Selangor opposition leader D.r Mohd Khir Toyo has urged state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong to resign following the circulation of her nude photographs. The former menteri besar said the Pakatan Rakyat leader should quit as state cabinet member as well as state assemblyperson for Bukit Lanjan.
“This is a moral issue. Previously, (former health minister and MCA deputy president) Dr Chua Soi Lek had also resigned over a similar incident,” he told Malaysiakini. Mohd Khir said when the MCA leader’s video-clip surfaced, Pakatan leaders had urged him to relinquish his post. “So why not now (ask Wong to quit). Don’t have double standards,” he said, adding that Wong, who is also PKR Wanita publicity chief, should quit “as soon as possible”.
Mohd Khir said her resignation would help clear PKR’s name. “Otherwise, it will be seen as a party with no moral values,” he added. The former menteri besar also said there is a possibility that PKR did not vet the background of its election candidates because it never expected them to win and form the state government.
Second scandal to hit Pakatan
Wong, 37, filed a police report on the matter last night. It is believed that the photographs were taken – most likely by a former boyfriend – while she was sleeping and without her consent. It appears that a camera phone was used. Malaysiakini was shown a couple of the photos said to be among those in circulation. One shows Wong asleep naked in bed.
The 37-year-old Pakatan Rakyat politician – also the tourism, consumer affairs and environment exco in Selangor – has been severely traumatised by the release of the photos. She told Malaysiakini that it was a gross invasion of her privacy. According to reports, Wong’s staff had locked the doors to her office at the state assembly building in Shah Alam this morning.
This is the second sex-related controversy involving a Selangor exco. Last month, PAS’ Dr Halimah Ali was accused of being detained for ‘khalwat’ (close proximity) at a hotel in Port Klang. However, Halimah denied the incident and filed a police report against a pro-UMNO website which reported the allegation.
Toyol, of all people should be the last person to talk about morality. This is one person who has not a shred of moral fibre in him. A thief, scoundrel and a rejected politician.

The shenanigans (esp. smut) of the ‘opposition’ aka Be-Enders, if revealed on the web, would probably overwhelm all net-servers.
Elizebeth just as anyone else, can make personal mistakes and it is not right to demonize her for something she herself is unaware of.
I must also reiterate that Selambau’s Arumugam did the right thing and kudo’s to DSAI and PKR leadership for their mature guidance. This pre-empted ‘coprolalia’ (shit-talking) by the desperados.
I hope PKR/PAS/DAP leadership take cognizance of this and give Eli their utmost support. I know we will.

Pathetic this Khir Toyo isn’t it? He has Javanese ancestry and is strategically stirring up racial hatred towards non-Malay communities just as they did in Indonesia, towards non-Javanese communities – remember the massacre of the Chinese Indonesians, Christians in Sulawesi, Christian Ibans in Kalimantan and Christians in West Papuans and Balinese Hindus? Plus, during his reign as Selangor MB, many low cost flats and land for villages have been sold to Indonesian Javanese migrants – check out Batu Caves! Can an investigative journalist do some investigation to see if he goes to any lounge and sleep with the hostesses there, as typical of many Malay Umno politicians?
When I was detained in the cell at Duta Court, during the International Human Rights Day March arrest in Dec 2007, a Malay hostess who was also in the cell for taking drugs, from a lounge in Klang told me, not just politicians but also many Malay Special Branch officers are forcing her boss to supply hostesses to provide sexual service as “bribe”! Such hypocrites! Oh yes, the Special Branch quickly removed her from the cell when they saw me chatting with the hostess! And they dare to judge Ms. Wong, in her personal and private space. Besides, the focus should be on the criminal ex-boyfriend (MAN!), who is the scum of the earth, for selling off (I bet!) such private photos!
I have been observing that such racial hatred are stirred more and more within broader and deceitful political agenda by Javanese Indonesians and Pakistanis, towards the non-Malay/non-Muslim communities in Malaysia and including Sabah. We, Malaysians, used to live in harmony between different races and religion but Malays are being instigated to feel hatred now towards other races and religion by these two main culprits, especially during the leadership of that twisted pervert, Khir Toyo!
If we want to prevent such barbaric crimes happening in Malaysia, as keep on happening in Indonesia towards non-Javanese/non-Muslim communities, we must be very vigilant against this hidden agenda. By the way, my observation is due to my Social Anthropological background and analysis! By the way, Ms. Wong, don’t let this sexist and perverted macho men bring you down! We women are behind you all the way! Be strong and challenge such hypocrisy with dignity and confidence; I will pray for you with Christ today Ms. Wong!

We must not give up hope, for true justice, peace and mercy sake, for all Malaysians and genuinely oppressed migrants and refugees(not racist ones like I mentioned!). If you are in Germany or the EU, we can do some campaign work together, what do you think? Especially critical now on Uthaya under ISA and others, the anti-logging Penans and on Altantuya’s case.

Hold on! My sympathy no doubt goes to the victim of any crime – and, in this case, the blame would not be on boyfriends alone. A girlfriend with a camera-phone, armed with the same sense of creativity and imagination could be just as deadly. But what laws has he broken?? Selling of your own property for money has never been a crime – or is it now in Malaysia!
Let this be a lesson. If going naked in bed and allowing boyfriends to demonstrate their skills at camera-phone photography is a crime, then there are many criminals walking in our streets and in all parts of the world. The ‘crime’ is not in taking them but in using them to embarrass their subjects. They are like statements which read, “Here I am, naked in bed. Look, I’m proud of my nude body. You can take a photo if you want.” No crime is committed when the photographs are taken; and no crime is committed when photographs (title to property vests with the photographer) are sold. Since when selling your own property for money is a crime? Selling somebody else’s property is a crime because that would meet the laws of theft and conversion. Since when embarrassing someone is a crime?
It may be gutter journalism, but it is still journalism whenever the media reports issues of public interest. If you are a politician working for the people, the people want and have the right to know everything about you. Nothing is private anymore. You are like celebrities. If you put yourself out there for the media, it would be fair game for the media to report anything and everything.

Mr. Bean, you do have an excellent point about the ‘privacy’ thing. That’s why i had mentioned in Anil’s blog that all PR’s YB/StateAssembly persons, must declare anything that could be deemed ‘scandalous’ to their respective Party chiefs, so as to preempt such ‘gutter politics/journalism’.
It is just that ‘poor’ Elizabeth may not even have been aware of it. I haven’t seen the photos, but if she was truly asleep, wouldn’t that indicate that the so called ‘property’ of the photographer is null and void? But, as you may say, it is pointless to go into these mere speculations.
Katrina Sri, what Bean says is generally true – sometimes you must look beyond mere words to get his drift (remember C.S. Lewis?) for he doesn’t have a single malicious bone except maybe in his tongue!

Toyo is the person who approved PIG FARMING PROJECT in Sepang (Tumbok), hoping to get ‘long term commission’ out of it, and is he not guilty as Muslim supporting ‘binatang haram’? Why no UMNO-Islam condemns the project when they talk so much about ‘HALAL’ issue. I laughwhen YB from PAS, in Parliament, said that BN=Babi Negara!! Because YB of BN approved such project.
