PJ Anti-ISA Vigil

CRY FREEDOM

While we are busy focusing on the Kuala Terengganu by-election and the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza, we must not forget that there are still ISA detainees in Kamunting, Perak who have yet to be set free. Our vigils are ongoing. Please turn up in Petaling Jaya. —Din Merican

  1. What’s the old man talking about? Boycott the use of an international currency like the U.S. green back??? BNM reserves are not all denominated in U.S. dollars. Everybody knows that the mix of foreign currencies is a closely guarded national secret.

Banks (both foreign and local) do business in U.S. dollars. Letters of Credit (both export and import L/Cs)t are opened in U.S. dollars. Export and import bills are denominated in U.S. dollars. Just because this mamak says we stop doing business in U.S. dollars does not mean banks, corporations etc will stop using it.

Will somebody tell this mamak to stop making Malaysia the butt of jokes round the world?

  2. It would be easier to change Malaysia’s national flag from the crescent, star and stripes (away from the stars and stripes of the U.S. flag) to the full moon, and red and white and green!

That is within our control. I wonder why this mamak has not called for the change.

  3. Abang Din,

FYI, i have attended all the vigils since 12th October.

It would be good if you could attend too.

Hope to see you this Sunday….?

  4. GO ! tell it on the mountains,
    over the hills & everywhere,
GO ! tell it on the mountains,
let my people GO ( free) !!

  5. Have been attending the vigil since Day 1, it’s really nice to met you when you went last time, hope to see you again in future.

kkitsam, I will try to be there on Sunday (January 11), even for a while. Thanks for your support.Din

  6. How about making it an anti ISA as well as an Anti War in Gaza vigil? This could be till the problems in Gaza are sorted out.

As for Mahathir’s call to Malaysians to resign from American owned businesses; is he in his right mind. The workers have not accumulated wealth like he has. Is Mahathir going to feed them and their families. It is easy to make such calls, as long as he is not the one affected. Don’t these so called leaders think before they open their big mouth.

    navinda,

By all means, be sympathetic and concerned about Israel’s reprisals against Hamas and the Palestinian people in Gaza and donate generously on humanitarian grounds, but let us not be diverted away from freeing all ISA detainees and ensuring their return to their loved ones and friends. Our people must always come first.

Che Det is too emotional. Calling on all Malaysians to resign from American companies is totally irrational. Yes, will Che Det gives them alternative jobs to feed their families? Senang cakap sebab dia susah hidup selesa. Tetapi ada juga orang Melayu yang akan ikut nasihat Che Det. Bukan kah itu tidak rasional? Jangan jadi bodoh.

Take care of yourself and your family before you can help others. Charity begins at home. Che Det forgot this.—Din Merican

  7. I will be going back to open a shop selling candles. At the rate things are going, I estimate I should be able to make my first million within five years give and take one or two years!

In this day and age, ‘multitasking’ is important – as candidate McCain found to his detriment when he halted his presidential campaign and went to Washington DC to deal with the financial meltdown.

  9. KEEP at it PJ people, keep continuing the ANTI isa vigil. We must tell whatever govt. the bad things they do. If not how are they to govern without feedback. The ‘good’ feedback they get are from their people, NOT the governed.

  10. Tonight vigil ends in 10 minutes as the police and FRU came in and declared our gathering illegal. This is not the first we saw double standard by the police, if PRO ISA can gathered by the road side why can’t we gathered inside MBPJ? REally fed up with this BN government.

  11. Abang Din,

So sorry that you were not with us last night to ‘see the show’ of force!
