RPK Trial Day 1: Update
UPDATE : James has done it again. Got this photo in the mail. Says this was taken at the end of proceedings today.
…and yes, Malaysia Today advocates transparency and accountability.
This was the response of Harme Mohamed, the prosecution’s first witness, to RPK’s counsel Chandra’s, last question during cross-examination this evening.
No, cross-examination of this witness has not concluded as yet.
Proceedings today ended at about 4pm after Chandra informed the court that he would need some time to prepare for further cross-examination of Harme on the technical aspects of this witness’s testimony relating to the workings of the Internet.
Judge was displeased with the prosecution’s late disclosure of documents to the defence and secured the confirmation of the prosecution that all documents intended for use at the trial have been disclosed.
Upon inquiry by the court, the prosecution confirmed that they would be marshalling up 6 witnesses.
The hearing resumes tomorrow at 9am.
It would be good if those who were not in court today would make the effort to attend tomorrow. This will enable those who were in court today to perhaps attend to work.
Let’s carry this together people.

I cried seeing RPK today. Why he has to suffer for our sake? He cares for Malaysia and Malaysians. It’s nice to be there and to see him in person. Yes, we must take turns to go to boost his morale. His sacrifice to the people and country is immense and the only little way to show him our support is to ensure there is always a big crowd. Can anyone coordinate so that we can stagger our timing to come to the court precinct. I am very happy to shake hands with him at the court during recess and managed to tell him that he is not alone in the struggle. We have to organize gatherings all over Malaysia to highlight RPK’s mission to bring about a better Malaysia for Malaysians. May God Bless Him and His Family.

I was there to give my support at the PJ Magistrate Court. It was good meeting up with friends, acquaintences and making new ones from those familiar faces, united on a common mission. I am glad RPK seems very much encouraged by our presence there, it helped.

Apa lagi Jong? Did they say something? We don’t want to hear what the Press say.

Well Salak, unfortunately I did not manage to get inside the courtroom as it was full. It’s a small courtroom anyway. The police would only allow us in if someone comes out, so the rest of the supporters, some 100+ of us mingled among the crowd, introduced ourselves and we naturally got to know one another, exchanging views and news, and our political experiences etc. Luckily the weather was kind and it was a cool cloudy day.
Then came YB LimKitSiang, my Ipoh Timor MP, and DAP’s Ronnie Liu. It was nice that they noticed us, went round thanking us for coming and shaking our hands.
Noticeably was the absence of Anwar Ibrahim but I think it was good for him to stay away from RPK’s court proceeding, a wise decision. But he sent his capable ‘lieutenants’ to lend support which must have been comforting for RPK and family. I am sure they understand.

Oh yes, it was most comforting to notice that there were quite a number of MCA hardcore supporters there and I could pick them up. Whether they are still with MCA I’m not sure but one thing I know they were there at the court to show their support for “NO to ISA”! Hear that PakLah and Mr Hamid Blur?!!!
One Mr Chuan is worth a mention – hew flew in to KL from Bangkok the evening before the 2nd Oct Kamunting Trip and drove all the way (alone!) to join us at Kamunting Detention Centre to send our Hari Raya and Devali greetings to ISA detainees and ‘Free RPK, Free Hindraf 5 and Mansuhkan ISA‘ mission.
I was pleasantly surprised to meet him again at the court that morning, delayed his trip back to Bangkok while his wife was to fly back without him that very afternoon! It’s really heart-warming to have people like him around. Well done Chuan wherever you are, if you are reading this blog! Then there was Sunil our new-found lawyer friend, he too showed up inbetween his court cases.
