Thank You, Bloggers and Civil Society Leaders

Thanks, Pet (www.malaysia-today. net), James Wong, Haris Ibrahim, Atan of Rockybru, and Steven Gan (www. malaysiakini.com) and other bloggers for helping to turn the winds of change into a political tsunami, which our country and certainly the UMNO-BN regime have not seen in 50 years. Civil society group leaders too played their part.

At today’s (March 18, 200 8) Press Conference in Petaling Jaya, Anwar Ibrahim informed the press that bloggers and civil society organisations had a big hand in the success of Barisan Rakyat (PKR, PAS and DAP).The bloggers in particular did a yeoman’s job of spreading the message of change and good governance to the people, and they effectively blunted the mainstream media’s pro-UMNO/BN propaganda.—Din Merican

Thanks to RPK of Malaysia today AND also Malaysiakini for a wonderful true reporting of the actual happenings in the dirty corrupt BN. I would not have decide wisely had not your information being reported in your blog.Thank you and may you be blessed.

It’s simply a fact that these bloggers played a pretty big role in the ‘truth AND dare’ of the Malaysian politics in the recent GE. No man is an island and it had been proven by the bloggers with minds alike to ensure that goodwill is passed on.

If it was in the BN-ship - these bloggers would be given ‘DATUK-ships’ and alike.

GOD BLESS!! TRUTH RULES!

Bang Din, ’tis a timely appreciation. Sementara MSM dan para towkay memusuhi alternative media, BR emraced it with good results!

Bang Din, ’tis a timely appreciation. Sementara MSM dan para towkaynya memusuhi alternative media, BR embraced it with good results!

Sorry, terposting dua kali hehehe..

The bloggers played a prominent role in galvanizing the silent majority into action. People could not remain comfortably blind, deaf and dumb anymore. We were all compelled to do our little bit for a better Malaysia. A little bit from some 4 million voters adds up to quite a lot as the UMNO-BN coalition discovered to their dismay.I hope the mainstream media learns from this lesson as well. A little bit from thousands of dissatisfied readers can really do your circulation a lot of damage.

Clearwater, we all put an end to old style and cheat politics. That is a big achievement. Victory to all Malaysians.—Din Merican.

Hi Din
Thks for the quick response. The problem is I cannot find anywhere to register. No register button or page. I have been reading his website for the last month or so and also came back from Singapore to vote.

nkteong, good you came back to vote. Many young and eligible voters did not register to vote this time. I am disappointed, but they will have start to register now. It is their duty to vote because every vote counts to counter massive cheating and negate undemocratic “postal votes”. If they had registered and voted, Barisan Rakyat (PKR, PAS and DAP) would be in power today. We would have sent UMNO-BN out. Now we are going to have a government that will continue ” business as usual”. —Din Merican

Out of the “BADNESS’ of UMNO-Barisan Nasional, came the good. Malaysians came together as one to deal this punishing blow to the arrogant BN. God Bless all the Bloggers. All of them inculcated political awareness and opened our eyes to the truth.

Angela, thanks for kind comments. Din Merican

Salam to you,

A great job by the bloggers. Without them we will be relying only on Harakah, Suara Keadilan, Rocket which are limited and not spread wide. Thanks to all of them and we just started the battle to continously relay truth and exposing wrongdoings in the corrupt government. Dont forget, Kuda Ranggi and Kepang to a certain extent. KL Pos, marhein, Tranung, Sassy, Malaysian Insider, Black, Mahaguru, Penarik Beca, Sean, Jed, CIA, Suara …..cucu mat kilau… susan, husin lampoyang, jeff ooi and nuraina.

raja long,

I must also thank my good friend, Marhaen up north who as a long ranger did a tremendous job in support of Anwar Ibrahim and PKR. I am sure he is happy that his efforts paid off. Now, it is time for us in PKR to deliver on our promises. That we will do.—-Din Merican

Hi Din

While I subscribe to the fact that bloggers had a big role in the wind of change.I wish to add that the tyranny actions of civil servants, towards the silent majority, had also resulted the loss of votes of their master. Since 2004 many illigal or legal foreign workers were indiscrimately rounded up from restaurants, construction sites, factories, and etc. All foreigners, both legal or illigal, were detained in the state immigration department, oblivious of the livelihood of the business operators, until their permits were authenticate by the department.Such inconsiderate actions had angered those affected and thus the sentiment were vented through the ballot box.

Besides that, the ordinary silent majority harassed by the indiscrimate confiscation of perishable goods in the morning markets by local council enforcement personnel;Vulture-like act of towing away cars during peak banking hours, lunch hours by privatised tow-truck operators;Daily check on motorcyclist at the motorcycle lanes might have also angered many silent majority.Indirectly, those civil servants unknowingly had also help the BR in their struggle for more votes
from the silent majority.

Eggr Chong,

Yes, many civil servants are openly pro-Barisan Nasional and resort to all means possible to please and bodek politicians in power in stead of serving the people. But there are quite a few in the civil service who are quietly sympathetic to PKR and our partners. The latter group also comprises dedicated civil servants who serve their country without fear or favor; they are conveniently forgotten yet they are the ones who keep the government functioning. —Din Merican

Dear Friends,

I just spoke to Raja Petra and he told that he is increasing his servers to 8 so that his webblog can handle the heavy traffic. This will be done in the next few days.

Once this is completed, he will invite you all to register. So keep visiting his blog, and enjoy his analysis and commentaries.

I also thank you very much for visiting and participating in my blog. I welcome comments and criticisms, even heavy ones, but I hope we all can be mature and civil towards each other.

We must begin a new and constructive dialogue and renew our faith in our country. Let us demand high standards of ethics, transparency and accountability from our representatives in Parliament and government. At the same time, let us be wary of self serving politicians.—Din Merican.

Hi Din,
Thanks for yor responds towards my comments.
I could not understand why many bloggers deemed my comments sensitives and thrown them away.
I hope the new Selangor Exco could review the by-laws and amend them,if necessary.
The new by-laws should be more people friendly in many aspects of the ordinary people’s lives.
Hope I am allowed to share my humble views here:
1.Cut the red-tapes in the process of approving local authorities business license.
The current law is outdated and caused troubles
to the business community.
I personally have set up a cafe cum restaurant in Puchong in 2006,and it took me 8 months to obtain the business license from MPSJ.In the 8 months, while waiting for the license,I was continuouly harassed by the enforcement personnel, some gave compound notices, and some ask for outside settlements.
2.Curtail the power of confistigating goods or furnitures in the Morning Markets, restaurants, pasar malams, road sides traders and etc.
I personally feel that instead of using force to grab the goods from the petty traders and throw them into the truck, just write them summons.
3.Abolish the service to privatised tow-trucks operators, who only know how to make more money by harassing ordinary people during peak banking hours and lunch hours.
4.Re-educate those local council traffic wardens,
instead of shouting abusive words to chase away the motorists who double parked their vehicles outsides banks to settle some petty bills, help them to look after their cars so that the motorists could settle their little chores in just a few minutes.
Being an ordinary people,I shall be satisfied and looking foreward to see some changes in my day-to-day living,in the near future.
