoot if you go to their Open House? Mahathir would do that if you’re brave enough to walk up to him and ask!
Over here it happens at dinners when the aim is to collect campaign contributions. You could buy a dinner plate for $1,000 and then pose with the U.S. President. You can then hang it up in your office. A friend of mine has a photo on the wall in his office showing him and his wife posing with Mahathir.

Three prime ministers , 4 ministers of transport involved in this scandal and all the people get is a committee chaired by the chief secretary to the government to investigate a loss of rm 12.5 billion . And we all know the chief secretary ‘s quality .
Those who don’t know can read about him and his antics in bakri musa’s blog.

“What a fucked up UMNO government we have . Some legacy dr Mahathir left behind” sorerro.
Yes, one lasting legacy which the rakyat have to shoulder for decades to come. A fucked-up UMNO government administered by goons who think they are God-sent and are beyond reproach. RM12.5 billion means nothing to them. And now they are planning to spend RM1 billion annually on a F-1 team, which the great Mahathir feels is worth every ringgit invested. Yeah, they’ve fucked us all up.

Tok Cik, Menyalak-er, danildaud, tean sabai sabai rean, et. al,
UMNO and Barisan Nasional continue to defy us and have been doing things with impunity. It is sad commentary that most Malaysians, especially those self serving ones, do not give a damn. If that is the attitude, we are real suckers and will remain suckers for the rest of our lives (like our frequent interlocutor of UMNO spin, Ilham). But if we truly had enough of their shenanigans, we must make our votes count in the next GE.–Din Merican

Yes Din, we all know what is to be done. Some of us had just met a Malaysian ‘cleric’ who’s living overseas, and there is no doubt our minds of what must be done – and we will make our votes count, small though our numbers are. The preparations start now… and as the man says have faith!!
___________
Menyalak-er, victory goes to the better prepared and committed. Our challenge is how to convince the fence sitters or rather free riders that UMNO-BN must be replaced if we are bring glory back to our country and that a two party system is the way forward. We need honest government that does not squander scare resources. Enjoy the holidays, be rested and then we work with verve for change.—Din Merican

Umno is nearing the end of its shelve-life . The remaining few episodes of its notorious legacy is rapidly approaching its end. The party’s script writers have run out of ideas and the storyline is turning out to be one big bore.
The soon to be by-elections will be a benchmark amidst a political cliff- hanger for all Malaysians to contemplate their future under the nations sun.
