BN will still form the government but the momentum is at the opposition. I sincerely hope that all the opposition parties do not take this for granted. work harder for the rakyat and I am sure in the next election BN will be the opposition. The winds of change has just started blowing. And meantime, all malaysians should just close ranks for a better Malaysia.
yh, thanks for your support. Yes, more hard work begins on Monday March 10 onwards for our Parliamentarians and State Assemblymen and women and I. We have finally broken the 50 year UMNO-BN spell on our country and now we are all open to possibilities of a united people. Clean, accountable, and honest governments in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan (retained by PAS) will be our objective. Malaysians have spoken, and are giving us the chance to show what we (PKR, PAS and DAP) can do for them.—Din Merican

Wangsa Maju’s won.
Anyway, my site and a few others are down, which I suspect is service-denial attacks.
resident.wangsamaju,
My blog too was affected. But we must persist in our mission to keep Malaysians informed, and our blogs must serve as a forum of exchange of views and ideas that will be good for our country. Our work in PKR will be intensified. We have a clear mission towards 2013, but we must begin with the mandate given to us in March 8 general elections. We have to perform, and we will. Thanks for your confidence in Anwar Ibrahim and PKR, and our colleagues in DAP and PAS.— Din Merican

Dear Din
It is 4.30 am now, and I, like many other Malaysians, am still coming to grips at the awesome victory we, the people, have achieved today. May this be the dawn of a new era politically, socially & economically for Malaysia. Please convey my congrats to all the PKR team players, but esp to DSAI.
God bless this wonderful country!
And thanks also to you for the good fight.
Dear Shanker,
Your message of congratulations is very much appreciated by DSAI and all the PKR team. Our work for the people has just begun. Keep in touch.Din
Shanker - March 8, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Dear Din and All:
Congratulations! YOU made the difference! When your compatriots of your vintage are content going to suraus and supporting the status quo in order to protect their pensions, you decided to get involved, to turun padang. PKR’s success is due to many factors not least of which is Anwar’s magnetic personality and leadership qualities, but there is no question your deciding to jump off from the sideline to join PKR and work hard for the party is part of that wonderul success.
Again congratulations and best wishes! Tomorrow Malaysians can truly wake up to a new dawn. Sallam,
M. Bakri Musa
Thanks, Bakri. We have broken the 50-year shield of invincibility of UMNO-BN. Even with all the resources of the state, the media and the SPR, they could not stop this movement for change whose time has come. You are kind to me. I am just a small potato in the PKR set up.
Much of the success this time must go to Anwar Ibrahim who campaigned tirelessly throughout the length and breadth of our country. He spoke with courage and conviction about the need for change. Yesterday’s elections showed that Malaysians can accept change and are ready for a better future with PKR and our associates. We must now deliver and I have no doubt we will. Stay in touch. Salam.—Din Merican

Thank you Din Merican for your contribution on this blog, for your words of encouragement and for initiating and showing us the way and helped made the difference!
Jong - March 9, 2008 at 4:48 am
Thank you PKR, DAP and PAS! Without your call, guidance and encouragement we would not have succeeded! It looked a “mission impossible” but nevertheless we made it through hard work, net-working and exposing the lies/spins, massive corruption, arrogance and blatant abuse of power of Barisan Nasional(BN)!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a NEW MALAYSIA!
Kuihbakul - March 9, 2008 at 5:11 am
I stand amazed at the election results! But I am also aware that while we celebrate the immense victory of people power, the elected opposition need to stay level-headed and keep in mind that they were voted in to serve the people. The “self-interest” politics of many in the BN government is what brought their downfall, but unfortunately it brought down some good people too.
The politicians now face an electorate that cannot be hoodwinked anymore. So while I rejoice with you that the voice of the people has triumphed, I say to PKR, DAP and PAS – it’s not about you, its the people. I say esp to DSAI – you will be watched closely, so don’t let us down. Malaysia for Malaysians!!
jeansjottings - March 9, 2008 at 6:39 am
Congrats to BA!! And well done to all of you who have put in your time and effort for this sweet, sweet success of denying BN the monopoly.
Now we really pray and hope DAP, PKR and PAS can really work together and provide the best as promised. If this cannot be done, there won’t be another victory like this anymore. BN is waiting for us to falter-
Waiting to tell the rakyat, ‘padan muka’.
Regards

I have been hearing news from home that everyone is grabbing MB seats!!! Shamless!!!
As the saying goes, there is nothing like POWER!!! What different are they from the existing guys!!!
Malaysian politics is kotor because of 50 years of UMNO-BN rule.—Din Merican

This 2008 General Election will go down in history as one of defiance, anger and contempt by the rakyat towards the Barisan Nasional(BN) Government.
The people have spoken. It’s all about lack of integrity, blatant abuse of power, uncontrolled corruption top to bottom, and an incompetent BN government made up of political deadwood!
The Prime Minister’s call not to be challenged in response to Hindraf and Bersih protests: “Saya pantang di-cabar” further agravated the situation. That was sheer arrogance and final straw for the people!
The Malays may be “mudah lupa” but not the suppressed and drown-trodden non-Malays. A message need to be sent and we have had enough of their nonsense.
By Polling Day, the anti-BN feeling was fast picking up momentum and unstoppable, this I believe engendered by the desire for “Change” that Malaysia desperately needs.
Jong, Let us now look forward and leave the Badawi fiasco to UMNO to sort out. PKR is keen to get on with the business of running government and representing our constituents in Parliament.—Din Merican

We are not telling them to perform the Hara-kiri, but after performing so badly they should, especially MIC leader Samy Vellu, resign as President gracefully, even Pak Lah should resign and leave way for Najib to take over, at least Ong Ka Ting was brave enough to say he will not accept Cabinet appointment. We middle aged Malaysians are not racist; we know we have to live together and work together and survive together for no one race in Malaysia is indispensable. I personally had the biggest shock of my life was when, as a polling agent in a booth in Klang, where two Indians (DAP) Parliament/state, were contesting against two Chinese (BN), saw a elderly Malay gentlemen cast his vote for DAP. The Ballot box being transparent and when the ballot was cast inside it flipped open allowing me to see the result. In fact there were several ballots in view and of course there was a mixture of results but the one cast by the Malay gentle men was already an indication to me that Malaysian are voting as Malaysians. There were so many incidences in Malaysia where the concerned politicians should have committed Hara-kiri, but for this shamed performance they must.
