Petula Clark sings a Charlie Chaplin Composition (1967) and Michael Buble does his thing

It has been a busy week for me. I have moved to the new offices of Parti KeADILan Rakyat at Merchant Square in Damansara. I will be operating from the Third Floor. The Internet is back and I am again in touch with you. Let us celebrate my return with a song.

Petula Clark sings the theme song of “A Countess in Hongkong” which featured Sophia Loren, Marlon Brando and the legendary Charlie Chaplin himself. It will surely bring back memories for most of us who were then old enough to appreciate the movie and enjoy the song. Have a good weekend.–Dee Jay Din Merican

And let’s go “Downtown” with her, Kawan and Salak. Forget Rosmah, she is very busy keeping an eye on our brother, Najib.

For the new generation of crooning jazz fans, here is Michael Buble for you.

  1. Din,

Listening to Petula Clark sings this song makes me so depressed that I have had to run to the nearest “watering hole” to drown my sorrow.

Why do you have to come back?!

Good to let your hair down from time to time. This is another weekend. So go out and enjoy yourself. After all, you have Bill and Hillary Clinton and others in Big Apple.—Din Merican

  2. …where I listened to Petula Clark’s “Downtown”

The lights are much brighter there…
You can forget all your troubles; forget all your cares, and go
Downtown — things will be great when you’re
Downtown — you’ll find a place for sure
Downtown — everything’s waiting for you

    Salak,

When you think of Rosmah now that RPK has exposed her, think about her going down – on you?

  3. A figure of expression only, kawan. It means letting your defences and hangups down so that you can have a great time sans inhibitions. I did not ask you to drop your trousers, lah!
